WB Games will release The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game in September
It looks like WB Games and TT Games have another Lego game planned for this Fall, and the two companies will release The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game to go along with this September’s premiere of The Lego Ninjago Movie.
In the game, players battle their way through waves of enemies with honor and skill as their favorite ninjas Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Master Wu to defend their home island of Ninjago from the evil Lord Garmadon and his Shark Army. To do so, they must master the art of Ninjagility which allows them to traverse Ninjago by wall-running, high-jumping and battling the foes of Ninjago to rank up and upgrade the ninja’s combat skills. Players can harness the power of Spinjitzu combat to defend Ninjago together.
Players will fight their way through eight locations from the film and compete in Challenge Dojos against a neverending stream of increasingly tougher enemies. The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game will also include a variety of Battle Maps for competitive splitscreen for up to four players.
The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on September 22. Be sure to check out the Announcement Trailer embedded above.

Nintendo might re-release more Wii U games on the Switch

Even before the official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch, many “insiders” said that Nintendo would re-release a large number of games from the Wii U’s library on their then-upcoming console. And after the successful launches of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (along with this Fall’s Pokken Tournament DX), it looks like they were right. But a new interview out of this year’s E3 Expo has revealed that Nintendo might continue the practice with further Wii U re-releases.
The question was posed to Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime by Waypoint, and while he didn’t answer in the affirmative, he did confirm that Nintendo is thinking long and hard about bringing more Wii U games to the Switch:
Waypoint: So, the second question I have that jumps off of that previous one is that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is doing incredibly well, that’s also, there’s obviously some new stuff there but, much of that game was available on the Wii U, and I think it took a little time for me to wrap my head around why it was coming out so soon on the Switch, and then I realized, well, completely honestly, a lot of people didn’t play a lot of great Wii U games. Can we expect more of those Wii U games to find a home on the Switch, as a way of reaching a larger install base?
Reggie Fils-Aime: What I would say is this: the observation you have that, given the install base of Wii U, there was some fantastic content that consumers did not get to play. So that creates certainly a business opportunity. On the other hand, one of the things that we’ve discussed internally is, there really needs to be an additional element to that game to make it fresh, and to further compel the consumer to buy in.
I think the best example of that is Pokken Tournament Deluxe. Additional fighters, that gives the fan a reason to buy into it. Same is true with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, providing a mode that the consumers wanted in terms of a better battle mode, that was then included in that game. And so, I think the way we will continue to evaluate this is: yes, do we have opportunities with great games that maybe were not played as broadly on the Wii U, but then what’s the plus alpha that’s going to make it really compelling for the consumer?
The Wii U ceded victory to competing consoles early on, and small sales numbers (less than 14 million consoles, worldwide) made sure that most gamers never played some of its biggest titles. But Nintendo actually managed to release a few stone-cold classics for the console, and I’d love to see them reborn on the Switch. And after a quick check of the monthly NPD reports, it looks like I’m not alone.
So even though Reggie didn’t deliver an unequivocal “yes,” I think it’s very likely that more Wii U games will make their way to the Switch in the near future.
Xbox Store Today: Valkyria Revolution, The Golf Club 2, Poi, more
Four new games are now available to download through the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox One…
Leading the charge is Sega’s Valkyria Revolution, an action-packed spinoff in the popular Valkyria franchise. Sidestepping the franchise’s traditional turn-based mechanics, Valkyria Revolution includes real-time combat on the front lines and a new art engine that brings its gouache-inspired watercolors to life.
Also available to download today is The Golf Club 2, the latest golf simulation from HB Studios and Maximum Games. Players will be able to compete in the game’s extensive Career Mode, or strike out on their own with a “new and improved” Course Creator.
Finally today, Xbox One owners will also be able to pick up Poi, a 3D platformer featuring two kids on a grand adventure; and Crazy Strike Bowling EX, a wacky anime-inspired bowling game.
More details on all four games can be found after the break. (more…)

Super Mario Odyssey wins “E3 2017 Best of Show” from Game Critics Awards

A marquee upcoming release for the Nintendo Switch has once again claimed “Best of Show” from the Game Critics Awards at the E3 Expo. Super Mario Odyssey took home the big prize this year, along with additional wins for “Best Console Game” and “Best Action/Adventure Game.”
Altogether, Nintendo took home top honors in six categories. Super Mario Odyssey’s trio of statues were joined by “Best Handheld Game” for Metroid: Samus Returns, and “Best Original Game” and “Best Strategy Game” for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
The editors that make up the Game Critics Awards panel made a lot of obvious picks in the rest of the categories, but they also threw in a few surprises. Strong debuts from Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (“Best Action Game”), Destiny 2 (“Best PC Game”), and Forza Motorsport 7 (“Best Racing Game”) lead to a few big wins, but I’m not anyone was expecting Arc System Works to surprise the crowd with Dragon Ball Fighter Z.
All of this year’s winners can be found after the break. (more…)

PS Store This Week: Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Valkyria Revolution, CoD Modern Warfare Remastered, more
It’s another big week for the PlayStation Store as a pair of highly-anticipated remakes are now available to download, along with a spinoff to Sega’s Valkyria strategy series, and more.
Leading the way this Friday is the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for the PS4. Developed by Vicarious Visions, the compilation features rebuilt and remade versions of Crash’s first three adventures… Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. These three platformers helped put the PlayStation on the map, so it might be interesting to revisit them 20 years later.
Also available to download for the PS4 this week is the standalone edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Previously bundled with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Legacy Edition,” the remaster includes the original single-player campaign, as well as most of the game’s multiplayer maps.
If you’re looking for something new, Sega has launched Valkyria Revolution for the PS4 and PS Vita. The latest Valkyria game is actually a spinoff to the strategy-centered series, and focuses on real-time combat for the first time.
Finally this week, developers from the United Kingdom have resurrected two franchises that have been out of the limelight for some time. Micro Machines: World Series will race onto the PS4 courtesy of Codemasters, while Frontier Developments and David Braben have brought back the Elite series with Elite: Dangerous.
You can learn more about all of these games (and a few other new releases) after the break. (more…)

Find out where the bodies are buried when Serial Cleaner launches for PC and consoles in July
Harvey Keitel really helped popularize the idea of a “Cleaner,” someone who disposes of blood and bodies after a murder-for-hire, when he portrayed “The Wolf” in 1994’s Pulp Fiction. Curve Digital and iFun4All really ran with this idea when they created Serial Cleaner, a crime scene cleanup that’ll make its debut on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in July.
Serial Cleaner is set in the swingin’ 70s, and it’ll ask players to hide evidence in a lengthy Story Mode and a tricky Challenge Mode:
Set in the 1970s, Serial Cleaner has players sneak around bloody crime scenes to clean up incriminating evidence by disposing of bodies, covering up bloodstains and hiding murder weapons all while avoiding the police. To succeed players must explore, experiment, and make swift decisions in order to avoid police detection. Get caught and players earn a black mark on their protagonist’s career.
Players must also be wary of their environment as the game uses real-world data to modify levels accordingly with the current time of day in a player’s whereabouts. Noise detection and “sneakability” will vary between night and day, and mean the difference between freedom and jail.
Serial Cleaner will be available for the PS4 on July 11, with a PC and Xbox One launch to follow on July 14. A gameplay trailer has been embedded after the break. (more…)
