Daily Scoop: June 28, 2011 – Uncharted 3 Beta time!
The day has finally arrived: the Uncharted 3 beta will be available for download in just a few short hours! I’m personally freaking out. The Uncharted 2 beta completely destroyed my life when it came out, so I’m eagerly anticipating having my life trashed once again. Sleep? Who needs it! Check out Mike “The G Spot” Gutierrez’s news post about it for more details.
What else? Well, Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Cataclysm for the PC, on sale today for $19.99. If you’ve been waiting for this expansion, I’d definitely say that 50% off is a good deal!
No game-related t-shirts today, but the cleverness at Tee Fury made me chuckle:
Tee hee!

Daily Scoop: June 24, 2011 – Friday deals!
We’ve got a lot of deals for you today! First up is a great one at Amazon – their Deal of the Day in video games, which is Batman: Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition. Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are just $19.99 today. If you don’t already own this game, you must pick it up! It’s excellent, and will help prepare you for the October 18 release date of Batman: Arkham City.
Amazon’s also got loads of bonus offers up right now, including $25 promotional credit for buying a Nintendo 3DS, Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures, and the PlayStation Move Starter Bundle. Whew. That’s a lot of promotional credit!
I love today’s Ript shirt, aptly titled “Give Me A Hand:”
Can you figure out who all of these hands belong to?!?!

Daily Scoop: June 23, 2011 – Thrilling Thursday
Well, not really a thrilling Thursday, or even a Thriller Thursday, though we might have some thunder (and lightning) later. I’m not even really sure what I’m getting at here!
At least we’ve got Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games, which is Sega’s Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS. It’s $13.99, and features all four Sonic games from the Sega Genesis. Whether you’re a newcomer to the series or a huge fan who wants to play it at any available chance, this is a good deal for you and the perfect way to celebrate Sonic’s 20th birthday!
No video game shirts, but today’s Tee Fury shirt, called “Definition of a Turtle,” is definitely worth a mention:
Leonardo + typographic art = one amazing t-shirt.

Daily Scoop: June 22, 2011 – Happy humpday!
It’s Wednesday at last! The middle of the week is upon us, in all its glory. Can you see Friday there, just over the crest?
The black hole created by yesterday’s Gold Box Event left us with only Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games, which is WB’s Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS. At $12.99, it’s almost worth buying, but considering this game was so disappointing I didn’t even bother with Super Scribblenauts, I would pass. In fact, I would probably recommend getting the second one instead, even though I don’t have the heart to get it myself. I’m just too sad.
But hey, at least there are some amazing t-shirts today! The most relevant one to your interests, dear reader, is today’s Ript shirt, which is called “Super Subzero Bros” and is one of the greatest things ever created:
Instabuy.

New Catherine trailer doesn’t give you many choices
“Meet the two women with (almost) the same name who are complicating Vincent’s life. Who would you choose?” Hmm, I don’t know – Vincent probably should have given Catherine a fake name and only gone to her apartment instead of letting her know where he lives. Then he could have a baby with Katherine and still have a little Catherine on the side.
Wait, what am I talking about? He should obviously just go live with the sheep and become some kind of monk. Duh.
Catherine launches on July 26 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You should totally order the deluxe edition.
Lego Universe getting free-to-play version
Great news, Lego fans! Lego Universe, the adorable and innovative MMO for the PC, will be getting a free-to-play trial area for people who don’t want to commit to paying without testing the waters first. As of this August, players will be able to try a limited section of the game, including two “adventure zones” and a “player property area” for as long as they want. The game will also be available as a digital download, getting rid of the disc completely. The idea is to “make the game more accessible to players, without the immediate obligation to purchase or subscribe,” according to Jesper Vilstrup, the Vice President of the LEGO Group. Add to that the fact that there are no plans to introduce micro-transactions, and I’d say they’re doing a good job.
Those interested in getting full game access can subscribe for just $10 a month, giving them full access to over 15 adventure zones and five player property areas, as well as gaining access to competitive and community events and new expansions (did someone say Ninjago???). It’s tempting me right now, as the stigma I associate with World of Warcraft ends up sticking to anything with the word MMO in, around, or on it. Lego Universe has a much nicer ring to it.
Daily Scoop: June 21, 2011 – Gold Box Event!
Ah, another Amazon Gold Box Event, just for video game nerds! The Deal of the Day is Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Bundle with $100 Promotional Credit – which works out really well for people like me, because the 250 GB Xbox 360 hard drive is on sale for $84.99. If you’ve been waiting to pick up the new Xbox 360 with Kinect, this is a great time to do so!
The rest of the Gold Box Event is as follows:
- 6 AM PDT: Bring the fitness club to your living room – This one’s ExerBeat for Wii – $14.99!
- 8 AM PDT: Blend banana-collecting puzzles with manic action gameplay – It’s Super Monkey Ball 3D for $21.99!
- 10 AM PDT: Now in its tenth year, this franchise returns with number 7 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 – This one is Dynasty Warriors 7 for $39.99!
- 12 PM PDT: Explore iconic settings including Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest – No surprise that this is Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 for $14.99!

- 4 PM PDT: Listen to your game like it was meant to be heard
- 6 PM PDT: Latest iteration of a storied fighter franchise

Huh. Well, I was hoping for Infamous 2 to be on sale, but hey – beggars can’t be choosers, amirite?
