New Releases: Madden NFL 12, Bodycount, Sims Medieval: Pirates & Nobles, More

The Summer of No Games is finally over!
This week, that annual Summer ritual, the release of a new Madden game, continues with Madden NFL 12 (PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360). Also available this week is the first expansion to The Sims Medieval, The Sims Medieval: Pirates & Nobles, and Bodycount, a wild first person shooter from the creator of Black.
And there’s also a ton of family-friendly DS games.
Check out the full list of the rest of this week’s new releases after the break. (more…)
Gargoyle’s Quest added to 3DS eShop
Nintendo has released their weekly Nintendo Download update and the Game Boy classic Gargoyle’s Quest leads this week’s new games. The first adventure of Firebrand (unless you count his villainous turn in Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins) will be joined by one Virtual Console release and a trio of DSiWare games.
Originally released on the Super NES, The Ignition Factor is considered one of the best firefighting games of all time. It’s the lone addition to the Wii Shop Channel this week.
The new games on the DSiWare Shop are actually two new games and one new productivity application. The games include Magical Whip: Wizards of the Phantasmal Forest, a side-scrolling platformer and Let’s Create! Pottery, a pottery-making sim. The productivity app is simply titled Calculator, and as you may have guessed, it turns your DSi/3DS into a calculator.
More information on all of these games can be found at the Nintendo Download weekly newsletter.
Kirby Wii gets new title, October 24 release date
Kirby Wii has inhaled some of that fresh PAX air and spit out a new title (Kirby’s Return to Dreamland), a new release date (October 24) and the new trailer you see above.
The pink puffball leads an impressive lineup of playable demos that Nintendo plans to bring to this weekend’s PAX Prime. If you’ve got tickets (the show has been sold out for months), I highly recommend stopping by Nintendo’s booth (No. 462).
Check out the publisher’s full PAX lineup after the break. (more…)

Rumor: Nintendo hosting a 3DS event in Japan on September 13

UPDATE: Nintendo has confirmed they will be holding a media event on September 13.
Andriasang is reporting that rumors in the Japanese press say Nintendo will hold a 3DS media event in September.
The event is supposedly scheduled for September 13, two days ahead of the Tokyo Game Show (which runs from September 15-18). Nintendo typically doesn’t attend the Tokyo Game Show, but will often schedule their own press events in the same week. The company held a September media event last year to showcase the 3DS launch lineup.
As for this year’s event, the juiciest rumor appears to be that Nintendo is planning to release a 3D-less 3DS with a second analog stick. The rumors come from 01net, which successfully provided leaked information on the Wii U prior to E3.
So while this second analog stick business has me going “Huh?,” it may just be real.
New Releases: Deus Ex Human Revolution, Tropico 4, Devil Survivor 3DS, More

The driest August ever (both weatherwise and gamewise) continues this week as just a handful of new releases will make their way onto store shelves.
The biggest release is the long-awaited Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which will be available on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Eidos Montreal has been hard at work on the third Deus Ex game since before the company was purchased by Square Enix. The only other completely new game available this week is Tropico 4. El Presidente’s latest conquest is coming to the PC now and to the Xbox 360 sometime in the future.
The rest of this week’s new releases are all re-releases in some way. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is a 3DS remake of the DS game of the same name while Nintendo has the second wave of their Nintendo Selects budget line (Mario Strikers Charged, Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario) set for release this week.
Slim pickings to be sure (though Punch-Out!! is a complete steal at $19.99), but the big autumn game avalanche is coming soon. So be patient.

Three Resident Evil Revelations trailers lurch out of Gamescom
You might call them a horde of zombie trailers. Or perhaps they’re a pack. Though I was always partial to a murder of zombies myself.
Whatever you call it, Capcom has unveiled a new story trailer for Resident Evil Revelations along with two trailers devoted solely to gameplay. Like a zombie going for your jugular, it’s a gusher of goodies today!
You can check out the story trailer above. Both gameplay trailers are after the break. (more…)

Nintendo Download: Urban Champion… in 3D!
One of the most reviled NES games ever released, Urban Champion, makes its way to the 3DS eShop this week as part of the handheld’s “3D Classics” line.
Also available this week is a trio of DSiWare games: Zoonies: Escape from Makatu, an animal kingdom platformer; Blockado: Puzzle Island, a puzzle game; and Build-a-lot, a SimCity-like city manager.
Finally there’s Flight Control (WiiWare), an air traffic controller sim for the WiiWare service.
More details on all of these titles can be found in the Nintendo Download weekly newsletter.
Daily Scoop: August 15, 2011 – PAX approaches!
Oh man, I just realized PAX is next week. Let it be known I am officially freaking out. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Let’s see… Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games is Atari’s Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum which is just $14.99 today for the PC. They’ve also got their new weekly deals up – Dungeon Siege III is $32.99 on consoles and $25.99 on PC, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom is $14.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and to top it all off, they just announced their Summer Road Trip Handheld Gaming Event. Don’t tell Ryan Littlefield, or he’ll make me buy all the Professor Layton games.
No gaming t-shirts, but I always love references to “A Game of Thrones,” whether I buy ’em or not. Today’s is over at Tee Fury, and it’s called “Game of Crossbones:” (more…)
