Daily Scoop: October 20, 2014 – Huge Humble Bundle
I’m still feeling a bit under the weather, but a weekend on the couch with Anthony Amato and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was pretty awesome. We curled up with Wilhelm and Nisha and brought the law to some mangy scavs. It was awesome!
But let’s talk about the best deal of the day: the Humble Flash Bundle, which benefits Extra Life! Pay what you want for Potatoman Seeks the Troof, the closed beta for Trove, Defiance, Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut, a one-week closed beta key for Landmark, a 30-day subscription to Twitch Turbo, and a 30-day subscription to reddit gold. Pay $6 or more to unlock You Don’t Know Jack Classic Pack, King Arthur’s Gold, early access to Speedrunners, and Rift. Finally, pay $13 or more to unlock early access to Nom Nom Galaxy and four copies of King Arthur’s Gold (called the “Squad Pack”). That’s a LOT of games!
Steam has over 60 games that will be on sale in their Week-Long Deals, including Rock of Ages for $1.99, OTTTD for $6.59, and Crystals of Time for $0.99. Their Daily Deal is one I’ve been enjoying on the PlayStation 4, and that’s Road Not Taken, which is on sale for $7.49. It comes from the same company that made the adorable (and addictive) Triple Town, a developer called Spry Fox. Give them your money!
Finally, let’s check out some t-shirts!

Daily Scoop: October 17, 2014 – Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has arrived… for me!
Well, it only took them three straight days and more than a few emails, but Gearbox finally sent me an “Appreciation” code for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Hopefully the code works, and I’ll be able to lay down and play some tonight! The bad news is, I’ve got an awful headache, which may mean no gaming for me. Time (and Tylenol) will tell!
The Humble Store is having a huge sale on Devolver Digital games this weekend! Shadow Warrior is $9.99, Hatoful Boyfriend is $4.99, Hotline Miami is $2.49, and Luftrausers is $4.99, among others. And the Steam Daily Deal is one of my favorite PC games – The Stanley Parable! Pick up this wacky indie game for just $5.09.
Let’s wrap this up like we always do: with some t-shirts!

Gearbox’s “Customer Appreciation” Debacle: A Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Non-Review

This is where my review of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel would be, if I had received the game on time. I received a free code for the game – a “Certificate of Appreciation” – from Gearbox when I went to their panel at PAX East. PAX Prime attendees of their panel also got Certificates. But many people who received these Certificates are just now getting game codes – or still waiting for them – three days after the game was released. (more…)
Daily Scoop: October 16, 2014 – You guessed it: Still no Borderlands
Someone really dropped the ball over at Gearbox. It’s two days since it came out, and there are still people – myself included – who haven’t received their “customer appreciation” codes for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. If this is how 2K shows “appreciation,” I’m not sure I want to be “appreciated” by them!
Enough about disappointment! Let’s talk about some good stuff. This week’s Humble Weekly Bundle is the Vancouver Edition! Pay what you want for Shank, Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episodes One and Two, The Baconing, and early access to Boximals Bounce. Pay $6 or more to unlock Shank 2 and Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition.
Over at Steam, they’re offering Payday 2 for free all weekend – play all you want until October 19th. The Daily Deal is Strike Vector for just $2.99. Scoop ’em up!
I’ve got just one great shirt for you today!

Daily Scoop: October 15, 2014 – Still no code for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Well, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has been out for a day and a half now, and many people who received free vouchers from PAX East and PAX Prime still have not received the game. While I don’t want to complain about something that’s free, it’s hard not to be frustrated. I thought I’d already be level 10 by now, but instead, I haven’t even downloaded the game to my system yet. This is really bad form, 2K. There has been no official word on it – just people posting in forums, commiserating. Here’s hoping all of our codes come soon!
Anyway, it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other games to play in the interim! There are a couple of sales happening over at the Humble Store. Brand new Legend of Grimrock II is $21.59, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is $7.49, and Fotonica is $4.99. Over at Steam, the Daily Deal is 66% off Deponia: The Complete Journey, putting it down to $13.59.
There are some new games to pick up over at Indie Royale in their Mixer 9 Bundle! Beat the average and score Krunch, Jets’n’Guns Gold, Dungeons the Eye of Draconus, StaudSoft’s Synthetic World, The Legend of the Artifact, 8BitBoy, Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted, Chompy Chomp Chomp, Coldfire Keep, and Victim of Xen.
There are a few sweet t-shirts today – hit the jump to check them out!

Daily Scoop: October 14, 2014 – Delay on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel PAX Codes
I got a free code for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel back at PAX East, and Gearbox also gave away codes at their PAX Prime panel as well. They said they would be sending them out starting at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time), but so far, all I’m seeing are people complaining about not getting them. Though in all fairness, the people who DID get them are probably off playing the game and not sitting around refreshing Twitter. Here’s hoping we get ours soon!
If you’re not into those Borderlands games, don’t worry – there’s plenty you can pick up today. There’s the brand new Humble Mozilla Bundle over at Humble, which is all browser games. Pay what you want for Super Hexagon, Aaaaa! for the Awesome, Osmos, Zen Bound 2, and Dustforce DX. Beat the average to unlock Voxatron and FTL: Advanced Edition. Finally, pay $8 or more to unlock Democracy 3.
That’s not all. At Steam, the Midweek Madness deal is a massive sale on the Tomb Raider franchise, and the recent reboot is just $3.99. And over at Indie Royale, they’ve got the Soapsuds Bundle. Beat the average and get Asteria, Procyon, Revolution Ace, Morphopolis, Blast Em!, and Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome.
There are a couple of great shirts today, so let’s jump right in!

Daily Scoop: October 13, 2014 – Almost time for Blands!
In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve got a one-track mind. It’s not long now before Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel comes out, which is awesome! Let the serious countdown to this trip to the moon begin…
There’s a brand new Flash Bundle happening over at Humble Bundle. Pay what you want for Critical Mass, Party of Sin, Postmortem: One Must Die (Extended Cut, and Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge. Pay $7 or more to unlock OTTTD and Megabyte Punch. But this one will go fast, so hop on it now!
There are plenty of Weeklong Deals happening at Steam, including Bulletstorm and Skulls of the Shogun for $4.99 each, as well as 82 more. The Daily Deal is early access to Planet Explorers for $14.99.
Now let’s check out the first t-shirts of the week!

Daily Scoop: October 10, 2014 – Working for the weekend
It’s almost the weekend, and here, at least, the weather’s going to be on the wetter side! Hopefully that means I’ll get some time to sit under a blanket and play some games. I wish Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was out already, but just a few more days to wait!
There’s not much in the way of deals today. Over at the Humble Store, you can pick up The Legend of Grimrock for $20.39, TRI for $13.45, The Impossible Game for $0.99, and Fract for $7.49, among others.
The Weekend Deal at Steam is Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja STORM 3 Full Burst. It’s on sale for $9.99, which is 67% off.
Let’s close this out with some t-shirts, shall we?
