Give me Assassin’s Creed III or give me death!
Ubisoft released the boxart for Assassin’s Creed III today and, as rumored, the franchise will be jumping forward to Revolutionary War times.
While we don’t know which of Desmond’s ancestors this is, the white robe shows he’s definitely an assassin. And the tomahawk and quiver show that he’s likely part Native American (or he was captured as a child like Mary Jemison). But Native American or not, that Redcoat’s brain is definitely about to get very drafty.
Assassin’s Creed III will be released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 30. More details will be revealed in a few days, probably during the Game Developers Conference.
Gravity Rush accelerates into stores on June 12
Ever wish you could walk on walls, fly through the air, and basically control gravity while saving the planet from some monsters? Well your wish has been granted via the Playstation Vita with Gravity Rush, out June 12. Newton would scoff at how easily you’ll be able to bend his laws of physics but appreciate the liberal use of apples in the trailer.
Gravity storms have been tearing apart the world and it is up to a strange girl named Kat, with the inexplicable power to manipulate gravity, to save the population from the requisite hoard of monsters. The distinct, cell-shaded art style looks beautiful and the open world level design is sure to keep you engrossed in the action. Using all the features the Vita has to offer, you can hurl Kat in any direction with a flick of your finger or a tap on either of the screens. Just hold on tight, you don’t want to accidentally flick your shiny new console out the window where it’ll achieve terminal velocity.
You can pick up Gravity Rush this summer on the PSN or as a game card in brick and mortar retailers.

8-Bit Funding provides an alternative to Kickstarter for funding indies
8-Bit Funding, a crowd-funding website launched in 2011 and targeted towards game focused projects, was recently acquired by the management team behind Indie Game Magazine in an effort to resurrect the site and create awareness and excitement among gamers and developers. 8-Bit Funding brings with it the support of DIY Gamer, an indie game website that will be used to promote the best game campaigns. Campaigns will also be featured on IGM.
8-Bit Funding is targeted towards gamers, and focuses primarily on alpha and beta game funding, but is also open to to non-video gaming related independent projects like board games, card games, and pen-and-paper role-playing games. 8-Bit is an international website, and allows developers from all over the world to start a campaign, so get cracking!

Better Draw Something on your iPhone while the social cred it gives you is still legal tender!
Wanna know what the hipsters at your neighborhood gastropub are tweeting about while you try to figure out why anyone would drink a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon?
It’s an iPhone app called Draw Something, and it’s been downloaded over four million times with very little press coverage to support it. Even celebrities like Questlove and My Chemical Romance have been sharing their drawings on their Twitter feeds.
CEO of OMGPop Dan Porter attributes the success of the game to social media platforms, saying “People are taking to these social channels to share their drawings, and that is causing the game to spread.”
Draw Something is available for download on Android and iOS in both free-to-play and premium versions. If I were you, I’d see what the hype is all about before your mom starts posting Instagrams of her drawings on Facebook, and you’re left in the dust.

MW3: New Elite map dropping March 13; Content Collection #1 coming March 20

The time has finally come. If you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for the Xbox 360 and you’re not a Call of Duty Elite subscriber, you’ll finally be able to download the game’s new maps.
But first, on March 13, Activision will release the multiplayer map “Black Box” and two Special Ops missions (“Black Ice” and “Negotiator”) for free for Xbox 360-owning Call of Duty Elite subscribers:
In “Black Box,” players will battle beside a downed Air Force One amidst multi-level homes overlooking the luxurious Southern California neighborhood. Infiltrating a diamond mine aboard a snowmobile in the Special Ops mission “Black Ice,” your primary objective is to plant high-grade explosives in order to shut the mine down forever. In “Negotiator,” you head to India for high-stakes hostage extraction in which you’ll breach-and-clear rooms and navigate surface streets to ensure the safety of your VIPs.
On March 20, Activision will compile all the Elite DLC together as the Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection #1 for non-Elite Xbox 360 players. It’ll contain the multiplayer maps “Liberation,” “Piazza,” “Overwatch,” and “Black Box.” The pack will also include the two Special Ops missions. Pricing was not announced.
So that’s your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC update for today. The Content Collection #1 will be available for PC and PS3 users at a later date.

Madden NFL 13 Cover Nominees: NFC West
Are you ready for some football? How about a long and drawn out fan vote to decide who will appear on the cover of Madden NFL 13? Well, EA Sports has you covered on both.
Every day this week, the Madden-maker will continue to reveal each division’s nominees for the game’s cover. The 64-player tournament will initially include two players from each team. Beginning March 7, fans can head over to the ESPN SportsNation Facebook Page to decide who will represent each team in the final 32-player bracket.
Today’s nominees come from the NFC West:
Arizona Cardinals
Larry Fitzgerald or Patrick Peterson
San Francisco 49ers
Vernon Davis or Patrick Willis
Seattle Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch or Earl Thomas
St. Louis Rams
Brandon Lloyd or Chris Long
Now we’re getting somewhere. Fitzgerald is a former Madden coverboy and Patrick Willis is one of the best defensive players in the league. But are either of them deserving for the cover of Madden NFL 13? They’ve got to come out on top of the play-in round first.
Chuck Norris stomps the Mushroom Kingdom in Chuck vs Super Mario Bros.
8-bit Chuck Norris doesn’t run to the castle. The castle comes to him.
The latest Video Game Mashup from YouTube user Daneboe stars a pixelated version of everyone’s favorite Internet celebrity as he stomps all over the Mushroom Kingdom. Then he roundhouse kicks Toad and then he… well, the end is just too disturbing for words. You’re going to have to watch it yourself.
Enjoy!
Kingdoms of Amalur’s story continues March 20 with The Legend of Dead Kel

The story for EA’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will expand next month thanks to the recently announced expansion, The Legend of Dead Kel. Man, I hope Kenan didn’t do it, that would break my heart.
Mildly obscure mid-90s references aside, The Legend of Dead Kel opens up the land of Gallows End, “a gigantic new continent to explore.” There, players will claim ownership of an estate and “experience new weapons, Twists of Fate and other perks against new enemies.” Finally, the expansion will offer “numerous side quests, multiple dungeons to explore and a colorful cast of characters.”
All this can be yours on March 20 for 800 Microsoft Points (from the Xbox Live Marketplace) or $10 (from Origin, Steam, or the PlayStation Store).
