New Releases: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, Warriors Orochi 3, More

The last week of March has hit a rough patch as only a handful of new releases will be available next week:

  • EA Sports hit it pretty close to the pin with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 (PS3, Xbox 360).
  • Tecmo Koei will surely be a good walk spoiled for a bunch of time-traveling warriors in the crossover brawler Warriors Orochi 3 (Xbox 360).
  • And Capcom pulled out a well-worn putter with their Capcom Digital Collection (Xbox 360) of XBLA games.

If you’re like me, you’re probably taking a mulligan on this week. Hopefully, a hole-in-one is in our future, but at least the rest of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy rocks North America this Summer

According to Square Enix, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is pronounced “theater rhythm.” Previously, it was a tongue twister that only Japanese gamers had to untwist. But today, the publisher announced that the 3DS game will be making its way across the Pacific with its bizarro world title intact.

Of course, that crazy title fits perfectly with the crazy game Square Enix and developer Indieszero have created. Available this Summer, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a music-themed rhythm game, a first for the series. Thanks to its music-based nature, it recasts the heroes from 25 years of Final Fantasy in an adventure that requires a few well-placed stylus taps to vanquish some familiar foes.

Although, to be fair, that’s not much weirder than a Final Fantasy fighting game. And there’s been two of those.

Activision announces Transformers Prime game

The Fall’s Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is only in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360, so 3DS, DS, and Wii owners won’t get a chance to finish the Cybertronian Civil War. But transform that frown upside down as Activision has announced that Transformers Prime will appear on those platforms instead.

Transformers Prime will be based on the animated series of the same name. In the game, players will be able to control Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Arcee, Bulkhead, and more as they attempt to defeat the Decepticons once and for all.

“We are collaborating closely with the series creators to capture all the adventure, humor and friendships from the show to create an authentic action experience for Transformers fans of all ages to enjoy,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing.

All three versions of the game will be out later this year with Now Productions handling the 3DS/Wii version and Altron Corporation developing the DS version.

The Amazing Spider-Man battles Iguana in new trailer

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever… Activision makes him do. Hmm, that doesn’t quite work. But no matter, true believers! We have a new trailer featuring The Amazing Spider-Man.

This Summer’s movie of the same name will feature Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) wooing Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), booing Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary), and battling The Lizard (Rhys Ifans). And in the trailer above, we get our first look at The Iguana, a mutated iguana that, according to Marvel lore, was created when Dr. Curt Connors first transformed himself into The Lizard.

The Iguana? Seriously? Apparently, he has the same powers as The Lizard, but he can also hypnotize people. Man, the 70s were a weird time for comics weren’t they?

But no matter! The Amazing Spider-Man will be available for the 3DS, DS, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on June 26. Excelsior! And such.
