Homefront: The Revolution, Shadow of the Beast, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, more added to PlayStation Store
Unconventional warfare is the linchpin that holds many of the biggest titles in this week’s PlayStation Store update together.
First up is Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, a PS4 re-release of the highly-acclaimed strategy RPG. Originally released for the PS3 in 2008, Valkyria Chronicles captured the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere with its blend of magical abilities and tactical modern warfare.
Speaking of modern warfare, Deep Silver’s Homefront: The Revolution is also now available to download for the PS4. In this sequel, history repeats as the North Korean invasion of the US continues, and players are forced to fight for their independence on the streets of Philadelphia. History also repeats in Shadow of the Beast, a PS4 remake of the popular side-scroller originally released for the Amiga.
Finally this week, NIS America’s Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice makes its PlayStation Store debut more than eight after the game was originally released for the PS3. If you’ve been waiting all this time to pick it up, now you don’t even have to leave your couch.
More information on all of these titles (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And don’t forget, the PlayStation Blog recently published a complete rundown of this week’s new add-ons and discounts. (more…)

Batman: Return to Arkham will bring the first two games to PS4, Xbox One this July
It’s almost fitting that WB Games’s big Batman: Return to Arkham announcement was spoiled by a series of leaks… the Batcave is often less secure than a child’s piggy bank.
The Dark Knight will indeed return this July in a two-game compilation that’ll bring Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City to the PS4 and Xbox One for the first time. The package is priced at $49.99, and it’ll include all previously-released downloadable content for both games. Virtuos will handle the PS4 and Xbox One upgrade, which will include enhanced and updated character models, environments, lighting, effects, and shaders.
Batman: Return to Arkham will be available in stores on July 26.

Is id Software teasing Quake 5? Developer is telling prospective employees they’ll get to work on “franchises like Doom and Quake”
After nearly a decade in development, Doom is now available on store shelves and nostalgic FPS fans are loving its mixture of modern design and retro sensibilities. So the developers at id Software are probably feeling pretty good about themselves. But that hasn’t stopped the company from going on a hiring spree.
More than a dozen job openings at id Software were recently added to Bethesda’s Careers page, and once again, they’re offering prospective employees the chance to work on “legendary game properties like DOOM and QUAKE.” Obviously, this isn’t a guarantee that Quake 5 is in the works at id, but the last time the developer went on a similar headhunting operation was in 2013, about a year before they debuted Doom to a packed house at QuakeCon 2014.
Of course, this is probably just the regular employment churn that occurs at all companies, combined with an HR department too lazy to write up a new job description. But after the amazing return of Doom (and Wolfenstein before it), I am ready for more Quake too.

Daily Scoop: May 17, 2016 – Humble Deep Silver Bundle 2 now live
I did it! I beat Risk of Rain last night, and it was glorious. I was playing the Engineer, who I think might be my favorite character. I unlocked a few more characters and tried those out as well, but I think I might be team Engineer for now.
There’s a brand new bundle at Humble right now – the Humble Deep Silver Bundle 2. Pay $1 or more for Sacred 3 Gold, Risen, Risen 2: Dark Waters Gold Edition, Saints Row 2, and Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition. Beat the average to unlock Dead Island: Riptide – Complete Edition, Killer Is Dead – Nightmare Edition, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package, and 75% off the Dead Island Definitive Collection. Pay $13 or more to unlock Saints Row IV and Risen 3 Titan Lords.
The Midweek Madness at Steam is Kingdom Wars 2: Battles, which is on sale for $20.99. The Daily Deal is Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered, which is on sale for just $4.99.

Coldwood teams up with EA once again for Unravel 2

Coldwood Interactive, the Swedish development team responsible for bringing Unravel to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One earlier this year, will team up with EA once again to produce a second game in the series.
We don’t know much of anything about the currently untitled Unravel 2, but Patrick Soderlund, the Executive Vice President of EA Studios, had some very nice things to say about the people at Coldwood: “The awesomely creative development team at Coldwood Interactive brought tiny, endearing Yarny to life. And since then, it’s been quite incredible to see the community’s love for Yarny, both in the game and beyond.”
Soderlund added, “We could not be more excited to continue working with Martin Sahlin and the great team at Coldwood, and to see the next adventure they bring to life.”
Hopefully, we’ll learn more about Unravel 2 soon.
SteamWorld Heist is coming to the PS4 and Vita on May 31
After debuting on the 3DS late last year, SteamWorld Heist is kicking off the next leg of its intergalactic world tour with an appearance on the PS4 and Vita on May 31. The Outsider, SteamWorld Heist’s first downloadable expansion, will also be available on May 31.
Developed by Image & Form, SteamWorld Heist is a side-scrolling strategy game with a retro-inspired art style. Oh, and the entire universe is also populated by sentient robots!
According to the developer, PS4 and Vita owners will be able to obtain both versions of SteamWorld Heist for $19.99 through Sony’s Cross-Buy program. And if you act fast, you’ll also be able to secure a 15% discount off the regular price during the launch week.
If you’re not a PS4/Vita owner, don’t worry, SteamWorld Heist will also be released for the PC, Wii U, Xbox One, and mobile devices sometime this year.

NIS America will bring Phantom Brave to Steam on July 25
Way back in 2004, Phantom Brave was one of the first games released in the States by NIS America. Along with Disgaea, it helped establish the NIS America label and allowed the publisher to spread their unique brand of strategy RPGs throughout the world.
Phantom Brave takes place on Ivoire, the small island that a lonely girl named Marona calls home. An orphan since she was very young, Marona uses her special “Chroma” ability to speak to phantoms and complete tasks for the other islanders. This gift has come in handy over the years, but the optimistic Marona, and her ghostly companion Ash, are about to embark on their biggest adventure yet.
The Steam version of Phantom Brave will be based on the 2009 Wii re-release, but it’ll also include the bonus content created for the 2011 PSP re-release. And don’t worry, support for Steam Trading Cards, Achievements, and Cloud Saves will be also be part of Phantom Brave’s PC debut.
Hanzo and Genji are the “Dragons” at the center of Blizzard’s latest Overwatch short
With Overwatch just a week away, Blizzard has released a new animated short to give players further insight into the lives of Hanzo and Genji. I don’t want to spoil anything, so let me just suggest that if you liked the Winston and Tracer shorts, you should drop everything and watch this one too.
Overwatch, Blizzard’s upcoming MOBA-like arena shooter, will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 24.
