Latest Earth Defense Force 2025 trailer shows off the EDF’s vehicles
D3 Publisher Japan has released another trailer for Earth Defense Force 2025, again focusing on the new Air Raider class and his accompaniment of deployable pods (which include air strikes, shield walls, turrets, and health beacons).
The trailer also give a good bit of screentime to the EDF’s vehicles. With Sandlot taking back the development reins, they’ve pushed the helicopter back into service. A trio of tanks, a massive new walking mech, and a motorcycle with a sidecar (which likely replaces the hoverbike) can also be seen.
Earth Defense Force 2025 will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this year.

The Golden Pixel Awards 2012: Gaming’s Best, Worst, and Everything Else
![]()
Welcome to Warp Zoned’s second annual Golden Pixel Awards. It was definitely a good year for gaming. With the fight over Mass Effect 3‘s ending, the resurrection of Sleeping Dogs, and the launch of the Wii U, we were treated to 12 months of interesting stories.
So sit back and relax as we reward the best (and worst) games of 2012 with a series of accolades based on their rather unique accomplishments.
The Apocalypse List
The bombs have fallen, the economy has collapsed, food is scarce, the zombie hordes are scratching at your door, and you’ve boarded yourself up in a bunker that’ll stand for a hundred years. What better way to spend your time in “The Vault” than by playing Warp Zoned’s favorite games from 2012? It doesn’t matter if you call it a “Top Ten List” or “Our Favorites From 2012,” but these are the games we plan to keep playing even if there was no game industry to keep making games. (more…)

EA shutting down online servers for NBA Jam, NBA Live 10, Sims 2, more
Electronic Arts has announced another round of shutdowns for some of their online-enabled games. This time the hammer is falling on EA Sports’ 2009/2010 slate of games, including NBA Live 10 and NBA Jam. This announcement means that NBA Jam: On Fire Edition becomes EA’s only basketball game with online play.
The publisher is also cutting the cord on online support for The Sims 2, claiming it’s “no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.”
You can find the full list of upcoming server shutdowns after the break. (more…)
Edge of Twilight will finally see the light of day in Summer 2013
Edge of Twilight is a steampunk fantasy adventure game that has been in the works for a long time. Originally announced in 2007 (and in development well before that), the game was thought to be canceled last year.
But it looks like Edge of Twilight might be breaking for the dawn soon as developer Fuzzyeyes has announced the game will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Summer 2013. Not only that, but they’ve also confirmed that an iOS spinoff, Edge of Twilight: Horizon, will be available as a free download on the iTunes App Store soon.
Sadly, the PC version of Edge of Twilight appears to have actually been canceled as no mention of it was included in the most recent PS3/Xbox 360 announcement.
EA says Maple Leafs would have beaten Red Wings in 2013 Winter Classic
if you’re a hockey fanatic, you know that the NHL and the Players Association are this close to cancelling the entire season over their labor dispute. But with talks resuming today, there’s still hope that we could see some professional hockey in 2013.
What you may not know is that EA Sports has been simulating the entire 2012-2013 season with NHL 13 and they just posted a highlight reel of what have been tomorrow’s Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings.
The Winter Classic would have been a tense back-and-forth that remained tied at 4-4 through overtime. But the Maple Leafs would emerge victorious thanks to a shootout goal from John-Michael Liles.
I bet it would have been a great game.
Crystal Dynamics adding multiplayer mode to Tomb Raider
Crystal Dynamics’ reboot of Tomb Raider is definitely one of 2013’s most anticipated new releases. But now, in the waning days of 2012, the developer has revealed that they still have one more secret hidden away in Lara Croft’s short shorts… multiplayer!
The first details about the game’s multiplayer mode will appear in the February 2013 issue of Official Xbox Magazine, which should be shipping to subscribers now (it’ll be available at newsstands on January 8).
Do newsstands even exist anymore? They must, but it just sounds wrong.

Rumor: First CoD Black Ops II DLC titled “Revolution,” coming to Xbox 360 next month
A reddit user has uploaded a picture of a poster that supposedly showcases the first downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Titled “Revolution,” the pack will contain four multiplayer maps (Downhill, Grind, Hydro, Mirage), one Zombies map (Die Rise), and one new weapon (Peacekeeper SMG).
A second set of images show that the pack will be released first through the Xbox Live Marketplace on January 29. If history is any guide, the pack will be available for PC and PS3 (and hopefully Wii U) owners a month later.
The first DLC packs for Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops were also released during the last week of January, so this leak is probably legit.
