Atari announces Centipede: Infestation for the 3DS, Wii
These days, when someone mentions the arcade classic Centipede, more people are likely to cringe in horror, immediately thinking of The Human Centipede. Hopefully Atari’s recent announcement of the upcoming Centipede: Infestation will take the power back. Published by Atari and developed by WayForward, the 3DS and Wii game “is a post-apocalyptic action experience that features run-n-gun shooting style gameplay with tower defense-style objects, paying homage to the original Centipede while bringing the brand into the 21st century.” Hell yes! You play as orphaned teenager, Max, who meets up with another teenager named Maisy to try to save the world. This sounds like every teenager’s dream – saving the world from giant bugs while getting the girl.
There are killer centipedes – of course! – as well as tons of mutated bugs, including spiders, beetles, and grubs, all across 40 stages within seven environments. There are also loads of great weapons, including a Nuke Cannon and a Freezethrower. I wish I had some of these when fighting the bugs in my apartment! They’ve even got co-op multiplayer, as well as sharable content with StreetPass on the 3DS. Sound like your kind of game? It’ll scuttle up this fall, so be prepared.

Nintendo Wii price drop soon?

Every major retailer has lowered the price of the Wii system bundle from $199.99 to $169.99. The price drops apply to both the black and white console, which include a Wii Remote Plus controller, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.
Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us and GameStop have all lowered the price to $169.99. This unofficial price drop has followed a long stream of rumors that Nintendo will officially drop the price on the console on May 15.
Maybe those Wii 2 rumors aren’t so far-fetched after all.
Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis fight for Madden NFL 12 cover
And then there were two.
The voting for the Madden NFL 12 cover athlete is down to the end and only Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis remain.
Hillis defeated the heavily favored Aaron Rodgers to reach the finals while Vick ended the cinderella dreams of Adrian Peterson. A Vick victory would give the formerly incarcerated quarterback his second Madden cover appearance while Hillis has run over some of the biggest names in pro football to reach the finals. I think it’s safe to say that few people picked either of these guys to make it this far.
Final round voting will continue from now until Monday, April 25. The winner will be announced on April 27th during ESPN 2’s “SportsNation.”
Madden NFL 12 blitzes stores on August 30
Rob Semsey, the Director of Public Relations at EA Sports, has tweeted that Madden NFL 12 will be released on August 30. Normally, the Madden series rushes stores during the middle of the month, but with this year’s labor problems between the NFL and the players union, perhaps the publisher wanted to give the development team at EA Tiburon a little more time before the season starts.
Semsey said the later release date was picked “to align closer to the start of the NFL regular season.”
Whatever the reason, the currently cover athelete-less Madden NFL 12 will be released for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 whether the lockout is resolved or not.
Nintendo announces Wii Play: Motion
Nintendo has sold more copies of Wii Play than of any other game in its thirty year involvement in the video game industry. So are you really surprised that the company has announced a sequel, now with Wii MotionPlus support?
Wii Play: Motion will be released on June 13 and come packed with a black Wii Remote Plus. Twelve new games will round out this minigame collection all for the attractive price of $49.99:
Wii owners will be twisting, turning and enjoying themselves like never before, whether they’re newcomers to the console or have already discovered the fun of the popular Wii Play game. From catching a gust of wind by tilting an umbrella to fending off garden pests by swinging a mallet, each of the 12 included games will have players smiling wide as they use their Wii Remote Plus controller (or Wii Remote with Wii MotionPlus accessory) in a variety of interesting, sometimes unexpected ways. Wii Play: Motion comes packaged with a Wii Remote Plus controller – which combines the original Wii Remote controller with the precision of Wii MotionPlus – to deliver great value, precise motion control and immersive social fun that anyone in the household can pick up and instantly enjoy.

Rodgers, Hillis, Vick, Peterson are the Madden NFL 12 final four
The third round of the Madden NFL 12 Cover Vote has come to a close and now only four names remain.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers emerged victorious over New England’s Danny Woodhead. He’ll face Peyton Hillis of the Cleveland Browns in the semifinals, who continued his cinderella run with a win over Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles.
The other half of the bracket includes Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick on top, Vick beat the 49ers’ Patrick Willis in round three. He’ll be challenged by Vikings wide receiver Adrian Peterson, who stomped Drew Brees with 62% of the vote.
Semifinal voting begins today and runs through April 17.
Dragon Quest X details to emerge later this year
Hardcore RPG fans! The reason to steal your girlfriend’s buy a Wii is finally upon us! In the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Yuji Horii, creator and scenario writer of the Dragon Quest series, confirmed that the latest iteration, Dragon Quest X, will be ready for the masses soon. Horii stated, “all we can say is that development is going well and we’re on the last parts of the game. We can’t really share much else at this point, but by the end of this year we should be able to announce something regarding it.”
The last home console version of the game, Dragon Quest VIII, was one of the best RPG’s of the last decade, and potentially of all time. I can’t wait to see how Level-5 and the DQ trio (Yuji Horii, Koichi Sugiyama, and Akira Toriyama) work their magic on Nintendo’s system.

Awesome new trailer for Wii RPG Pandora’s Tower
Earlier in the year, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata teased a new RPG coming exclusively to the Wii, called Pandora’s Tower. That’s pretty much all the information we got, but now a new trailer for the game has been released. We also know the game is coming out May 26 in Japan, developed by Ganbarion, the team behind the DS’ Jump Super Stars.
The official site has been updated with the trailer and release date, but no other information has been provided. You know, like if this game will ever come to the United States.
