Prepare to feel sad again… here’s the Dead Island: Riptide debut trailer

Posted on September 22, 2012 by Nicole Kline

Well, that was depressing.

Deep Silver’s sequel to Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide, is scheduled to be out sometime in 2013. Until then, get super bummed out from this trailer, and the premise of the game:

Furious monsoon rainstorms have laid waste to the island of Palanai in the Banoi archipelago, waters have risen and caused a flood disaster — because of this and the raging zombie invasion, a rescue mission for the survivors seems to be without prospect of success. All hope seems to have been lost for the surviving humans…

Whatever. Zombies!

Kickstart This! Horror Edition

Posted on September 20, 2012 by Andrew Rainnie

In our third installment of Kickstart This! we’re preparing for Halloween a bit early. Many of these titles have a certain horror flavour to them, including Monsters, a 2D shooter with a story provided by our very own Nicole Kline. Other titles featured are grid-based tactical game Pangenic, psychological puzzle game Broken, romantic adventure Zombie Cruise, and Worlds Beyond, an RPG about the end of the world. And let’s not forget side-scrolling beat-em-up Crisis Heart Brawlers: Clash at Otakon. It has nothing to do with horror. It’s just awesome. And needs your money!

Let us begin. (more…)

Do you expect me to talk? No Mr. Bond, I expect a Goldfinger mission in 007 Legends

Posted on September 18, 2012 by John Scalzo

Activision has made a few dubious film choices for 007 Legends, their decades-spanning history of the James Bond franchise. Moonraker, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and Die Another Day may have their moments, but they’re not considered the best of Bond by a long shot.

Thankfully, Activision’s final pick is the best Bond film of all-time… Goldfinger! The Fort Knox caper will include appearances from Auric Goldfinger, Oddjob, and Pussy Galore along with the crotch laser and a naked painted lady. Do you expect me to talk? Because if you do, I’ll say woohoo!

007 Legends will be available for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 16 with a Wii U version scheduled for release in November.

Bad Piggies take flight in first gameplay trailer

Posted on September 18, 2012 by Andrew Rainnie

The green menaces from Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise are finally getting their own title, Bad Piggies. Described as “The Piggest Game Ever,” the publisher has launched a new trailer showing how the mechanics of the game work. While it still maintains the Angry Birds style, the game comes across as more of a mash-up of World of Goo and LittleBigPlanet. Players must construct vehicles for both land and air (pigs can fly, but cannot swim apparently) that will be able to navigate the topsy-turvy levels without killing the Piggies navigating inside.

bad Piggies is set for release on iOS, Mac and Android on September 27th, and soon after on Windows Phone, and PC.

Daily Scoop: September 17, 2012 – Borderlands 2 tonight!

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Nicole Kline

I am freaking out over how excited I am about Borderlands 2 coming out at midnight tonight. Please don’t expect me to be coherent for a few days. I’m going to be destroying everything I see in Pandora for at least the first 24 hours. I’m playing it on the PlayStation 3, which seems to be depressing some of my friends, but oh well. I’m doing this! I’m making it happen.

Interested in playing with my friends and me while we wreak havoc across the planet? Leave a comment here or tweet at us (@WarpZoned) and tell me why you think you’re worth it. The luckiest person will get an invite to my PSN friends list and can see how pathetic my trophy collection really is.

Amazon’s got a few deals today:

Sadly, this Monday brings us only two t-shirts! (more…)
