Portal 2 has levels with motion control… on the PC?

Even though Valve was adamant in their stance on not making Portal 2 compatible with the Move – let alone the Kinect – it is compatible with new motion-sensing controllers for the PC. The Razer Hydra, by Razer, can be purchased standalone or in a bundle with Portal 2, and there are six special levels created just for the new controllers.

Razer collaborated with Sixsense and Valve to make this power happen. Gabe Newell said that the controller “is a significant step forward for the PC gaming industry because it not only affords an almost-physical experience for gamers, but also presents developers an opportunity to innovate and significantly push the boundaries on new forms of gameplay and entertainment.”

It’s also already compatible with over 125 PC games, including World of Goo and another of Valve’s hits, Left 4 Dead. Sixsense’s CEO, Amir Rubin, feels that this collaboration has “established the PC as the best platform for motion gaming” and that the levels made for Portal 2 “allow gamers to fully experience the possibilities of motion gaming.”

I don’t know if jumping onto the motion controller bandwagon will establish the PC as the best platform. Now that the PC has caved and joined the fray, gamers who desperately hoped that motion gaming was a fad will now have to embrace the grim reality: it’s here to stay, and now it’s even on your computer.

The Razer Hydra will be available in June for a price of $139.99 (and that includes a copy of Portal 2).

Mario & Sonic officially going to the London 2012 Olympic Games

When the first two games in a series sell nearly 20 million copies worldwide, a third is almost inevitable. And when said game involves Mario and Sonic, you can probably forget about the “almost.” A leaked logo for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games appeared last week, and today, Sega and Nintendo made it official.

In development at Sega for the 3DS and Wii, the acronym-tastic MASATL2012OG will feature over 50 Olympic events including new sports such as soccer and equestrian competitions.

“These games bring together two of the most beloved characters in the history of the video game industry in Mario and Sonic. As veterans of both video games and Olympic games, they will arrive in London as a formidable team to provide fun, competitive sporting activities that friends and family members can enjoy together,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

A release date wasn’t revealed, but Nintendo and Sega promised they’ll announce one later this year.

Miyamoto: “Super Mario 3DS is a combination of Galaxy, Mario 64”

The 3DS’ lineup is slowly starting to fill out. Ocarina of Time 3D has been given a release date. Star Fox 64 3D has a date in Japan, with an American one sure to follow. And now, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed a little about the (currently untitled) Super Mario Bros. 3DS.

The famed developer told Edge: “It’s a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and [Super Mario 64]. It won’t convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3 that will give you more understanding of what I’m talking about.”

Learning that the next 3D Mario game will play like the previous 3D Mario games isn’t too surprising. Nor is finding out that the raccoon tail in the game’s logo refers to the return of the Super Leaf from Super Mario Bros. 3: “The tail you mentioned on the logo – it’s what you think it is. You probably know what’s going to happen using that character.”

Miyamoto finished the interview by revealing that Super Mario Bros. 3DS will be brand new (“completely original” he says) and that it’s coming this year.

But I guess we’ll have to wait until E3 to learn more.

Royalty Gone Wild! William and Kate get married in The Sims 3

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is eight days away and EA has decided to take the piss out of the happy couple (What? They’re British.) Using The Sims 3, the publisher has created their own version of the royal wedding complete with a drunk Harry, a fainting Charles and a Queen Elizabeth that gets jiggy with it.

What? She does get jiggy with it.

Daily Scoop: April 21, 2011 – Are you ready for some…football?

It’s a quiet Thursday. Most people are still recovering from Tuesday’s explosion of games, while others are getting restless and running around outside in the beautiful weather. Some of us are still on the hunt for good deals, though!

I’m afraid there’s not much to share with you today. All I’ve really got is the Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is EA’s Madden NFL 11. It’s $29.99 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, $19.99 for the Wii, and $9.99 for the PlayStation 2. This is a great deal, so pick this up if you like football games!

Nothing on the t-shirt front, unless you want to go to a Jawa Keg Party:

LOL!

Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version has a trailer

When Nintendo’s eShop for the 3DS launches next month, you’ll be able to get your hands on Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version, a paid demo for the full game, similar to what we’ve seen with Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy: Prologus on PSN in March. The game looks to let you play as Barrett, one of the new characters, flying throughout the city and taking on those Bonnes.

I assume.
