Quake Champions adds Sorlag, a dinosaur with a gun, to its character roster
Quake Champions‘s “Large Scale Technical Test” came to a close this past Sunday, but id Software still has more new characters to unveil, including the deranged dinosaur known as Sorlag.
Excuse me, I should amend that to add that Sorlag is a deranged dinosaur who also carries a gun and spits acid. You can learn more about Sorlag by reading up on her vitals right here or viewing the Character Trailer that’s been embedded above:
Sorlag (Sorg Flesh-Trader)
Her clan harvested the most warmbloods; they gorged themselves and had flesh-stock left over. Many credited the Haruspex, who could open terrifying windows to the Other Place using the warmbloods’ steaming guts. As their best hunter, Sorlag credited herself. She would expose him by using the warmblood’s forcefield devices to spill his “sacred” bowel-bowl. Morning came, the ritual began, and all saw the Other Place—dark, metal, cold. Sorlag leapt with the device. But her claws had crossed the window. She saw the bowl topple as she was pulled in, screeching.Active Ability – Acid Spit: Have an enemy pinned in an corner or want to protect the Obelisk in Sacrifice? Sorlag’s Acid Spit is the perfect added weapon to finish off foes or help control key pathways and locations. Spray it on enemies, on the floor, or on the walls and anyone who passes through will take immediate damage as well as become poisoned, taking additional damage over time.
Passive Abilities: Sorlag has two Passives. First, Bunny Hop allows her to gain speed while jumping forward in a straight line and grants her a great deal of maneuverability while in the air. Second, her Acid Fiend ability means that she’s protected from her own Acid Spit, as well as the Acid Spit of enemy Sorlags.
The full version of Quake Champions will be available for the PC sometime later this year, but a new beta session for the game is expected to begin this weekend. If you still need to acquire a beta key, you can grab one now at Quake.com.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 won’t be at E3 2017, but Ubisoft will reveal it sometime this year

Ubisoft’s Michel Ancel recently got into a discussion with some fans on Instagram, and he confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 won’t make an appearance at this year’s E3 Expo. However, he added that progress is being made on the sequel to his cult action/adventure, and we should finally see it sometime this year:
Not sure that E3 would be the best place to showcase [Beyond Good & Evil 2] but we’re working on the game so sometime this year, you should hear about it!
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first announced all the way back in 2008, and Ancel has been delivering small teases connected to the game ever since. It was officially re-announced in October of 2016, and the latest rumors say it could become a Switch exclusive.
A 2017 launch seems out of the question, but hopefully we’ll learn more about the game before the end of the year.
Far Cry 5 box art hints at a story involving a religious cult and a lot of guns
Ubisoft will pull the curtain back on Far Cry 5 with a special “Worldwide Announcement Trailer” on Friday, May 26. But first, they’ve unveiled the game’s box art, which provides a few big hints as to what the title will be about.
With the Montana setting and the Last Supper-esque posing of the characters, it’s easy to assume that a religious cult will play a major part in Far Cry 5’s plot. And the amount of guns strewn around the table is probably meant to invoke comparisons to David Koresh’s Branch Davidians or Jim Jones’s Jonestown. Also, I don’t know if you noticed, but the cult leader is very likely getting ready to feed his prisoner to that wolfhound on the right.
If all goes according to plan, Far Cry 5 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime this year.
Capcom will add revamped CFN online service, new Targets, Ed, Spain stage to Street Fighter V on May 30
Capcom will release a major update for Street Fighter V on May 30 that’ll add a large number of new features and downloadable content to the game.
The big news is that the “Capcom Fighters Network,” Street Fighter V’s revamped online mulitplayer service, will be available on May 30. The CFN will feature faster loading times, matchmaking improvements, a “Rage Quit Penalty System,” and more. All players who sign in to the CFN by June 13 will receive 50,000 Fight Money, and you can learn more about all the improvements it’ll bring to the game at the Capcom-Unity blog.
A new character and a new stage will also be available to download alongside the May 30 update. Ed is a young commander in M. Bison’s army, and he’ll be available to download for $5.99 (or 100,000 Fight Money), or as part of the Season 2 Character Pass. Vega’s Spain stage, complete with a climbable fence, will also be available to download for $3.99 (or 70,000 Fight Money).
And speaking of Fight Money, Capcom will launch a series of new monthly Targets on May 30 for Street Fighter V players who also own the Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Premier Pass. Players with the skills to match these Targets will earn Fight Money to new unlock characters, stages, and costumes.
That’s all for now, but Capcom has many more updates planned for 2017, including three additional new characters.

