PS Store Today: NBA Live 14, Soul Calibur II HD, Need For Speed: Rivals, More

The first PlayStation Store update in the post-PS4 era brings with it the digital release of NBA Live 14. EA’s first next gen basketball sim boasts a new “revolutionary physics-based dribbling system” known as BounceTek as “fresh content and challenges” delivered daily.
Over on the PS3 side of the store, gamers will be able to download another major EA release, Need For Speed: Rivals. The racer will be joined by Farming Simulator, a… er… farming simulator, and Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW, the latest adventure starring Finn and Jake.
The newly rechristened PS3 Digital Games storefront will feature the return of Namco Bandai’s Soul Calibur universe with Soul Calibur II HD Online. This re-release includes every Soul Calibur II character as well Heichachi (of Tekken fame) and Spawn (of Spawn fame).
More information about all of these games (and many more) can be found after the break. And as always, a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
Hear the soothing music of Dead Rising 3’s launch trailer
Microsoft is all set to roll the Xbox One into stores on November 22. To get everyone excited, Capcom has unleashed this launch trailer for Dead Rising 3… which actually looks very similar to every other Dead Rising 3 trailer the publisher has released, albeit with some very soothing music and a bunch of quotes from media outlets who love the game.
I suppose it could have been worse. If this trailer had been made in the early 2000s, it would have included “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” on the soundtrack.

Daily Scoop: November 19, 2013 – TowerFall at the Humble Store
Hello, friends, and happy Tuesday! It’s gone back to freezing after being beautiful for a few days, but you know what they say… “Winter is coming” and all that. Just get your coat out, find your gloves, dig up your hat, and enjoy it before the snow hits. Or the summer comes back, with its… sweat.
Anyway! Enough small talk. I’m here to tell you about deals, and the best deal happening right now is the refresh over at the Humble Store. You can get Super Meat Boy for $2.49, Hotline Miami for $2.49, and… this is the best part… TowerFall for $9.99. While that last one is only for Ouya, and I know not many of you have an Ouya, in case you do, you want to grab this game right this second. Or if you want, you can wait until it arrives on the PlayStation 4. It’s one of the best games ever.

Spike TV announces the nominees for 2013 VGX Awards

The nominees for the 2013 VGX Awards (previously known as the Video Game Awards) have been announced by Spike TV and it looks like this year’s show will be dominated by Grand Theft Auto V, BioShock Infinite, The Last of Us, and Tomb Raider. Those four games, along with Super Mario 3D World, will duke it out for this year’s “Game of the Year” honor.
Grand Theft Auto V lead all games with four additional nominations (“Best PlayStation,” “Best Xbox,” “Action Adventure,” and “Soundtrack”) as well as a “Best Studio” nomination for Rockstar North, “Best Actor” nomination for Steven Ogg, and two “Best Song” nods. The Fulbright Company’s Gone Home leads this year’s indie charge with two nominations (“Best PC” and “Best Independent”) and a “Best Studio” nomination for the developer.
And in a fun twist, Troy Baker will be competing against himself in the “Best Actor” category as his Joel (from The Last of Us) will do battle with his Booker DeWitt (from BioShock Infinite).
The 2013 VGX Awards will air on Spike TV on Saturday, December 7. A complete list of this year’s nominees can be found after the break. (more…)

This new Need For Speed movie trailer is faster and furiouser
Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction.
With how often they happen in movies and on TV, you’d think the FBI was out there breaking up an illegal cross-country road race every few weeks. But for some reason, getting into a highly conspicuous sports car and tearing ass down the highway at 150 MPH just doesn’t happen in real life. Thank god for the movies as the second trailer for Need For Speed is now available for your viewing pleasure.
He’s definitely furiouser than the normally stoic Vin Diesel, I’ll give him that.
Daily Scoop: November 18, 2013 – My sweet Puppycat
Hello, everyone – it’s Nicole, returned to bring you a Daily Scoop. I was out of town for a few days, and when I came back, I had to take my beloved Puppycat to the animal hospital. Long story short, it was a harrowing few days of testing with no answers in sight. We brought him home Thursday because they said he was doing better, and sadly, he passed away on Friday morning. Let’s take a moment to remember the sweetness that was the Puppycat.
*silence*
So, go hug your pet and then read the rest of this, OK?
I got my brand new PlayStation 4 delivered, but I wasn’t in the office, so I’ll be bringing it home today. So far, all I’ve picked up is Killzone: Shadow Fall, though I am really looking forward to inFAMOUS Second Son. So many great games…
I’m also excited about the new Humble Store. It runs much like a Steam sale, in that it’s a different set of games on sale every day. It’s awesome, but again… so many games, so little time.
As always, I’ve got some shirts you might like… (more…)

Square Enix delays Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster to March 2014
Square Enix is finally ready to announce a North American release date for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The two-game package will be available for the PS3 on March 18, 2014. As you may have noticed, that’s quite a bit beyond the remake’s originally projected “Fall 2013” release. In fact, when it’s finally released, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will have spent more time in development (916 days from the initial announcement) than the original Final Fantasy X (686 days).
In honor of the release date announcement, Square Enix has uploaded a brand new trailer, which you can view above. They’ve also confirmed that gamers who pre-order Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be upgraded to a Limited Edition that comes with an exclusive artbook.
But bad news for Vita owners, the handheld version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (which was to be released separately as Final Fantasy X HD Remaster and Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster) appears to be canceled. The Vita version was not part of today’s announcement and all mention of Sony’s handheld has been stripped from the remake’s official website.
