New tracks, 4-player support for Just Dance 3

You now can have the choice to humiliate yourself at a party along with three of your friends: Ubisoft has announced 4-player support for Just Dance 3 at Comic-Con. Just Dance 3 is out on October 11 for the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360, so you might want to start limbering up now.

Along with the new mode that allows four simultaneous players to “jump in and jump out” of gameplay, Just Dance 3 will now allow you to record your own choreography to share online. Challenge your friends to match your own herky-jerky movements and join you on the Facebook tag wall of shame.

In addition to all of this, there are some new tracks to shake yo’ booty to:

  • The Sugarhill Gang – “Apache (Jump On It)” (You all know the dance and don’t want to admit it)
  • The Girly Team – “Baby One More Time” (The Britney Spears song?)
  • Cee Lo Green – “Forget You” (Doesn’t this have another name?)
  • Madness – “Night Boat to Cairo” (Walking like an Egyptian is optional)
  • Tommy Sparks – “She’s Got Me Dancing” (I would hope so… I mean, it is in the game title)
  • The Buggles – “Video Killed The Radio Star” (Hopefully not choreography featured in GTA: Vice City)

I don’t need a game to teach me how to dance. I can do the Macarena all by myself, thank you.

Freddy Krueger is the final Mortal Kombat DLC character

You know what, I’m just going to take credit for this one.

A misreading of a tweet from series creator Ed Boon back in April first birthed the “Freddy Krueger in Mortal Kombat” rumor. It was quickly debunked, but apparently the team at NetherRealm thought it was a good idea as well. With a little help from parent company Warner Bros. (the conglomerate’s movie arm owns the rights to Krueger), the Dream Warrior will now do battle with a bunch of ninja warriors.

PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Freddy Krueger on August 9. In keeping with the previous DLC characters, he will be priced at $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points). Check out the trailer above for a full look at Freddy and his new “two-gloved” fighting style as well as a pair of Fatalities that can only be described as awesome. I mean, a blood geyser straight out of the original Nightmare on Elm Street? Flawless Victory, NetherRealm.

Oh, and you’re welcome.

Zombies and Miniskirts: Suda 51 announces Lollipop Chainsaw

No, it isn’t a Highschool of The Dead video game, but it is damn close. Lollipop Chainsaw is a new trip in the works from Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, the same people that brought you No More Heroes, Killer 7, and Shadows of the Damned. Although there is no release date yet, the game is evidently in the fine tuning stages and the studio has secured a publisher to release the game in English for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Juliet Starling is a cheerleader at San Romero High School (I get what you did there Suda, you clever mouse, you) whose whole school becomes zombified and she needs to teach those brain hungry flesh munchers a lesson with a chainsaw and a miniskirt.

“Actually I’ve wanted to do a crazy horror-action game like this set in a school for a while now,” Suda told Famitsu magazine. “Something where the classrooms, corridors, gymnasium and so on are suddenly transformed into something completely different. I was also working on a game concept centered around using a chainsaw as a weapon, and once the idea for the Juliet character began to form, it was just a perfect fit.”

Surprisingly, Lollipop Chainsaw aims to be a somewhat cute game. It will evidently be trading in gushing sprays of blood for bursts of pink light. And Akira Yamaoka, the man behind the sound and music for Silent Hill and Shadows of the Damned, has been hard at work on creating bubbly pop tunes for Lollipop Chainsaw.

Looks like all that cheerleading practice will help you survive the slavering hoards of undead. And let’s hope Fox doesn’t decide to headshot Lollipop Chainsaw with a lawsuit due to its rather obvious similarities to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Prototype 2 gets dated with a first look at Comic-Con

Alex Mercer, that other gravelly voiced super-anti-hero, will be back for another round (this time as the bad guy) against a new starring character, Sgt. James Heller, in Prototype 2. We also know when this showdown will take place as Activision has tagged Prototype 2 with an April 24, 2012 release date.

Radical Entertainment will be on hand at the Activision booth at the San Diego Comic-Con to unveil a first look at the new game. They will be hosting 15 minute stage presentations to showcase parts of the wild shape shifting action as well as to give out some Prototype branded goodies like Heller’s leather jacket and a custom Alex Mercer skinned Xbox 360. You can get a taste of the Comic-Con reveal in the trailer above.

For this new jaunt into the Prototype universe you will be assuming the role of Sgt. James Heller. You will need to use all the genetic and shape shifting weapons in your arsenal to take down Alex Mercer. But don’t worry, you will be slurping down people to assume their identities again in no time!

The Darkness II delayed; demo available at Comic-Con

Jackie Estacado returns with the Darkness at his back… on his back? Maybe it is that the Darkness has his back…

First, the bads news. 2K Games has delayed the release of The Darkness II. Previously scheduled to ship to stores in October, the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 game will now be released on February 7, 2012.

Anyway, 2K is celebrating 15 years of The Darkness comics at Comic-Con this year. They will be co-hosting a special panel called “Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment” featuring Marc Silvestri (co-creator of The Darkness) and Mike Patton (the in-game voice of The Darkness) amongst other talented people from Top Cow Productions.

2K also plans to have 8 playable demos of The Darkness II up and running for your enjoyment at the Top Cow booth. You will get to experience first hand what they are calling Quad-Wielding. Now you can use those two extra demon arms to maim and dismember some poor schmoes while your hands remain free to perpetrate mayhem with heavy ordinance.

It is nice to see a video game respecting the source material enough to emulate it in style and spirit. It won’t be October, but you’ll get a chance to wield those extra demon arms you always wanted soon.
