Daily Scoop: January 31, 2011 – Just another Monday edition
Ah, Monday. Your annoyingness knows no bounds. I’m still exhausted from Global Game Jam, but it was absolutely worth it. We’ll be posting some awesome interviews with local Philadelphia-area game developers, so be on the lookout!
There aren’t too many deals today, I’m afraid. There’s no video game deal of the day over at Amazon. But Buy.com is selling Xbox Live 12 month Gold subscription cards for $39.99, which is a pretty darn good deal. Anyone looking to re-up before tomorrow’s drop of the first CoDBlOps DLC is in luck.
Also, and this is not game-related, but this Rain-Bo shirt at shirt.w00t made me laugh, so I thought I’d share it.

Take that, Monday!

Daily Scoop: January 28, 2011 – TGIF edition
I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to see a Friday. This weather is really dragging me down – not to mention the fact that it takes easily twice as long to get anywhere or do anything once you leave the house. But the good news is, Global Game Jam begins tonight! Woo!
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is the PS3 Move Battle Rifle by Icon. While I don’t really understand plastic add-ons for motion controllers, this has to be on someone’s wish list. Get it today for just $20.99 down from $29.99, and help satiate that special someone’s desire to squelch their imagination as much as possible.
On an excellent note, today’s Tee Fury t-shirt is affectionately entitled “Gotta Trap ‘Em All” and is a delightful mash-up of Ghostbusters and Pokemon.
When you’re serious about catching them all, you have to come prepared for anything!

Daily Scoop: January 27, 2011 – Snow, snow, snow
The snow fell all night, and now we’ve got about a foot of it outside. I already said I surrendered, winter! What gives?!?!
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in video games is Disney’s Phineas and Ferb for the DS. Inspired by the cartoon, it actually looks kind of cute. It’s $12.99 today down from $19.99, so buy it for the child who already beat all of his Christmas gifts.
Not much else going on other than a boatload of Dead Space-related stuff, as well as a little announcement last night about Sony’s new handheld. I’m loving the game lineup so far. Handhelds for grown-ups are my kind of thing.

Daily Scoop: January 26, 2011 – I surrender to winter edition
Good morning, scoopers! Today I have waved the white flag of surrender to winter. We are currently buried under several inches of snow with no hope of getting out of here alive. Exciting!
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games is a repeat of another one we had recently. EA Sports Active 2 is $48.99 for the PlayStation 3 and the Wii, and $49.99 for the Xbox 360. That extra dollar is probably to donate to a fund for all the people who have been hurt in Kinect-related accidents. Also on sale today for the Wii is EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp for the Wii for $48.99. These all retail for $99.99, so if you’ve had your eye on them and missed them recently, now’s your chance to pick them up.
I don’t have any other video game-related deals, so I’ll just post today’s w00t shirt which is seriously adorable.
lulz.

Daily Scoop: January 25, 2011 – Stand-Alone Software edition
Today’s Daily Scoop is a bit on the skimpy side, I’m afraid. All I’ve got for you is today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games, which is a bunch of stand-alone software. You can get Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock for $29.99 for the Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 3. For $24.99, you can pick up the Tony Hawk: Shred, also for each of the three consoles.
Yawn.
At least Dead Space 2 is out today! I’m patiently waiting for my Plasma Cutter to arrive. And did anyone else pre-order the Dead Space Rig Backpack? I’m less patient about that getting here.

O_o.

Daily Scoop: January 24, 2011 – Pretty much the best Monday morning ever
It’s that time again! Time to bring another dose of the Daily Scoop. It’s been an awesome Monday morning so far, and I contribute it partly to one of the funniest headlines I’ve ever seen: PSP 2 Makes Pocket Bulges Almost R-rated. It’s an old article, but with all the talk about the leaked PSP 2 details, it’s still relevant.
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games is THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 for the Wii. It’s $34.99 down from $49.99, and includes a “Road to WrestleMania” mode. If you’re excited by that, my guess is you probably already own this game.
While today’s Tee Fury shirt is not related to video games, I’m posting it anyway because it made me laugh out loud. Check out this fantastic piece of awesome:
My inner 13-year-old is freaking OUT.

Daily Scoop: January 21, 2011 – OMG DUKE NUKEM FOREVER!!1
Duke Nukem Forever has a release date! Did you hear? No? Look, I’m only here to write about the daily scoop and chew bubble gum. And I’m all outta gum…
Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games is Jewel Master: Cradle of Athena by Storm City Entertainment. This DS game is on sale for $8.99 from $19.99. There’s also an Amazon Accessories Sale, and the Buy 2, Get 3rd Free Sale is still going on as well. They’ve got some good games up there, including LittleBigPlanet 2.
No video game related t-shirts, but this shirt made me laugh so I wanted to share it. Happy Friday, everyone :)
Ronald McDonald shot first!

Daily Scoop: January 20, 2011 – The 3DS vacuum
There isn’t much to report today – after the Square Enix event Tuesday and the 3DS event yesterday, it seems like everyone is in a stupor. Who else has already pre-ordered their 3DS? What color did you opt for – regular black or tantalizing teal?
Anyway, all we have today is the Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games, which is THQ’s Megamind: Mega Team Unite. Based on the movie Megamind, this Wii game is on sale for $19.99 today from $29.99.
Also of note is an amazing webcomic called MS Paint Adventures. I’ve recently re-visited the latest work by Andrew Hussie, an ongoing comic called Homestuck. It’s a webcomic…with music…and it also has games in it. If you have a lot of time on your hands, start with Problem Sleuth, which is already finished.
