E3 2014 Trailer: Battle Cthulhu in Evolve
The four-eyed space squid at the center of Evolve‘s E3 2014 trailer might not be known as Cthulhu in the game, but it was clearly inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s most famous creation.
Evolve will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 21. Before that, Xbox One owners will be able to join an open beta in the Fall to test the game’s online multiplayer and all downloadable content will be made available on the Xbox One first.
UPDATE: 2K has confirmed that the Cthulhu-like Monster will be known as a Kraken.
DICE plays with Star Wars toys to help bring us an early look at Star Wars: Battlefront
“Do or do not. There is no try.”
Niklas Fegraeus is a Design Director at DICE and he has taken Yoda’s understanding of The Force to heart in developing Star Wars: Battlefront. He has encouraged his team to live and breath Star Wars in a way that most of us haven’t done since we were 12. In the course of developing the next Star Wars game, DICE visited the Lucasfilms archives to get an up-close look at the original models used to film the Star Wars trilogy and recreated the ice planet Hoth in their Swedish backyards.
All of this hard work has produced some very cool looking early footage of the game, which DICE has shared with us in this behind-the-scenes video. Star Wars: Battlefront is still a year away (a Spring 2015 launch is planned), but your E3 Expo won’t be complete until you watch this video.
Explore an open world in The Legend of Zelda for Wii U in 2015
Taking inspiration from the very first Legend of Zelda, Franchise Producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda Wii U will take place in an open world similar to its 8-bit predecessor. The idea is that players will be able to go anywhere and do anything as they attempt to solve the puzzles the game will throw at them.
This open world also opens up a whole new way to battle enemies, as the teaser trailer above shows. A tentacled creature that looks like a cross between an Octorok and a Tektite chases Link across a field before he dispatches it with arrows on the shores of a pond.
The Legend of Zelda Wii U will be available sometime in 2015, which can’t come soon enough.

Daily Scoop: June 10, 2014 – E3 in full swing
Yesterday’s and this morning’s press conferences were a blast! We went out to see the PlayStation E3 Experience at a movie theater last night, and it was so much fun. I couldn’t get over LittleBigPlanet 3! There’s so much amazing stuff happening. I feel like I say this every year, but: it’s a great time to be a gamer!
Speaking of being gamers, let’s talk about some game deals! There are a few good sales happening over at the Humble Store right now – you can get into the Prison Architect Alpha for $9.89, get early access to Broforce for $11.99, or grab Cloudbuilt for $9.99.
The Midweek Madness over at Steam is Rogue Legacy, which is on sale for $5.09. Everyone I know has it, but hey – why not buy a copy for a loved one? The Daily Deal is $3.39 for Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Edition. Scoop ’em up!
And now, let’s take a look at t-shirt offerings… (more…)

Super Smash Bros. 4 will be available for 3DS on October 3; Lady Palutena joins the fight
Super Smash Bros. 4 still doesn’t have an official title, but we do know when the 3DS version of the game will be released: October 3. The Wii U version of the game will be released by the end of the year.
In other Smash news, Nintendo has revealed that Lady Palutena, the Goddess of Light from Kid Icarus, will join the game as a playable character on both the 3DS and Wii U.
And in one final bit of news, Nintendo has confirmed that the GameCube Controller Adapter (which will be available on teh same day as the game) will be priced at $19.99. If you’ve lost track of your GameCube controllers over the years, the company will also release a special GameCube controller with Super Smash Bros. markings. The retro controller (which is currently only confirmed to work with Super Smash Bros. 4) will retail for $29.99. Finally, Nintendo also plans to release a special bundle that contains a copy of the game, a GameCube Controller Adapter, and a Smash Bros. GameCube controller, all for $99.99.
That’s a smashing savings of $10.

Itagaki’s Devil’s Third is now a Wii U exclusive
Um, what?
Tomonobu Itagaki, the Director of Ninja Gaiden and the former guiding force behind Team Ninja, has revealed that his next game, Devil’s Third, will be available exclusively for the Wii U. Speaking to IGN, Itagaki said: “[Nintendo] really understood my vision, so I felt I really had to work with them.”
Devil’s Third has been in development at Itagaki’s Valhalla Studios since 2009. THQ was originally attached as publisher, but after their bankruptcy the action title was left in limbo. Nintendo swooping in to save it is surprising, to say the least, but they did they same thing with Bayonetta 2, which is a similarly styled sword-and-shooting game.
Devil’s Third will be released sometime this year.

Hyrule Warriors will hack and slash its way into stores on September 26
Hyrule Warriors, Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda/Dynasty Warriors crossover will be available in stores on September 26. In addition to a final release date, Nintendo released a new trailer for Hyrule Warriors today, which showcases the game’s four playable characters: Link, Zelda, Midna, and Impa.
The E3 trailer even teases an appearance from Ganondorf, so get ready for at one suitably epic boss battle.

Bethesda teases Doom 4 at E3 ahead of QuakeCon 2014 full reveal
Doom! Doooooom! Doooooooooooooooooom!
Bethesda Softworks has unveiled a teaser trailer for Doom 4 (which, like all reboots, will just be known by the singular Doom) at their E3 Press Conference. The minute-long teaser gives us our first look at the squishy skin and high-tech armaments of a Cyberdemon, but is otherwise short on gameplay.
That’s because this E3 announcement is actually just an appetizer ahead of Bethesda’s full reveal of the game, which will take place at QuakeCon 2014. This year’s QuakeCon will run from July 17 through July 20.
Doom 4 (sorry, not calling it Doom just yet) is the first Doom game in development at id Software without co-founder John Carmack, who left last year to join OculusVR. It’s in development for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One and is currently without a release date.
