Rumor: This might be a screenshot from a new Prince of Persia game
The word on the street is that this is a screenshot from an early build of the rumored Prince of Persia Zero, a brand new game in the franchise that would take place in present day. At the bottom of the photo, the text includes “POP_ZERO_2,” though of course this could just be someone’s elaborate Photoshop job. The photo was posted by a user in Ubisoft’s official forums, according to Kotaku.
Could this mean a fresh new start for the series? Based on this screenshot, the game will take place in Egypt, and the protagonist would be a black Prince, deviating from the traditional Persian theme of the games. Maybe Ubisoft is planting the image to see what kind of interest people still have in the series. That may seem laughable, but I put that right up there with people using Photoshop to troll the Internet.

Army of Two 3 announced; EA gives development duties to Visceral
Game Informer has revealed the cover of their September issue, and it’s EA’s Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. They’ve handed the reins over to Visceral Montreal, who have proven their mettle with the much-loved Dead Space franchise. There are a lot of changes being made – there will be two new characters, Alpha and Bravo, as well as a more mature storyline and feel to the game. The game will also be developed using the Frostbite 2 engine, which is great news for… well… everyone.
Producer Zach Mumbach said, “I felt like the first two Army games were good games, but they weren’t great games. They were memorable and they were fun to play, but they weren’t on that level where you’re going to tell all your friends, ‘Man, you have to play this game.” I think that Visceral being involved, especially on Frostbite 2, is just a huge opportunity.”
Game Informer has their hands-on impression in the issue, as well as some video coverage on their site. All I have to say is that this better not interfere with the development of Dead Space 3, or limbs are going to roll. (I’ll have to cut off the rolly ones.)

Daily Scoop: August 3, 2012 – Friday!
There’s nothing going on today at all – no deals, no t-shirts, no nothing. All that is happening today is that it is Friday, it is beautiful, and I am happy. Of course, I still really want to buy this shirt, and I wish I had Gravity Rush so I could chain myself to my Vita and play it to death, and I want to kidnap a kitten, but other than that, life is good. Oh, and homework still sucks. The end.
Well hey, at least I’ll be playing D&D all weekend! Starting tomorrow morning at 11 and finishing sometime Sunday night, we are going to rock out with our upper-level characters out. Epic level, here we come! I hope everyone has a happy weekend, and if you’re at the beach, ride some waves for me, will you?

Daily Scoop: August 2, 2012 – Just Dance
So, last night, after work, I decided to do some working out. I hadn’t exercised at all for a long time, so I thought maybe a little Just Dance would do the trick. Half an hour later, I was sweaty, happy, and wanted to play for another half an hour, but instead, put in Disney Sing It: Party Hits and belted out some family-friendly tunes. Am I 13? Jury’s out.
Sadly, there’s not much going on deals-wise today. I have been trying to find a good deal on a Wii Remote and a GameCube controller, mostly so that my boyfriend and I can play New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario Kart: Double Dash, but they’re all just so darn expensive! Also, can you believe I only have one controller for each of those systems? Considering how long it took me to even remember how to connect my Wii (and wipe off all the dust), I’m not surprised, but the GameCube? For shame.
Just one shirt today, but it mega rocks: (more…)

Daily Scoop: August 1, 2012 – I miss Encounters
I haven’t been to D&D Encounters much this season because… well… it was really terrible. At my table, we had five deaths in four weeks – yikes! And I mean actual deaths. My character went from single digits to negative bloodied in one hit. That should never even be a thing that happens! Anyway, the next season will be starting up soon, so here’s hoping it’s a better one!
There are no good deals for you today. In fact, there’s nothing interesting at all going on at Amazon, unless you count the recommendations it’s been making me (trust me, you don’t want to know). But there is one awesome thing going on, and that’s the Ukiyo-e Heroes Kickstarter, an amazing Japanese woodblock print project. It’s a mashup of that old art style with – you guessed it – video games. It’s incredible and you should totally throw money at it.
Just one t-shirt today, but it’s a pretty good one… (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 31, 2012 – Board Game Night!
Hooray for Tuesday! It’s sort of become my favorite day of the week, because of Board Game Night at Redcap’s Corner. My boyfriend and I meet some friends there and play some mixture of games – I’ve had an addiction to Lords of Waterdeep lately, and King of Tokyo is always a big hit. Yay for board games!
Anyway, let’s talk some deals, shall we? GameStop has a bunch of crazy deals going on right now that they’re calling GameStock 2012. The featured deal right now is $20 off Warner Bros. games, including Mortal Kombat and Batman: Arkham City. There are lots of other deals, too – like getting 50% off a three-month XBL Gold membership if you buy an Xbox 360 console, and $10 off any WB-published Lego game (that one ends today!). And don’t forget to check out all the pre-owned deals.
One super awesome t-shirt, coming right up… (more…)

Daily Scoop: July 30, 2012 – Just another panicked Monday
The weekends just got better with the return of “Breaking Bad.” But now my Sunday nights are spent watching that and “True Blood,” usually while eating Chinese food and trying to stay awake. Oh yeah, and doing homework. That last part is lame, but the other parts are awesome, so that’s ok!
Let’s see, deals today… well, let’s start with the latest sale going on over at Amazon, which is just called the Summer of Games: Deals on Summer Sports Titles. Riveting already, yes? You can get Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics for $29.99, or London 2012 for $39.99, or Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 for $19.99. Scoop ’em up!
The new weekly deals are up as well:
- Save 31% on Street Fighter X Tekken Fight Sticksfor PS3 Xbox 360
- Save 33% on Sonic the Hedgehog Limited Edition Individually Numbered Figure 2X Inductive Charger for Wii
- Get $10 off the Sonic the Hedgehog 2X Inductive Charger for Wii

Trion Worlds to publish Crytek’s Warface
Trion Worlds recently announced that it will be publishing Crytek’s Warface, a free-to-play social first-person shooter, in North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand. The game is currently live in Russia with two million registered users, and won awards at the Russian KRI Awards for Best Game and Best Graphics.
CEO and founder of Crytek, Cevat Yerli, had this to say: “Trion is the company spearheading a revolution in gaming through delivering premium online games across big genres powered by a proven, cutting edge platform. The combination of this platform, GFACE and Warface shows Crytek’s commitment to finding innovative new ways to bring superior gaming experiences and AAA titles to gamers. That’s why we are creating strong strategic alliances with the best online publishers across the world.”
Dr. Lars Buttler, CEO and founder of Trion Worlds, said, “Crytek has repeatedly proven their foresight and they are doing that again by leading the shift towards delivering high-quality, free-to-play, online games. We are very impressed with Warface and Crytek’s commitment to polished gameplay, amazing graphics, technical excellence, and real innovation. We very much feel that we are kindred companies and stand strong together.”
Warface features cooperative multiplayer missions as well as PVP all sent in a “player versus environment” which is updated constantly. Add in Cryengine 3, and you’ve potentially got a recipe for success.
