New Releases: Borderlands 2, Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Set, F1 2012, More

The Fall gaming rush has definitely arrived as one of this season’s most anticipated releases, Borderlands 2 (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), will be available in stores this week. If wacky adventures on Pandora in search of loot aren’t your thing, then perhaps you’d prefer to punch it out with your friends thanks to the massive Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set (PS3, Xbox 360).
If neither of these options are to your liking, there’s always the open wheel racing thrills of F1 2012 (PS3, Xbox 360) and several other new releases that can be found after the break. (more…)
Microsoft registers domains for Halo 7, Halo 8, Halo 9
Microsoft famously announced a brand new trilogy of Halo games, specifically Halo 4, Halo 5, and Halo 6, during their E3 2011 Press Conference. That was seen as extreme long-range planning then, but now it’s just getting ridiculous.
According to Fusible, the publisher has recently snapped up a ton of domains related to Halo 7, Halo 8, and Halo 9 including:
- halo7.net
- halo7.org
- halo8.org
- halo9.net
- halo9.org
So let’s see, judging by current development cycles, we should all be playing Halo 7 by 2018. Maybe 2020 at the latest. So start saving for the Super Mega Awesome Edition now!

First Earth Defense Force 4 trailer and details revealed
How many hours have I poured into Earth Defense Force 2017 and Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. Probably more than most people would consider healthy. So it is with great sadness that I tell you that Earth Defense Force 4 still doesn’t have a North American release date. However, what it does have is a debut trailer and some fresh gameplay details courtesy of Famitsu (via Destructoid).
The fourth official game in the series takes place in 2025, eight years after the events of EDF 2017. The Ravagers left a little surprise for humanity after a lone soldier kicked their alien asses. A colony of giant bugs has been growing beneath the Earth’s surface and now they’re ready to strike!
But humanity has a few new tricks of their own. The EDF has been outfitted with weaponry scavenged from the Ravagers previous attack including the jetpack squadron known as “Wing Divers” with their “Foreigner” guns. And taking a page from Insect Armageddon, developer Sandlot also plans to expand on the online multiplayer offerings in EDF4.
Earth Defense Force 4 is in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be available in Japan next year. Let’s hope D3 announces a US release date soon or I might just be forced to unleash a real swarm of giant ants and spiders on the world to get my EDF fix.

Wii U games will be priced at $60

Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s Director of Product Marketing, spoke to GameSpot today and revealed that the majority of Wii U games will be priced at $59.99. This is in line with the average price of a PS3/Xbox 360 new release, but it’s a $10 increase over the Wii’s standard price of $49.99 per game.
This is good news for gamers as Amazon was using $99.96 as their placeholder price on most Wii U games this morning.
Over 50 games will be released during Wii U launch window; 21 games available on day one

While some may quibble with the perceived quality of the Wii U’s launch lineup, no one can question it’s size. Especially in light of today’s announcement that over 50 titles will be available during the “launch window” (which runs from November 18 through March 31, 2013). Nearly half of those titles, 21 to be exact, will be available day one including New Super Mario Bros. U, Scribblenauts Unlimited , ZombieU, and Assassin’s Creed III.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II, other Activision titles, confirmed for Wii U

A Wii U edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops II wasn’t exactly a secret, but today it’s official. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime and Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg have announced that Skylanders Giants, Wipeout 3, 007 Legends, and Transformer Prime will all be available during the Wii U launch window.
Oh, and the duo also announced a little game known as Call of Duty: Black Ops II. But you’re not interested in that, are you?
