Ubisoft bringing Splinter Cell, Rayman, Driver, more to 3DS launch
Ubisoft plans to bring eight games to the 3DS’ launch window, more than any other third party publisher and more than even Nintendo themselves.
As you might expect from the company, the eight titles are heavily skewed towards Ubisoft’s existing franchises. Exact release dates for each game weren’t announced, but gamers can expect a 3D take on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, the first-ever turned-based Ghost Recon game, a new entry in the Driver series, a remake of Rayman 2 and a new Rabbids platformer.
Ubisoft’s 3DS launch lineup is rounded out by Asphalt 3D, a racing game; Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D, a one-on-one fighter starring dinosaurs; and James Noir’s Hollywood Crimes, a puzzle game with a quirky protagonist (shades of Dr. Layton perhaps?).
More details on all eight titles can be found after the break. (more…)
Google zaps Android’s Kongregate support, blocking free arcade capabilities
In an event that seemed to end as quickly as it began, Kongregate’s free Android app was taken out of the Android’s App Store by Google today. Google claims that Kongregate’s free app illicitly downloads and installs applications without users’ permission.
Kongregate stated the following in response:
“In truth, Kongregate Arcade just plays Flash games via the Android web browser and doesn’t install anything, though it does cache games for faster loading. The TOS limitation they reference for our takedown is so broad it would apply equally to content apps like Kindle, Slacker, and hundreds of others, and yet only our app has been removed.”
This action may be Google’s way of defending other Android app store developers, but Kongregate is still hosting the app directly via their own website. Kongregate is currently making an effort to get their app back into the Android’s store.

Killzone 3 including multiplayer beta vouchers for SOCOM 4
As if getting one highly anticipated PlayStation 3 shooter wasn’t enough, new copies of Killzone 3 from select retailers will also include vouchers for the multiplayer beta of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals. On the pre-order site for Killzone 3, only Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon are listed as supporting retailers, but be sure to check for box art with the SOCOM dog tags, as pictured to the left, to know if your copy has it. The voucher will come on both standard and Helghast editions of the game, and players are encouraged to check the official SOCOM 4 site for details as soon as they pick up their copy.
2011 is looking to be the most cash-strapped year to date for PS3 owners, so it’s simultaneously nice and cruel of Sony to give us ways to check out multiple titles from one box. Killzone 3 drops on February 22, 2011, and you can expect our very own Warp Zoned review to follow shortly, as well as yours truly losing all of his free-time on his second Killzone platinum trophy.

Team Ninja planning Metroid cameos for Dead or Alive Dimensions
Does the suckitude of Metroid: Other M still sting? Well it looks like Team Ninja will be getting another crack at the game’s universe in this year’s Dead or Alive Dimensions on the 3DS.
In addition to the Metroid-themed stage you see in the video above, Samus Aran and Ridley will show up as background characters that can attack the DoA fighters. Does this also mean Samus might show up as a playable character? Nothing’s been confirmed, but we can certainly dream…

Gears of War: Exile trademarked
What is Gears of War: Exile?
Epic Games has filed a trademark application covering “video game software,” “computer game hint books and instruction manuals,” and “t-shirts” for the phrase along with the image to your left. This is obviously not an announcement of anything, but it is rather interesting in light of the canceled Gears of War presentation during the 2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards.
So we come back to the question, what is Gears of War: Exile? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
Daily Scoop: January 19, 2011 – Is there a doctor in the house?
Are people in a daze after the Amazon All Video Games Gold Box Event yesterday? These things happen when it’s a flurry of sales. Today is a little more laid back so far. The Amazon Deal of the Day in Video Games another 2010 Square Enix Final Fantasy game that people have loved to hate – Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. All in all, I’m glad I played the game, but my complaints were mostly directly as the huge disparity in difficulty in certain areas as well as the fact that the story was kind of bland. But the characters and crowns were cute, and if any of my friends want to buy it on the cheap right now, I’d be happy to get into some co-op! It’s at $17.99 from $34.99, making it nearly 50% off.
Amazon’s also still running their Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale, featuring games for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, NDS, and Xbox 360. There are actually some good ones there…if I hadn’t gotten so many games on the cheap in the last few months, I’d definitely be picking up a few, like Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Persona for the PSP. Ah, well.
One final scoop on top – TeeFury has a pretty awesome shirt for sale. If you loved Dr. Mario, or House M.D., then you’ll love this mash-up of Mario and House, everyone’s favorite curmudgeonly doctor.
I thought of Dr. House from House of course. and I thought hmmmm what if Dr. Mario was addicted to vicodin just like House? and Wa-Lah! We got the curmudgeon known as Mario M.D!

Amazing Race game predicted Unfinished Business teams

A video game adaptation of The Amazing Race was released for the Wii back in November and while the game only featured fictional teams, the cover art was apparently an early sneak peak at the cast of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business.
Unfinished Business is the second all-star edition of The Amazing Race, as 11 teams have returned to race around the world again. That includes six of the seven teams pictured on the cover of The Amazing Race for the Wii (from left):
- Jaime & Cara (The Cheerleaders)
- Flight Time & Big Easy (The Globetrotters)
- Mark & Michael (The Stunt Brothers)
- Kisha & Jen (Sisters)
- Jet & Cord (The Cowboys)
- Luke & Margie (Deaf Son & Mother)
- Kynt & Vyxsin (The Goths)
Only Mark & Michael, “The Stunt Brothers” from The Amazing Race 14, were included on the game’s cover but left out of Unfinished Business.
The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business premieres next month, Sunday, February 20, on CBS. More information on this season’s participants can be found at CBS.com.
