Daily Scoop: October 10, 2012 – Happy humpday!
I know I make that title for a lot of scoops that are on Wednesdays. But it’s simply because I’m so grateful that it’s Wednesday that I can’t help but draw attention to it! I just want it to hurry up and be the weekend so I can catch up on some sleep and possibly see Looper. I want a time travel video game based on that, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt! Now that would definitely be something I’d buy in a heartbeat.
Ahem! Anyway! GameStop has some deals going on right now. You can get Dynasty Warriors 7 for $24.99, Dark Souls for $19.99, or Fable II used for $2.99. Scoop ’em up!
And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for… t-shirts! (more…)

Daily Scoop: October 9, 2012 – Crashing hard
Whew. It’s fake Monday for me today – since I was off yesterday, today is the first day of my work week, which means it will feel like a Monday. Which can be bad or good, depending on how the day itself goes! But I am exhausted after all the cleaning and gaming I did yesterday. I finished the night off with some Alphas and Dresden Files, and then crashed hard, and haven’t been able to wake up since. It doesn’t help that it’s a gloomy day, either! Everything is so blah. Hopefully board game night tonight will be a ray of sunshine!
What deals are up today? Well, Amazon’s got a few new ones. First up, they’ve still got the Xbox 360 Entertainment Bundle up. For $229, you get the Xbox 360 4GB console, an Xbox LIVE 3 month Gold Membership, the Xbox 360 media remote, a $10 Amazon Instant Video Credit, and 3 Xbox Live Arcade games. They’re also offering a $30 credit if you purchase the Madden NFL 13 PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi Bundle. You can get $30 off the G155-Gaming and Entertainment Mobile System as well, and I saved the best for last: Max Payne 3 for $25. Scoop that up, for sure.
I’ve also got a couple of good t-shirts for you today: (more…)

Mass Effect fan film Red Sand has been unleashed on the world
Fan-made films based on video games are all the rage these days, with some efforts proving better executed than others. However, filmmakers Paul DeNigris and Caleb Evans have gone one better, by snagging Mark Meer, the voice actor behind Captain Shepard, to star in their Mass Effect prequel, Red Sand.
Set 35 years before the first game, the film explores the discovery of the Prothean ruins on Mars. Meer plays Colonel Jon Grissom, who leads a small pack of soldiers defending the ruins from desert-dwelling terrorists. The terrorists are have become addicted to a refined version of the Element Zero power source, the titular Red Sand, which has granted them unstable biotic powers.
For more information on Red Sand, be sure to visit the film’s Facebook page. And to watch the film itself, just look up, it’s at the top of this article!
Daily Scoop: October 8, 2012 – Holiday for some
So today is one of those strange days that’s a holiday for some but not for all. I am off today, so I’ve spent the day cleaning my apartment, finding some ludicrously awesome treasures (including some signed Penny Arcade and Rooster Teeth stuff, as well as a Guinness pint glass!) and playing lots of Borderlands 2. I’m taking a break now to get some writing done, and that’s where you come in!
First off, PAX East badge sales are LIVE! Hotels went up quietly, and then badge registration. It’s been a heck of a day trying to get everything coordinated! But right now, my friends and I are ready to go. Now we just have to wait a little over five months for it to get here. Hurry up!!
Today’s deals are pretty tepid – just the Amazon clearance sale. There are some gems in there if you’re willing to dig, like Silent Hill: Downpour for $16.03 on Xbox 360, Kirby’s Epic Yarn for $17.98, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for $20.87 on PS3. Scoop ’em up!
Two awesome shirts are up today, even if one is a repeat: (more…)

Daily Scoop: October 5, 2012 – Friday!
Helloooooooooooooooooooooooo nurse Friday! I can’t believe I made it. It was touch and go for a while there, but I survived the week. Now I get to play Borderlands 2 all weekend go to a wedding and then a Canadian Thanksgiving party. Hopefully I will find some time in there to continue my good fight against Handsome Jack. All work and no play makes Nicole something something!
Nothing up for deals today, but that’s ok. You’re going to need to save your money for next week, when Dishonored, Retro City Rampage, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown all come out. On the same day. Are you crying yet? You should be crying.
Other than that, you should totally check out these awesome t-shirts! (more…)

Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book incoming

The DC Universe one-on-one fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us is all set to receive a comic book based around events of the game, according to comments from NetherRealm Studios’ co-founder Ed Boon at the EB Expo in Australia.
“We’re working on an Injustice comic book to carry the story and tell the events that came before the game. With a game like Mortal Kombat, so many things spawned from there, like the movie. Obviously the extreme version is it would spawn a lot more things, but I know for sure we are making an Injustice comic.”
More things? Could he be hinting at the rumoured Justice League film as DC prepare to try and follow the success of Marvel’s The Avengers? Or is that just wishful thinking? Given DC’s excellent run of animated direct-to-DVD films, perhaps there could even be an Injustice film if fans of Batman and his brood show enough interest in the comic.
While there was no more information on the comic series, I’d expect it to emerge alongside the game in April 2013.

Part one of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries is here
We’ve been waiting for the debut of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn for a long time, April, to be exact. But after a Summer of teasing, the first episode of the webseries is finally here.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn follows UNSC Cadet Thomas Lansky during the early days of the human and Covenant war. Lansky will play a major role in Halo 4 and Forward Unto Dawn will give gamers their first glimpse at the character.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will play out over five episodes, with a new episode popping up online every Friday between now and November 2. An extended 90-minute version of the webseries is set to be included with the Halo 4 Limited Edition, which will be available on November 6.

Daily Scoop: October 4, 2012 – No deals, no shirts, no problem!
It’s another day of no deals, only this time, there aren’t any nice t-shirts, either. So I guess I’ll have to be creative and think of something else to tell you about. I can do that, right? Sure I can!
My pal Jake Vander Ende has a really cool Etsy store you should check out, called Spriteborne. He makes incredible, unique t-shirt designs using his love of video games, and adding in some stencils and bleach. I have been a huge fan of his shirts since I first met him at the Smithsonian exhibit on the art of video games. My favorite shirt has to be the Castle Crashers one, which is just too adorable.
That’s all I’ve got for today, unless you want to read about ant videos. Oh, and the Homestuck Kickstarter got funded today. Agents and exiles, rejoice!
