Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition gets a September release date
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is coming to PCs next month, just 14 years after the initial release of the original Baldur’s Gate. The enhanced edition will be running on a version of the Infinity Engine that has been upgraded and improved. There’s a lot of new stuff here, including a new adventure called “The Black Pits,” three new characters: Dorn Il-Khan, Neera the Wild Mage, and Rasaad yn Bashir, and lots more:
- A new collection of player character voice sets
- Native support for high resolution widescreen displays
- Over 400 improvements to the original game
- Improved multiplayer support, with connectivity between all platforms
The Enhanced Edition will be available for PC download on September 18 for $19.99 and is available for pre-order now. It is also scheduled to be released sometime in September for the iPad and Mac, with an Android release to be announced.

Kaz Yamauchi reconfirms Gran Tursimo 6 is in development
Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of Gran Turismo, has reconfirmed that Gran Turismo 6 is in development, and has been since the completion of Gran Turismo 5. He made the announcement at the China Joy gaming event in Shanghai, according to Kotaku. Yamauchi also told the crowd about bringing the series to the Vita, saying, “If we made it, I’d want it to have this: the ability to play and use 3G whenever.” Well, the Vita sounds like a perfect match, in that case!
This was confirmed back in November of last year, but it’s nice to have reconfirmation. As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with the end of that Kotaku article, where Brian Ashcraft wrote that “now the race is to see how many Forza games rival studio Turn 10 can race out before Gran Turismo 6 is eventually completed in the year 20XX.” Well played, Ashcraft. Well played.

Daily Scoop: July 27, 2012 – Hellooooooooooo Friday!
So there are no new deals going on, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing for you to buy! Amazon is still having all those deals I mentioned Monday, as well as that sale on Wii products, and the other sale on PlayStation 3 games. There’s also that ludicrous sale still going on at Best Buy. Scoop ’em up! All the games.
And, of course, there are shirts to be bought: (more…)

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn officially announced for PC and PS3
Square Enix has rebuilt Final Fantasy XIV from the ground up, complete with a brand new world and storyline as well as a new name: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This MMORPG will take place in Eorzea on the planet Hydaelyn. The game “centers on the core concept of rebirth, featuring a new world to explore and storyline to experience,” according to the announcement.
Naoki Yoshida, Producer and Director of Final Fantasy XIV, said, “Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new Final Fantasy XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the Final Fantasy series. I hope you’re looking forward to it!”
If you’re one of those people looking forward to it, check out the official website. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be out “soon” for PC and PS3.

Daily Scoop: July 26, 2012 – Feeling hot, hot, hot
Another day, another ludicrous temperature spike! I hate hearing words like “heat index” and “will feel like 105 degrees” and “is it hot enough for you?” Yes. It’s been hot enough for me since May, thanks very much. And to think, it’s not even August yet…
Anyway, what’s going on today on the wide world of the Internet? Well, there are some discounted PlayStation 3 games over at Amazon, marked down to $19.99. Included are some must-haves, like The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, Heavy Rain: Director’s Cut, and Killzone 2. Also listed is a WarHawk Bundle with Bluetooth Headset. A PS3 bluetooth headset for $19.99? That’s worth it alone. Scoop ’em up!
I’ve also got two shirts and some other cool stuff for you after the jump! (more…)

“Death Comes For All” in this new Darksiders II trailer
Darksiders II is coming out in just a few weeks, and this new trailer doesn’t make the wait any easier. This is an all-gameplay trailer, too, which means everything you’re seeing is what you’ll be playing. I have to say, I like the character design for Death. He’s less Grim Reaper and more… well… bad-ass horseman. I dig it.
Darksiders II comes out on August 14 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Daily Scoop: July 25, 2012 – Happy humpday!
I know, I know, I spend way too many Wednesdays talking about how happy I am that it’s the middle of the week. But be truthful: you’re happy the week’s almost halfway done, too! Don’t deny it. It’s practically a cold, hard fact at this point!
Anyway, what deals are up today? Well, Amazon’s having a sale on Wii products, which includes Just Dance 3 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 for $9.99.
Too bad Kirby’s Epic Yarn is $24.96 because I would be all over that for less than $10.
I’ve got a few shirts for you, though one has nothing to do with video games… (more…)

Fortress comes to the App Store on August 2
Recently, Philadelphia has become the city of burgeoning game development, ranging from small studios heading to PAX Prime to one-man companies like Ray Merkler’s Hindrances to Progress releasing its first game. I say “recently,” but in reality, this is just years of work by people like Merkler finally paying off. His first game, Fortress, will be released on the App Store on August 2 for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
Fortress is a strategy game played with a simple (and pretty adorable) deck of cards. The cards act as soldiers in a colorful army, defending your own King, while you try to destroy your opponent’s fortress. The game is fun and easy to learn, but tickles your brain only the way strategy can. I played my first game of it years ago against Merkler himself, and while he wiped the Fortress floor with me, I enjoyed it, and look forward to its long-awaited release.
Fortress will be $2.99 at launch, but will drop down to $0.99 after two weeks. Support indepedent games and buy it when it comes out! Or wait until it’s under a buck, ya scrooge. Either way, this entertaining little strategy game is worth having on your iDevice.