Xbox Store Today: Unit 4, Gwent Open Beta, A Walk in the Dark, more
Welcome to another Wednesday update for the Xbox Games Store. Five new Xbox One games are now available to download through the digital storefront, and a few highlights include…
Unit 4 is a retro-themed co-op platformer from Gamera Interactive where players jump, dash, and rope swing across the galaxy in search of an evil alien army.
On an entirely opposite spectrum is Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which is now available in Open Beta thanks to CD Projekt Red. The collectible card game made famous by The Witcher gives players command of “highly customizable armies” and asks them to cleverly “sling powerful unit and spell cards” to emerge victorious.
Finally, A Walk In The Dark is a monochromatic platformer from Flying Turtle that is very reminiscent of Limbo. Players will control a cat named Bast and explore a “dark fantasy world” in this Xbox Play Anywhere title.
More information about all of today’s new release can be found after the break. (more…)

First Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 trailer throws a ton of characters at the screen
The first trailer for Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 opens with Baby Groot sprinting towards the screen as an explosion rages behind him… and it just gets wilder from there.
Baby Groot is trying to repair the timestream in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, and that’s because C-List villain Kang the Conquerer disrupted it and forced all of Marvel’s heroes and villains to gather together in Chronopolis, a city outside of time. And when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Loki is hobnobbing with Doctor Octopus and Ego the Living Planet, while Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Gwen swing around town. And don’t forget all the Avengers… and regular-sized Groot… and his pal Rocket… and…
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 14. The game will also be available for the Nintendo Switch sometime this Fall.
Take-Two will release a “new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises” in 2018
Take-Two Interactive is gearing up for a rather quiet 2017. As of right now, the publisher’s release calendar only features NBA 2K18 in September and WWE 2K18 this Fall. But 2018 might be one of the “biggest” yet for the company.
We already know that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch in Spring 2018, but CEO Strauss Zelnick also said during Take-Two’s most recent quarterly financial report that, “A highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises” will be released during their next fiscal year (which runs from April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019).
Aside from NBA 2K and WWE 2K, the most famous franchises from Take-Two’s 2K Games label are BioShock, Borderlands, XCOM, and Civilization. But the latter two received new entries just last year, so it’s unlikely that Take-Two is working on XCOM 3 or Civilization VII. Instead, it’s much more reasonable to believe the executive is providing a very early tease for Gearbox’s Borderlands 3 or the currently-unannounced (but known to be in development) BioShock 4.
Whichever game it turns out to be, Zelnick isn’t concerned with hitting a release date ahead of the holiday shopping season. Especially when you’re talking about a game as big as Red Dead Redemption 2:
For a title like [Red Dead Redemption 2], I don’t think the launch window really matters. And obviously, Red Dead Redemption went out in May and was an extraordinarily successful title. Consumers are consuming entertainment year round. Now they don’t stop in the summer months. And we believe that if you give people an extraordinary experience, they will show up for it.
Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this mystery title (and Red Dead Redemption 2) soon.
Take-Two has shipped more than 80 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online is more popular than ever
Grand Theft Auto V continues to steamroll the competition. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick lead off yesterday’s quarterly financial report by announcing that the publisher has shipped more than 80 million copies of the game since its release in 2013.
Even though that’s an absolutely astonishing number, Grand Theft Auto V still trails Wii Sports and Minecraft on the list of best-selling games of all time.
Grand Theft Auto V’s continued sales success is mostly due to the way its sprawling single-player story draws in new players every month. But the game’s multiplayer component, “Grand Theft Auto Online,” has actually never been more popular. According to Zelnick, Take-Two made more money through microtransactions in “Grand Theft Auto Online” during their last fiscal year (April 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017) than ever before. Not bad for a game that’s almost four years old.
New content for “Grand Theft Auto Online” is released on a nearly weekly basis, and Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar Games is currently hard at work on even more updates to the game mode:
On “GTA Online,” we have said that plenty more content is coming. More announcements will be made by Rockstar Games. The title is absolutely being supported by the label.
With Red Dead Redemption 2‘s recent delay, this strategy will surely sell more copies of Grand Theft Auto V (and keep “Grand Theft Auto Online” players happy) for a long time.
