Dead Space 2 launch trailer dismembers the imagination
To the left you will find a candid photo of our very own Senior Editor Nicole Kline, utterly blown away in awe at just how awesome Dead Space 2 gameplay is. The picture was taken as she played the demo at PAX Prime last September, and you can expect it on every piece of coverage here at Warp Zoned on Visceral Games’ latest entry in their sci-fi odyssey. EA has released a new trailer depicting some of the jaw dropping moments you can expect from the sequel, as well as quotes from popular gaming media outlets on just how great it is. Even if you haven’t played the first one, you should absolutely check the video below. As I said in our initial podcast, I truly believe this is going to do for Visceral Games what Uncharted 2 did for Naughty Dog.

Sony highlights 20 exclusive PS3 games for 2011
My head nearly exploded when I read the PlayStation Blog’s PS3 2011 preview list of their 20 exclusive games. “Nearly every major PlayStation series is making an appearance in 2011,” wrote Sid Shuman, Senior Social Media Specialist, commenting on the fact that Mortal Kombat will be featuring everyone’s favorite anger management candidate, Kratos. So just what else can PS3 owners expect? With titles like Killzone 3, inFAMOUS 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, and more, maybe this is the annual joke coming true: this could just be the mythical year of the PlayStation 3.
The post revealed some important release date information. Team ICO’s The Last Guardian has been narrowed down to Holiday 2011, and Yakuza 4 will be released on March 15th. Nothing has been set for PixelJunk Shooter 2 or Twisted Metal yet, but I’m hoping to get my hands on the Q-Games sequel sooner rather than later. There are also some quirky titles listed, like Idea Factory’s Hyperdimension Neptunia, an RPG about – what else? – the video game industry. Check out all the details at the PlayStation Blog.
Motorstorm Apocalypse imploding store shelves on April 12
Off-road racing fanatics and PlayStation 3 owners can rejoice that MotorStorm Apocalypse has met its Spring release date and will be on sale April 12, 2011.
From Monument Valley, to The Island, to the Arctic Regions, this fourth installment in the over-the-top series takes us to a city as structures collapse all around us and frantic looters run the streets. The game aims to be more action-packed than ever before with spur of the moment destruction and stereoscopic 3D. Having played the game myself at PAX Prime, I can assure the skeptics that this game is one of the best arguments as to why 3D can take gaming to the next level.
Sony has also unveiled the game’s final boxart, which you can spy to your right. Personally, I think it looks a little cheesy next to the awesome European art. But then, isn’t that always the case?
I’ve been a big fan of the series since it launched on the PlayStation 3 and MotorStorm Arctic Edge is still frequently in my rotation of PSP games. If the final product is anything like the demo, we can expect this one to not only live up to expectations, but completely blow them away.

Activision taps Beenox to develop future Spider-Man games
As Spider-Man Uncle Ben always said, “With great power, comes great responsibility.” So it seems rather fitting that Activision is about to bestow great power and great responsibility on Beenox, the developer of last Fall’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
The megapublisher has announced that Beenox has been named the primary developer on upcoming games starring the superhero. While Activision didn’t go into specifics about the wallcrawler’s next video game adventure, an investor’s call in November revealed a new Spider-Man game is in the works for a 2011 release.
For their part, executives at Beenox and Activision seem excited about the arrangement.
“Beenox’s creative vision reinvigorated the Spider-Man gaming experience among critics and fans in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions,” said Patrick Kelly, Senior Vice President, Activision Studios. “We can’t wait to see where this talented studio will take this franchise in the future.”
“We are thrilled with this opportunity to continue our close, collaborative relationship with Activision, Marvel and everyone’s friendly, neighborhood hero, Spider-Man,” said Dee Brown, Studio Head, Beenox. “Being able to map out Spider-Man’s interactive future gives us the creative freedom to really craft the best gaming experience for the fans.”
Rumor: Square-Enix registers domain name for Final Fantasy XIII-2
Even though we know little about the other games in the so-called Fabula Nova Crystallis project, it seems Square-Enix is moving forward with yet another game in the series – a sequel to the polarizing Final Fantasy XIII. According to this tweet, Square’s usual domain registrar acquired “FinalFantasy13-2Game.com” in recent days, signaling that a sequel is potentially in the works.
Of course, this could be domain squatting to keep others from purchasing the domain – you know, just in case! – but given what’s been said about cut content, and a likely need to add some more Yen to the Square-Enix coffers (FFXIII was in development for ages as you might be aware), it’s not out of the question that a direct sequel is on its way.

Nintendo announces “no plans” to localize The Last Story for the West; Nicole cries
Yesterday, VG247 said Nintendo told them they have no intentions of releasing The Last Story in the west. A representative told them they have “no plans at present” when asked about localizing the Mistwalker game. This comes as a blow to us RPG fans, especially those of us who had just cleaned up the drool off our keyboards after watching the latest trailer. The trailer – which was five minutes long and utterly stunning – left us all hoping an announcement would be made, especially since rumors have been flying left and right as to whether or not this Sakaguchi-helmed game would make it into our hands. It looks like, for the time being, we’re out of luck.
Hit the break to check out the trailer, along with a 15-second long television advertisement. (more…)

Konami’s Hard Corps: Uprising, a high definition sequel to 1994’s Contra: Hard Corps, will lead off this year’s Xbox Live House Party. The game will be added to the XBLA on February 16 and will carry a pricetag of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). A PlayStation Network version is also planned, though Konami hasn’t given it a release date yet.
To celebrate the release date announcement, Konami has released a bunch of new screenshots (including that awesome one featuring The Base above). You can see them all after the jump. (more…)
