Daily Scoop: February 25, 2013 – Another Monday
I hate you, Monday. I hate how quickly you bring an end to my beloved weekend. Can’t you just give us some time together? We’ve earned it!
There are some good deals going on today, if you look hard enough! Best Buy is selling a Halo 4-Branded 2000 Microsoft Points Card with 400 Free Points for $24.99.
As always, there are also a few good deals at Amazon as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is $39.99, Max Payne 3 is under $20, and the PS3 250GB Amazon Exclusive Family Entertainment Bundle is $150 off. Yowza.
Got a couple of great t-shirts today! (more…)

Super Mario Bros. 3’s World 8 in first person view is… well, super
Two years ago, YouTuber FreddieW recreated World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. in a first person perspective. It was glorious and great and it feels like I’ve been waiting forever for an encore.
Today, FreddieW outdid himself. He jumped over the flagpole, set off all the fireworks, smashed a Koopa Troopa into the staircase for a squiggly green box worth of extra lives, and moonwalked into the castle. In other words, his latest video is cool.
FreddieW has taken the final stretch of World 8 from Super Mario Bros. 3 and recreated it in a first person view. This includes the rolling tanks, Bowser’s castle, and the final fight with the King Koopa himself.
Take a bow, you’ve earned it.
Daily Scoop: February 22, 2013 – Friday is upon us
It’s finally Friday! Friday for me means catching up on homework, working on projects (in and out of school), playing some games, and hopefully watching some Adventure Time. I’m also feeling a bit under the weather, so we’ll see if I can even make it that far before passing out! A girl can hope, am I right?
Looking for some cheap games? You might want to check out Amazon’s digital deals. They’ve got some great digital deals packs, like the 2K Strategy Super Pack for $19.99, the 2K Shooter Pack for $19.99, the 2K Mega Pack for $24.99, and the Rockstar Classics for $19.99. Oh, and you can save $15 on the PC download of Borderlands 2. Scoop ’em up!
And now for some shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: February 21, 2013 – PlayStation 4 has arrived!
Well, it hasn’t physically arrived, but it has metaphorically arrived, along with a new controller, and a slew of new games! It was all announced last night at Sony’s big event. Check out our complete coverage of Sony’s “Meeting 2013” for all the hottest news!
In fact, if you go to Amazon, you can already sign up to be notified when you can purchase a PlayStation 4. Hopefully, that information will be forthcoming at E3, or maybe even at PAX East or GDC! Oh, to have a reveal at PAX East…

Daily Scoop: February 20, 2013 – Long absence edition
Hello, faithful friends! I apologize for my long absence. I was super busy last week preparing for IndieCade East up in New York City! It was an absolute blast. I got to play Bloop, Gorogoa, Johann Sebastian Joust, and lots more, including my all-time favorite game of the weekend, BaraBariBall. Just look at all this glee!
Of course, spending an entire weekend playing video games made me want to do nothing but play more video games when I got home, which is unfortunate when you have to do anything other than play video games. But at least there are a handful of deals this week! Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is $49.99 at GameStop this week, which is a great deal for the beautiful RPG. I can’t put it down whenever I’m near my PlayStation 3. Check out more details in their Weekly Ad. Amazon has a few new deals in video games this week as well. The Hitman: Absolution – Professional Edition is $49.99, Paper Mario: Sticker Star is $29.99, and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is $39.99. Scoop ’em up!
Lots of great t-shirts for sale today that are video game related! (more…)

Get Over Here! Watch the Mortal Kombat: Legacy season two trailer now!
“It has begun!”
Machinima has released the first trailer for the long-awaited second season of Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy. The two-minute preview introduces us to many of this season’s characters including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Liu Kang, Ermac, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Kenshi, and many others. And it’s good to see Cary Tagawa again. The Mortal Kombat movie alum will reprise his role as the villainous Shang Tsung in Legacy and, even though it’s been almost 20 years, it looks like he hasn’t lost a step.
Season two of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is “Koming Soon,” but definitely not soon enough.

Daily Scoop: February 11, 2013 – And the rain rain rain came down down down…
It’s a rainy, dreary day here in Philadelphia, but my spirits are high! Why, you ask? Well, Ray Merkler and I just proudly announced the return of GameLoop Philly, a local self-organizing conference for game developers. Oh, and I have the day off – I spent the morning at the doctor’s office, but now I’m free to do whatever I want, which includes playing Dead Space 3. Yeah, I’m just fine with the rain.
Looking for a deal? Well, there are a few games on sale for $19.99 over at Best Buy. You can pick up the Angry Birds Trilogy, Lalaloopsy: Carnival of Friends, or The Trash Pack. Really exciting, I know!
There are also a few deals at Amazon, but not many. Disney Epic Mickey is just $12.99, and you can also pick up Battlefield 3, Hitman: Absolution, or Sleeping Dogs for $29.99. Scoop ’em up!

Hyrule Historia’s print run of 400,000 copies is good for #1 on NYT Bestsellers List
On the “Hardcover Advice and Miscellaneous” list that is. The top non-fiction book is actually Sonia Sotomayor’s My Beloved World, a spot its held for three straight weeks. But that doesn’t stop Dark Horse Comics from crowing about their “#1 New York Times Bestseller,” which they’ve begun to do on their official blog.
Dark Horse also revealed that the highly anticipated history of The Legend of Zelda series will have a record print run approaching 400,000 copies and that as long as the book continues to sell, they’ll continue to print it.
Hyrule Historia has everything a Zelda fan could ever ask for: “Never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games, and an exclusive comic by the foremost creator of The Legend of Zelda manga, Akira Himekawa.” It was released on January 29 and is available at retailers everywhere for a retail price of $34.99.
