ResidentEvil.net features trailer released as RE6 goes gold

Resident Evil 6 has gone gold, and Capcom has released a trailer for the new ResidentEvil.net service that they showed at last week’s Gamescom. RE.net is a free online service that is aimed to extend the playability of the game through site unlockables, events online, stat tracking, and some kind of WWE-themed gold belt that you can get for winning matches. Check out the trailer above for full details.

Resident Evil 6 will be out on October 2 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Kick back with three more Grand Theft Auto V screenshots

Just like they said they would, Rockstar has released three more screenshots from Grand Theft Auto V. Whereas Monday’s images showed all the way you can get around Los Santos, today’s screens are all about slowing down and enjoying life. Specifically… dirtbiking, tennis, and skydiving.

You can view all the screenshots for yourself after the break. (more…)

Sony adds 17 games to PS Store including Counter-Strike GO, Dust 514 beta, more

Yesterday’s PlayStation Store update marked the final week of Sony’s PSN Play promotion. As promised, the publisher added Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to their download service. But they also added a few other games as well. Exactly how many did they add? How does 17 sound? Oh, and a closed beta too.

Ready? Here goes…

Two PS3 Full Games (Michael Jackson: The Experience and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron)… Nine PSN Games (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Way of the Samurai 4, Metal Gear Solid 2 HD, Metal Gear Solid 3 HD, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD, Deep Black, Retro/Grade, Crazy Strike Bowling, and Legasista)… Two PS Vita Games (Metal Gear Solid 2 HD and Metal Gear Solid 3 HD)… One PS2 Classic (GunGrave Overdose)… and Three PS Minis (Top Trumps NBA All Stars, Chopper I, and The Next Space).

And that’s not counting the launch of the Dust 514 closed beta, which began yesterday for PlayStation Plus members.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break. Or you can visit the PlayStation Blog for a rundown of this week’s new game add-ons. (more…)

Tokyo Jungle comes to America in September

Did you watch that trailer for Tokyo Jungle? No? Well, you should.

I’ll wait.

Watch it yet? Ok, good. Then you saw the words “Urban based animal survival genre.” It’s like they took Twelve Monkeys and made only the above-ground part, with the wild animals running around all over Philadelphia, into a video game. There are “over 50 playable animals ranging from Pomeranians to Lions” in the game, according to the PlayStation Blog. There were baby chicks, and some dogs about to get it on, and was that a kangaroo attacking a tiger?

Wait a minute… did they say Pomeranians? I’m not sure what is going on here. All I know is that Tokyo Jungle comes to the PlayStation Network (priced at $14.99) on September 25.

Sports Champions 2 moves into stores on October 30

The sequel to 2010’s Sports Champions will be out on October 30, according to the PlayStation Blog. The team is hard at work “giving the game one final coat of polish and squashing bugs right now,” says Senior Producer, Jeremy Ray. If only bug squashing were a sport!

Sports Champions 2 will have Bowling, Boxing, Golf, Skiing (what???), Tennis, and new Archery, as well as an avatar creator, so you don’t have to use those ludicrous caricatures anymore. There’s something called Party Play as well, and I have no idea what’s going on in that image above, but I’ll bet dollars to donuts those two things are related. Whatever. Just give me a bow and arrow and let me achieve zen and sore upper arms!

These new GTA5 screenshots can’t drive 55

Rockstar has released a trio of new screenshots for Grand Theft Auto V, all relating to ways you get around the great state of San Andreas.

The screenshots include a shrouded figure riding a bike on the Pleasure Pier, a Cheetah sports car peeling out, and a fighter jet that looks to be piloted by the unnamed main character.

You can check out all three screens after the break and be sure to stop back soon as Rockstar has promised to release more images from Grand Theft Auto V later this week. (more…)

Sony Japan Studio makes it Rain at Gamescom

When Sony registered several domain names related to “rain,” many assumed it had something to do with Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain. Instead, the publisher revealed Rain at Gamescom, a new and beautiful title from Sony’s Japan Studio. In the trailer, we’re introduced to an invisible boy who can only be seen outside in the rain. When he wanders inside or under shelter, players can only see him via footprints or by objects that move as he touches him.

With a similar concept to Hudson Soft’s inspired, but clumsily executed, Wii title Lost in Shadow, Rain looks to be a PlayStation Network exclusive. While little other information was revealed, the trailer shows the protagonist being chased by other wet, ghostly figures. And during his flight, he appears to be looking for someone else, possibly a little girl.

Rain currently doesn’t have a release date, but Sony has promised more information will be revealed soon.
