Aero Porter Review: You’ll Never Look At Luggage the Same Way Again

If you had told me a few weeks ago that a game about sorting luggage for an airport was addictively fun, I wouldn’t have believed you. But now that I’ve played Aero Porter for hours without being able to put it down, I fully understand how much fun it can be. Level-5’s luggage-sorting game, downloadable from the 3DS eShop, is quick and easy, yet also challenging. A collaboration between Level-5 and designer Yoot Saito, Aero Porter is one of those simple-to-learn, hard-to-master puzzle games, in which you must at first separate luggage by color, and then later work around the added complications the game throws at you. Is this tiny game worth the $4.99 price tag? (more…)

Borderlands: Unconquered Review: Came, Saw, Did Not Conquer

John Shirley returns to the world of Pandora with Borderlands: Unconquered, his second novel set within the Borderlands game series. Borderlands: The Fallen was based on the first game, and it was a good one. I was hoping this return to the world of the infamous Vault hunters would be another good one, but I was more than a little disappointed – in every way. (more…)
The Games of January 2013

January will likely be a month for many gamers to either catch up on backlogs or play the games they got as presents over the holidays. Here at Warp Zoned, it’s a mix of the two. There is one game that seems to appeal to most of us, though, and that’s the new Studio Ghibli/Level-5 game finally coming to our shores, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Read on to see how we’ll be spending the next few weeks! (more…)
Warpback: What We Played in December 2012

December was a pretty sweet month for gaming here at Warp Zoned! We attacked our backlogs ferociously, and even spent some time sucked into mobile games. I know, who would have thought it? Read on to find out how we spent our holidays. Spoiler alert: we had to recharge our handheld devices a lot! (more…)
The Golden Pixel Awards 2012: Gaming’s Best, Worst, and Everything Else
![]()
Welcome to Warp Zoned’s second annual Golden Pixel Awards. It was definitely a good year for gaming. With the fight over Mass Effect 3‘s ending, the resurrection of Sleeping Dogs, and the launch of the Wii U, we were treated to 12 months of interesting stories.
So sit back and relax as we reward the best (and worst) games of 2012 with a series of accolades based on their rather unique accomplishments.
The Apocalypse List
The bombs have fallen, the economy has collapsed, food is scarce, the zombie hordes are scratching at your door, and you’ve boarded yourself up in a bunker that’ll stand for a hundred years. What better way to spend your time in “The Vault” than by playing Warp Zoned’s favorite games from 2012? It doesn’t matter if you call it a “Top Ten List” or “Our Favorites From 2012,” but these are the games we plan to keep playing even if there was no game industry to keep making games. (more…)

WZ Year in Review: The Most Popular Articles of 2012

No matter how you look at it, 2012 was an interesting year for gaming. The Wii U launched to stellar raves and can actually be found on the shelves of your local GameStop/Target/Walmart/etc. right now. The Penny Arcade crew put on two more great shows and have plans to add an Australian edition in 2013. And Mass Effect 3 generated strong emotions in everybody.
So if you’re interested in looking back on the interesting year that was, please check out 14 of our most popular articles of the year. And yes, Mass Effect 3 is mentioned in a few of them. (more…)
Kickstart This! Jingle Bells Edition

As John Lennon sang, “So this is Christmas, and what have you done?” It is the time of giving and the season to be charitable, and what better present to give than to donate to a worthy gaming project? However, for all you grinches out there, never fear! Not one of our games is Christmas-themed, so you still have a dazzling array of genres to choose from. There are deadly floppy-eared pets in Super Bunny Insurrection, the Myst-esque atmospheric exploration game Dream, and music creation using galaxies in DJ Space. Then we’ve got an attempt to build a legendary arcade emporium in Scotland with the Epic Arcade Project, and, last but not least, the Gobstopper of games, GameTron 1000.
Remember though, a game is for life, not just for Christmas. (more…)
Halo 4: Crimson Map Pack Review: Vehicle Lovin’ Fun

The first map pack for Halo 4 is here, and all three battlefields have one thing in common: vehicles. Each one has a plethora of death-dealing machinery for you to ride and enhance your Spartan-blasting pleasure (hmm, I think I’ve been playing this game way too much). So how do the new maps stack up?
