Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will bloom on the Wii U, PC, mobile devices this Winter

harvestmoonseedsofmemories-header

After Natsume and original Harvest Moon developer Marvelous parted ways in 2014, the publisher decided to continue the series in North America with the release of Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. Yesterday, they announced their second new Harvest Moon since the split, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. The game is in development for the Wii U, PC, and mobile devices, and will be available this Winter.

“From the farm to the town, we wanted Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories to evoke the feeling of a classic Harvest Moon game with modern twists!” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume. “We’re also excited to finally bring the Harvest Moon series to the Nintendo Wii U, PC, and mobile platforms, where fans have definitely told us they want to see the series.”

Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories brings the franchise to several platforms where its never been before, but the gameplay will be inspired by some of the earliest entries in the series:

Go back to the roots of Harvest Moon in the latest installment of the series! Inspired by the old-school gameplay of the very first games, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories will bring players a sense of nostalgia, along with exciting gameplay twists.

Tasked with the job of revitalizing a farm, players will need to befriend the villagers in town to unlock the titular “Seeds of Memories”! Seeds can be unlocked in many ways, such as giving a villager their favorite item, catching a giant fish, or by raising their first cow. Players will need to be up to the challenge of collecting all of the Seeds of Memories!

If farm life’s not your thing, players will also be able to cook, fish, forage, and mine, while also participating in contests and festivals. Players might even find that special someone among the bachelors and bachelorettes that live nearby.

We’ll get our first look at Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories during this year’s E3 Expo, which opens in less than two weeks.

Ubisoft @ E3 2015: The Division, Rainbow Six: Siege, AC: Syndicate, and a few big surprises

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft has announced their 2015 E3 Press Conference will focus on Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, and “a few big surprises.”

Obviously, we don’t know what those surprises will be yet, but we do know that the publisher’s E3 showcase will once again be hosted by Aisha Tyler. The Ubisoft Press Conference will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, June 15 at 5:45 PM (Eastern Time). Fans can tune in to a live broadcast at a variety of websites including Uplay.com, YouTube, and Twitch.

In case Ubisoft’s lineup is unfamiliar to you, here are a few more details straight from the publisher:

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate: Set in London during the height of the Industrial Revolution, players will step into the shoes of twin Master Assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye. Fighting to liberate London, Jacob and Evie help define the birth of organized crime in an adventure filled with action, intrigue and brutal combat.

Tom Clancy’s The Division: In this immersive online open-world action RPG, players will team up with other Division agents to reclaim New York City from the chaos of a deadly pandemic.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege: Inspired by the reality of counter terrorist operatives across the world, Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of destruction. Intense close quarter confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and tension are at the center of the experience.

If you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area during E3 week, Ubisoft also plans to let members of the public try out these three demos at their Uplay Lounge, which will be located at the SkySpace (the 71st floor of the Bank Tower) on Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17.

PS Store Today: The Escapists, Skulls of the Shogun, Class of Heroes 2G, more

playstationstorelogo

Today’s PlayStation Store has a nice indie bent to it including multiple PS4 titles, a handful of PS3 games, and even a Vita game (though it’s the definitely-not-indie portable rendition of Tetris Ultimate from Ubisoft). So what else is new to the Store this week? Well…

  • The Escapists brings its 8-bit jailbreak sim to the PS4.
  • Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition, an RTS/fighting game hybrid, appears on the PS4 two years after its Xbox 360 debut.
  • Class of Heroes 2G is an RPG that has finally made its way to America more than five years after its Japanese launch.

More information on all of these games (and a few others) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)

Square Enix sets US release of Dragon Quest Heroes for October 13

Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest Heroes will be available for the PS4 on October 13. Although actually, the game’s full title is Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below. The rhyming makes it feel kind of poetic, but it is also long and a bit tongue-twisty.

Thankfully, the publisher also plans to release an extra large Collector’s Edition that’ll be big enough to handle that title. Available exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store, the Slime Collector’s Edition ($99.99) will include:

  • Slime Plushie, Slime Key Chain, and Slime Lanyard.
  • Helpful Slime-themed downloadable content for characters to equip including a Slime Sword, Gooey Gloves, Goomerang, Goopid’s Bow, Squishing Rod, Gungenir, Slime-On-A-Stick, Gooreat Sword, and Splat O’Nine Tails.
  • Bonus quest items including the Gold-Digger’s Map and the Happy Map.

If you’re uninterested in the physical extras, Square Enix will also release a special Day One Edition ($59.99) that only includes some of the in-game bonus items (Slime Sword, Gooey Gloves, Goomerang, Squishing Rod, and Gungenir).

Dragon Quest Heroes is in development at Omega Force and will be on hand at Square Enix’s E3 booth in a few weeks. Like Hyrule Warriors, the action RPG will bring together a variety of heroes from previous Dragon Quest titles in a crossover of epic proportions:

When a dark shockwave sweeps through the city of Arba, the monsters that once lived alongside the people in peace are driven into a frenzied rage. As either the hero, Luceus, or the heroine, Aurora, the player joins forces with a cast of iconic cast from previous Dragon Quest titles, such as Alena, Bianca and Yangus, to bring the rampaging hordes of monsters to their senses and to restore order to the kingdom.

Finally, a brand new trailer for Dragon Quest Heroes was released today. It’s been embedded at the top of the article.

Bethesda is counting down to Fallout 4… probably

fallout4countdownIt’s real. It’s finally happening. Right? Yeah, probably. At least, we hope so. Gah!

Anyway, this morning, visitors to Bethesda’s official website were treated to the image of a Fallout-inspired test pattern and an accompanying countdown clock, which expires tomorrow at 10:00 AM (Eastern Time). Is this the Fallout 4 announcement we’ve all been waiting for? Probably, but it’s just as likely that when the clock strikes zero Bethesda will announce that the real Fallout 4 announcement will take place during their E3 2015 Press Conference, which is set for June 14.

That said, Fallout 4’s status as an in-development project has been a bit of an open secret at Bethesda for several years. Company executives will happily discuss the game and a casting call referencing locations from the series was even made available to the public in 2013.

So, yeah. It’s real and it’s finally happening.

MK4’s Tanya returns in new Mortal Kombat X gameplay trailer

If you’re a Kombat Pass owner, you’ll be able to download a new character for Mortal Kombat X this week. Tanya, an Outworld warrior who made her franchise debut in 1997’s Mortal Kombat 4, will be available to download beginning tomorrow.

NetherRealm Studios released a new gameplay trailer featuring the character to ready their fans for her appearance, and it includes one of the most ridiculous Fatalities the series has ever seen.

Beginning June 9, everyone will be able to download Tanya by herself (for $4.99) or as part of the Tanya Bundle (for $7.99), which also includes new “Klassic” costumes for Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Kano. If you’re only interested in “Klassic Pack 1,” it will also be sold separately for $3.99.

Seriously, check out that Fatality, it is absolutely insane.
