PS Store This Week: Sundered, Pyre, Super Cloudbuilt, more

The indie titles keep coming on the PlayStation Store, and this week’s update includes three titles of particular interest…
Sundered is a side-scrolling MetroidVania from Thunder Lotus Games, and it’ll be available for the PS4 this Friday. Incorporating some terrifying Lovecraftian themes, players will fight for survival (and their sanity) in this hand-drawn adventure.
Also available for the PS4 this week is Pyre, a team-based Action RPG from Supergiant Games. Players will compete in a series of mystical competitions to help win freedom for their exiles in the Campaign, but they can also fight it out with friends in the Versus Mode.
Finally, Coilworks’s Super Cloudbuilt will bring a futuristic platforming (with a dash of parkour) to the PS4 this week.
You can learn more about all of these titles (and a few other new releases) after the break. (more…)
Graceful Explosion Machine will blast its way onto the PC and PS4 on August 8
Vertex Pop’s Graceful Explosion Machine added a bit of color to launch of the Nintendo Switch this Spring, but it looks like the side-scrolling shooter will warp to several new destinations next month. According to a post on the developer’s official website, Graceful Explosion Machine will be released for the PC and PS4 on August 8.
In addition to launching Graceful Explosion Machine on a pair of new platforms, Vertex Pop has also been working to update the game on the Switch. Fans will definitely notice the faster loading times, but an expanded stats screen is also on the docket:
We started by redesigning the score screen to give a clearer breakdown of your score, weapon usage, and additional stats that better reflect your play style. It’s both fun and functional.
We also wanted to make it easier to capture and share those clutch GEM moments. Once you’re in the zone, we know it’s hard to stop the game even for a few seconds to grab a screenshot, so we had to come up with a really creative solution.
Or, more accurately, a really technical one: We designed an AI system to pinpoint the most exciting moment of your run, which we then automagically screenshot and display on the score screen. You can fullscreen it, add it to your Album, share it, etc.
This update for Graceful Explosion Machine is now available to download on the Nintendo Switch, and will be available for the PC and PS4 when the game launches on August 8.

Shelob isn’t just a giant spider in the latest Middle-Earth: Shadow of War trailer
Shelob is quite possibly the most famous spider in all of fiction, but the character will become so much more in this Fall’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.
“The Spider” revealed her human form to Talion and Celebrimbor in a new trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War that was released during this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. Players will actually approach Shelob as something of an ally, and she’ll provide visions that help push the game’s plot forward. While that sounds like a good deal for Talion, I’m not sure I’d be able to trust a giant spider.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 10.

Spider-Man, Haggar, Frank West, Nemesis join Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite in Comic-Con 2017 trailer
The Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite roster recently expanded by four as Capcom revealed a new trailer featuring Spider-Man, Final Fight‘s Haggar, Dead Rising‘s Frank West, and Resident Evil 3‘s Nemesis during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The video also includes more footage of Thanos and Gamora, as well as the first look at the Mind Stone in action.
If you’re unfamiliar with any member of this quartet, the Capcom-Unity blog delves into their backstories a bit, and discusses how the Mind Stone can affect matches:
The Mind Stone is the fifth announced Infinity Stone for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. This stone brings a command grab type of attack to its wielder in the air and on the ground. Upon landing a successful Infinity Surge attack, the opponent will fall to the ground and wake up in a daze, giving the wielder plenty of time to set up their next attack. Activating the Infinity Storm gives players a boost in hyper gauge regeneration. Hyper gauge will naturally increase without performing any additional actions, letting players build up their powerful super attacks much faster.
Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 19.

Supergiant’s Pyre is out this Tuesday… so here’s a Launch Trailer
Supergiant Games will launch Pyre for the PC and PS4 this Tuesday, July 25. In addition to confirming that Pyre will be playable in 4K at frames per second on the PS4 Pro, the developer also unveiled a Launch Trailer for their party-based action RPG, which has been embedded above.
Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Supergiant’s Greg Kasavin revealed he’s particularly proud of the number of characters they were able to cram into the trailer:
My favorite part of this trailer is, it has more characters in its 90 second running time than you meet over the entire course of our first two games. And, it’s really only scratching the surface — you’ll see what I mean once you play the full game! For example, the trailer doesn’t reveal one of the most unique aspects of Pyre’s campaign, which is that there’s no Game Over — the story moves forward no matter whether you prevail or you fail in any of the game’s high-stakes ritual competitions, where the freedom of your fellow exiles hangs in the balance.
Finally, Supergiant announced that If you decide to pre-order Pyre through the PlayStation Store or Steam, you’ll receive a 10% discount.
