“Version 1.0” of 20XX will be available through Steam on August 16
The world was introduced to 20XX (then known as Echoes of Eridu) in April 2014 thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign by Batterystaple Games. The developer has given fans a huge window into their development process since then, thanks to the Early Access launch of 20XX on November 25, 2014.
Now, after more than three years of active development, the team has announced plans to release “Version 1.0” through Steam on August 16. Battlestaple’s Chris King discussed what this achievement will mean for fans on 20XX’s Steam Community page:
The 1.0 patch will include 20XX’s Endgame, the final set of challenges that cap off every run. The other side of that Level 8 teleporter will soon be live to the world, and the answers our heroes have been fighting for are finally right around the corner.
If you’ve been part of our Early Access community — you’re the best. Thanks for helping shape the game these past few years! 20XX is a much better game for having had you, especially if you’ve done us the kindness of giving us feedback, reporting bugs, and telling your friends.
To go along with the announcement, Batterystaple also unveiled a new trailer for 20XX. It’s been embedded above.
Moonrider is JoyMasher’s homage to Shinobi, Strider, and Hagane
JoyMasher is currently working on Blazing Chrome, a side-scrolling shooter that’s inspired by Contra and Metal Slug. But the Brazilian developer has also revealed they’re working on Moonrider, an homage to “futuristic ninja” platformers like Shinobi, Strider, and Hagane: The Final Conflict.
Moonrider is still very early in development (and presumably for the PC), but you can get a glimpse at a teaser trailer for the game embedded above.
Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition will make its Switch debut on September 12
Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, and confirmed that the much-loved platformer will be available for the Nintendo Switch on September 12. More information on the re-release is available at the UbiBlog:
Ubisoft’s exuberant platforming hero is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 12 in Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition. This colorful adventure sees Rayman and friends romping though gorgeous worlds within a series of enchanting paintings. The Definitive Edition takes advantage of the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch, enabling up to four players to play together over a wireless local multiplayer connection. Furthermore, players can use the undocked Switch touchscreen to move platforms, cut ropes, take out enemies, and more.
There are also other new features in store, including an updated version of the raucous soccer-inspired minigame, Kung Foot.
Ubisoft has several other games in development for the Switch in addition to Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition. The megapublisher will release Steep and Monopoly for Nintendo’s newest console later this year, and at least one unannounced title is also in the works.

Square Enix will release Lost Sphear on January 23

Square Enix has announced that Lost Sphear, the next retro-styled RPG from Tokyo RPG Factory, will be released on January 23.
Lost Sphear expands upon many of the beloved features from the studio’s debut title, I Am Setsuna, and continues Tokyo RPG Factory’s dedication to blending the nostalgia of classic Japanese role-playing games with the latest technology for a new generation of gamers. The game will feature an enhanced gameplay system with a revamped ATB (Active Time Battle) system offering more freedom in combat, seamless environments, and various locations to explore.
In Lost Sphear, players will begin their adventure in a remote town where a young boy, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. To stop the world from being lost forever, Kanata and his comrades set out to rebuild the world around them with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter and restoring what was lost.
Lost Sphear will launch for the PC, PS4, and Switch on January 23, and Square Enix also confirmed the game will be available in a special physical package for the PS4 and Switch exclusively from the Square Enix Online Store. Shelob isn’t just a giant spider in the latest Middle-Earth: Shadow of War trailer
Shelob is quite possibly the most famous spider in all of fiction, but the character will become so much more in this Fall’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.
“The Spider” revealed her human form to Talion and Celebrimbor in a new trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War that was released during this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. Players will actually approach Shelob as something of an ally, and she’ll provide visions that help push the game’s plot forward. While that sounds like a good deal for Talion, I’m not sure I’d be able to trust a giant spider.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 10.

First Ready Player One trailer makes its debut during Comic-Con 2017
One of the biggest surprises during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was our first look at Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Based on the novel by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One is a mashup of massively nerdy pop culture from the 70s, 80s, and 90s told within the digital landscape of a futuristic virtual reality platform known as OASIS.
With the film adaptation clearly playing to his strengths, Spielberg was able to create a world with some truly unique visuals, which you can see in the trailer embedded above. Keep your eyes peeled for a ton of Easter Eggs including Harley Quinn, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, The Iron Giant, Freddy Krueger, and a lot more.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke and it’ll open in theaters on March 30, 2018.
New Retail Releases: Hey! Pikmin, Miitopia, Collar X Malice, More

It’s another big week for Nintendo as the consolemaker will release two games for the 3DS on Friday.
First up is the first portable game in the Pikmin series, Hey! Pikmin. The side-scrolling adventures adds touchscreen support for Captain Olimar, who can now fling Pikmin at enemies and obstacles with the swipe of a finger. Also available from Nintendo for the 3DS this Friday is Miitopia, a turn-based RPG featuring Miis “based on your favorite people.”
Elsewhere in the portable section of your favorite game store will be Collar X Malice, a new visual novel from Aksys that’ll be available for the Vita this week.
Finally this week, Marvelous’s action brawler Fate Extella: The Umbral Star will make its way to the Nintendo Switch after debuting on the PC and Vita last year.
That’s all for now, but we’ll be back soon with updates on the rest of this week’s downloadable additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.
