Daily Scoop: January 19, 2011 – Is there a doctor in the house?

Are people in a daze after the Amazon All Video Games Gold Box Event yesterday? These things happen when it’s a flurry of sales. Today is a little more laid back so far. The Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games another 2010 Square Enix Final Fantasy game that people have loved to hate – Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. All in all, I’m glad I played the game, but my complaints were mostly directly as the huge disparity in difficulty in certain areas as well as the fact that the story was kind of bland. But the characters and crowns were cute, and if any of my friends want to buy it on the cheap right now, I’d be happy to get into some co-op! It’s at $17.99 from $34.99, making it nearly 50% off.

Amazon’s also still running their Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale, featuring games for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, NDS, and Xbox 360. There are actually some good ones there…if I hadn’t gotten so many games on the cheap in the last few months, I’d definitely be picking up a few, like Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Persona for the PSP. Ah, well.

One final scoop on top – TeeFury has a pretty awesome shirt for sale. If you loved Dr. Mario, or House M.D., then you’ll love this mash-up of Mario and House, everyone’s favorite curmudgeonly doctor.

I thought of Dr. House from House of course. and I thought hmmmm what if Dr. Mario was addicted to vicodin just like House? and Wa-Lah!  We got the curmudgeon known as Mario M.D!

Daily Scoop: January 17, 2011 – Amazon Deals Edition

It’s all about Amazon Deals in today’s Daily Scoop. First up, they’ve got up to 40% off Disney games. The pickings are pretty slim, unless you’re like me and you love Disney: Sing It games. They are super fun!

Next up is the Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is the DJ Hero 2 Party Bundle. Originally priced at $129.99, you can get it today for 23% off at $99.99.

But the REAL deals will be starting at midnight (Pacific Time) tonight, when Amazon goes live with another All Video Games Gold Box Event. All day tomorrow – that’s Tuesday, January 18th – the Gold Box deals will be nothing but video games. The link goes to a bunch of electronics deals right now, but we’ll bring you more information on all of tomorrow’s game deals as soon as we have it.

To round this out with something cute, check out today’s shirt.w00t – I know our editor, John Scalzo, will get a kick out of it.

“Freeze, rebel scum! Drop those plans immediately or OOPS! Hold your wamp rats, TK-80085. Don’t want to cross against the light now, do we?”

Daily Scoop: January 16, 2011 – Creative ways to kill zombies, now cheaper!

It’s another late morning and another apology from me. MAGFest is intense!

Not much going on scoop-wise, other than today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games, which is Dead Rising 2 for the PlayStation 3. It’s on sale for $39.99 from $59.99, and it’s totally worth it. And don’t forget about the awesome, week-long buy 2, get 1 free sale going on at Best Buy that John Scalzo already reported on.

Amazon’s also got some more video game sales up its sleeve for this week – stay tuned to Warp Zoned for more information.

Daily Scoop: January 15, 2011 – The Key…Blade?

I’m bringing you today’s Daily Scoop live from my hotel room at MAGFest! I should be watching a screening of the live action Mega Man film, but I slept in instead. D’oh!

Anyway, today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is a download of Reign: Conflict of Nations for the PC. The price is…ahh…currently unavailable for some reason, but if it’s something you’re interested in, keep tapping F5.

In the meantime, Kingdom Hearts fans can check out today’s shirt.w00t.com t-shirt, which I’m assuming is a pretty cool looking Keyblade. If I’d ever played the games, I’d probably be drooling over the shirt – and even without playing them, I think it looks pretty cool.

Wear this shirt: while waiting for your significant other at the end of a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt.

Mike Gutierrez and I are off to try to find some treasure chests. If you’re at MAGFest, say hello!

Daily Scoop: January 14, 2011 – Packing for MAGFest edition

Not much today in the way of scoops! It’s maybe a scoop and a half today. The Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Namco’s Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo for the Wii. It’s $9.99 on sale from $19.99.

Today’s Tee Fury shirt is slightly related, but only in context – it’s about pirates. With the sudden hostile takeover on the PlayStation 3, it seemed like an appropriate way to end this week.

Have a great weekend, everyone! Mike Gutierrez and I will be down south at MAGFest until Monday. We’ll be posting some articles, but mainly we’ll be doing what we usually do on the weekends – sleeping, eating, and gaming.

Daily Scoop: January 13, 2011 – Let’s Hear it for the Girls

Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is the Nancy Drew Collector’s Edition Fan Favorites by Her Interactive for the PC. It’s on sale for $25 from $49.99, making it a whopping 50% off. Buy it for the quirky, computer-loving teenager who can’t get enough of her detective novels.

Not too much else to report today, unless you’re trying to find a deal on a console, and even those pickings are pretty slim. You can get a $25 video game credit at Amazon if you order the Xbox 360 250 GB console with Kinect, and a $50 video game credit if you order the PlayStation 3 160 GB console. Sometimes I wish Thanksgiving weekend came more than once a year. (My wallet disagrees.)

Daily Scoop: January 12, 2011 – Another Portal Shirt!

I’m sad to report that the snow did not end the world, or even close anything in my sunny city of Philadelphia. Also disappointing is today’s Amazon Video Game Deal of the Day – a pink Wii Starter Kit for Wii Fit. An off-brand pink accessory for the Wii? That’s almost as bad as this half-assed snowstorm we got. Amazon, give us something we want! Something we crave!

At least this part isn’t disappointing: today’s Tee Fury shirt is a mash-up of Portal and Donnie Darko, two of my favorite things! Of course, now I’ll have no-no-notorious stuck in my head all day, but it’s totally worth it, because this t-shirt is awesome. The creator was inspired by the line in the movie, “Have you ever seen a portal?” It’s one of those moments when you want to hit yourself in the head for not thinking of something so simple and obvious.

The companion cube is Sparkle Motion!
