Daily Scoop: February 23, 2012 – That Borderlands 2 trailer song
If you’re anything like me, you’ve watched that awesome Borderlands 2 trailer half a dozen times already, wishing you knew whose song was playing in the background. Well, good news: my amazing boyfriend gave me the answer! The artist is Nero and the song is called “Doomsday.” I mean, I know a lot of people are loving or hating on dubstep right now, but I’m really digging this song. And that title is pretty fitting for the trailer…

Gotham City Impostors Review: The Heroes Who Need An Introduction

A fear of clowns seems like an irrational fear to some people. But it makes total sense after witnessing the destruction and mayhem caused by Joker-wannabes in Gotham City Impostors. A simple premise makes up the background of the game – people of Gotham City have taken advantage of Batman’s absence (presumably while he’s in Arkham City) and have decided to band together as Joker imposters in order to commit consequence-free crime. Well, Batman wouldn’t let the Joker himself get away with it, so naturally, every Joker has his Batman – or a squad of rookie Batmen, in this case. Rising to the call of duty, these clumsy, self-proclaimed vigilantes have decided to band together and undo the terrible deeds that the arbitrary, irrational Jokerz have committed. This is where Gotham City Impostors is born. (more…)
Borderlands 2 trailer, “Doomsday,” dates the game, rips your face off
I don’t often say this, and I don’t usually put much stock in trailers, but damn. I’ve got goosebumps after watching that trailer. I nearly joypuked at my desk. I’m so looking forward to Salvador, Maya, Axton, and, uh, Zero the invisible ninja. This trailer is bigger than life. There’s still going to be four-player co-op, you can catch a new ride (come on get you one!), and there will be more skills – “for the payment of bigger bills.” There’s also a brand new baddie, a tyrant named Handsome Jack, who seems to have some sort of Death Star device. It’s no joke that “we’re gonna need a lotta guns.”
Borderlands 2 will be out on September 18 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready to get back to Pandora.

A handful of additional launch titles will follow it into stores this week including Army Corps of Hell, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, and Touch My Katamari.

Maxis to announce next project at GDC 2012

It’s starting to look like Electronic Arts has every intention of owning this year’s Game Developers Conference. A few days ago, the publisher confirmed that a Medal of Honor 2 announcement will take place during the conference. Now, EA’s Senior Director of PR, Erik Reynolds, has also revealed that Maxis (creators of SimCity, The Sims, and Spore) will unveil their next project during the “EA Game Changers” event.
Scheduled for Tuesday, March 6 at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time), the event’s tagline is “How Can We Change the World Together?,” so whatever Maxis is cooking up, expect it to have a ton of community features like we saw in Spore. The event has also been described as “huge” and Reynolds promised that “special guests” will be in attendance.
If you can’t make it to GDC, fret not, as EA plans to livestream the announcement at EA.com/gamechangers.
Modern Warfare 3 “Overwatch” trailer reaches dizzying heights
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s latest Elite Drop, “Overwatch,” will be on top of a New York high rise. You’ll laugh at the overt sexism, appreciate the “cornucopia of sniping nooks and crannies,” and generally drool at how good this looks. Oh, and there’s more Rob Riggle too.
Me? Give me some Nuketown 24/7 and I’m a happy gal.
“Overwatch” will be available on February 21 for Xbox Live for Call of Duty Elite Premium members.
