New Releases: Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, NBA 2K14, Etrian Odyssey Untold, More
The Wii U keeps on sailing towards better day with the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD this week. In contrast with Wind Waker’s polarizing 2003 debut, everyone seems very excited to get their hands on the remake. Also available this week is 2K’s latest sports title, NBA 2K14. The game will be released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
A pair of RPGs will make their way to the 3DS this week including Atlus’ Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl and Marvelous/XSEED’s Rune Factory 4.
Finally, a pair of Ubisoft compilations may entice the budget Xbox 360 gamer. Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Trilogy (which includes Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations) and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Trilogy (which includes Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier) will both be available for Microsoft’s system.

Valve announces unorthodox Steam Controller
Valve’s final announcement of the week (following on the heels of SteamOS and the Steam Machines living room PC) is a brand new controller they’ve dubbed the “Steam Controller.”
The Steam Controller will work with any version of Steam (including Windows and Mac) and won’t be limited to Steam Machines-branded PCs or other SteamOS devices. The controller will launch in 2014, and just like their Steam Machines prototype, Valve plans to offer 300 fans the chance to beta test the new controller. But why does it look so weird?
Instead of two analog sticks, the Steam Controller features two massive trackpads that feel more like a desktop mouse than an analog stick. Each trackpad is also clickable. The four face buttons have been shifted to the center of the controller where they encircle a large touchpad, which is also clickable. Four shoulder buttons also sit atop the controller in their standard spot. And finally, two buttons are nestled in the back of the controller next to the grips.
It’s likely that console gamers will be confused by the Steam Controller, but Valve believes it’ll bring PC games to the living room for the first time: “Whole genres of games that were previously only playable with a keyboard and mouse are now accessible from the sofa. RTS games. Casual, cursor-driven games. Strategy games. 4X space exploration games. A huge variety of indie games. Simulation titles. And of course, Euro Truck Simulator 2.”
Who knows if Valve can take over the living room, but they’ve definitely presented some interesting ideas this week.
Daily Scoop: September 27, 2013 – Death Road to Canada
Hey everyone! It’s a gorgeous Friday, and a reminder that the weekend starts in just a few short hours. Speaking of reminders, you only have two more hours to back Death Road to Canada on Kickstarter! And if you’re one of those people who hates kicking video games because of the long wait, I have good news for you: it’s coming out in November! That’s so close!

EA Sports cancels “College Football 15” amid NCAA lawsuits
Even without NCAA branding, EA Sports planned to go ahead and produce “College Football 15” next year. It looks like someone called an audible as EA announced the cancellation of the game, and stated that the future of the franchise is being evaluated, on their official blog today.
Cam Weber, EA’s General Manager of American Football, said that the decision to cancel the game was partially the result of “a number of conferences” pulling their support from the game. EA might have been able to continue with the words “NCAA” in the title, but multiple missing colleges would have hurt the simulation aspects of the game.
In other NCAA news, The Lanier Law Firm has announced that they’ve reached an agreement with EA Sports over the use of likenesses of student athletes in previous NCAA Football and NCAA March Madness/NCAA Basketball games. Attorney Eugene R. Egdorf said, “Today’s settlement is a game-changer because, for the first time, student-athletes suiting up to play this weekend are going to be paid for the use of their likenesses.”
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Watch all ten episodes of Mortal Kombat: Legacy II right now
When Mortal Kombat: Legacy was lighting up web browsers everywhere in the run-up to Mortal Kombat‘s launch, new episodes were doled out on a weekly schedule. And the final episode was subjected to a multi-month delay and we didn’t get to see it until the Summer.
That is definitely not the case when it comes to Mortal Kombat: Legacy II.
Today, director Kevin Tancharoen and Warner Digital uploaded every episode of the adaptation’s second season. So you can watch the first episode (which we’ve embedded above) and let it sink in or you can watch the whole thing in one sitting at Machinima’s YouTube Channel.

CoD: Black Ops II Apocalypse DLC now available on PC, PS3
The final Call of Duty: Black Ops II expansion pack, Apocalypse, is now available to download on the PC and PS3. Season Pass owners will be able to download the Apocalypse DLC Pack for free, while the rest of us will have to pay $14.99. The DLC pack includes four new maps and a new Zombies scenario, “Origins.”
The next Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts, will be available in November for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One.

Daily Scoop: September 26, 2013 – Gotta Hatch ‘Em All
I didn’t think I could be more excited about Pokemon X and Y, but that changed this morning when I visited Serebii.net. They made two announcements yesterday – one was a new Pokemon, a cool-looking Steel/Ghost type named Doublade. But the amazing news is this gorgeous gold 3DS XL which comes pre-loaded with X or Y, unlike the other 3DS XL that came out last week (which we will never speak of again because who releases a special 3DS without the darn game?).
The sad news is that this 3DS XL will only be available at Pokemon Centers in Japan and on Amazon, which I’m assuming means Amazon.jp, which makes me a sad panda. Oh well – I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
There’s a new Humble Bundle available right now – it’s the Humble Mobile Bundle 2, which includes Star Command, Time Surfer, and Punch Quest. Scoop it up!

Nintendo Download: Donkey Kong 3, Etrian Odyssey Untold (Tuesday), more
3DS owners will get the chance to download Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl this Tuesday, October 1, as part of this week’s Nintendo Download. The Atlus RPG will be joined on the 3DS eShop early next week by Rune Factory 4, the latest game in the farm simulator series.
