Prey will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 5
Publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer Arkane Studios have announced that Prey will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 5. Bethesda found a lot of success last May with the launch of id Software’s Doom, so it makes perfect sense they’d want to try again with another sci-fi shooter in a similar spot on the calendar.
Prey is completely unrelated to Human Head’s 2006 shooter for the PC and Xbox 360, which is also known as Prey. Instead, it’s been designed by Arkane as a complete re-imagining of the Prey name, though it does share a similar themes of alien control and human resistance. A newly-released gameplay trailer will show fans and newcomers alike a look at some of the changes the developer made to the formula.
Players who purchase Prey before its May 5th launch date will receive the Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack as a pre-order bonus. The DLC pack contains a “Family Heirloom” Margrave Shotgun and other equipment to fight the alien invaders including three Neuromods players can spend to acquire new abilities, two Medkits, a Fabrication Plan to create the Shotgun, a Starter Kit for building tools and weapons, and a “Unique Upgrade” to “help players preserve their limited resources.”

Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 PS4 Review: Final Justice

At Sony’s PlayStation Experience event in December, Capcom surprised fighting game fans everywhere with two major announcements. The first was Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, a brand new entry in the ever-popular Marvel Vs Capcom franchise. And the second was that Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, which originally debuted five years ago, was getting ported to current-gen systems. Now available as a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive, and eventually making its way to the Xbox One and Steam, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 hopes to scratch gamers’ fighting game itch until Infinite comes out later this year.
So now several questions arise… Is Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 worth picking up on the PS4? Should I purchase it if I still have the original? What’s included in the PS4 re-release? Has Zero finally been nerfed? While I’ll do my best to answer all these questions, I will definitely tell you this is one worth picking up… but maybe not just yet… (more…)
Sony San Diego details MLB The Show 17’s Retro Mode and Twitch livestream schedule
Pitchers and Catchers report in just 19 days… which means the 2017 Major League Baseball season is right around the corner. That also means that Sony San Diego is putting the finishing touches on MLB 17 The Show, which will launch exclusively for the PS4 on March 28.
And like any good skipper, Sony San Diego’s Ramone Russell wants his players to be ready to step into the batter’s box on Opening Day, so the Community Specialist took over the PlayStation Blog to deliver a few more details on the SNES-styled Retro Mode:
Retro mode is pretty much a one-button mode, but with surprising depth, and all the new animations, gameplay additions, and improvements found in the regular version of the game.
For example, in an effort to simplify the batter vs. pitcher battle, we’ve taken all the pitching attributes out and boiled them down to velocity, break, and control. Because there is no high and low in the strike zone, you have three pitches at your disposal that you can trigger with the touch of one button. To throw a fastball you hold down on the left analog stick and press X. To throw a changeup you hold up on the left analog stick and press X. And to throw a slider you press to the left or right on the left analog stick after the pitch is released.
One of the wrinkles we’ve added is that velocity is controlled by holding down or up on the analog stick just before the pitcher releases. In closing, you choose velocity before the pitch is thrown and you can affect movement (left or right) after the pitch is thrown.
Russell also revealed that Sony San Diego will provide a full scouting report on MLB The Show 17’s new modes and features with weekly livestreams on Twitch and Developer Blogs on YouTube beginning February 7.
Finally, if you’re planning to purchase MLB The Show 17 in Canada or Taiwan, Sony also revealed the special cover athletes for those regions. The Canadian cover will feature Aaron Sanchez of the Toronto Blue Jays. Meanwhile, Wei-Yin Chen of the Miami Marlins will appear on the Taiwanese cover.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will also be released for the PC in 2017

First unveiled at the 2015 PlayStation Experience, we’ve known for some time now that Bandai Namco and Level-5 are hard at work bringing Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom to the PS4. Today, the publisher confirmed that the RPG is also heading for the PC in 2017. So if you’re new to the franchise, Bandai Namco has provided a quick primer on the story so far…
In the world of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, players enter the kingdom of Ding Dong Dell, where cats, mice, and humans once lived in harmony. After a treacherous coup, Evan, the young boy king of Ding Dong Dell is banished from his kingdom. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom recounts the story of this deposed king and his journey to build his own kingdom and unite the entire world.
Supporting Evan on his adventure are friends Roland, Tani, and beings known as Higgledies who come from the power of the hearts found within people, animals, and elements such as fire and wind. Only individuals with pure hearts can see the Higgledies. The Higgledies will aid Evan throughout his journey, helping him in battles, and letting him reach places he wouldn’t otherwise be able to access. Join Evan on his quest as he fights powerful monsters, face perilous dungeons, and rises to once again become a King!
In addition to a wide and expansive world, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will also include lush animation overseen by former Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose. You can get a look at the artwork behind the RPG in a brand new set of screenshots that are available after the break. (more…)

It’s Batman versus Robin in the latest Injustice 2 trailer
It’s hard to have a normal childhood when your mother is an immortal assassin and your father is The Dark Knight. So while Damian Wayne has caught some bad breaks, he’s also Robin, and he’s all set to join NetherRealm’s Injustice 2 as a brand new playable character.
Using the ninja skills he learned from his father and the sword his mother gave him, Damian is a formidable opponent in the latest trailer for Injustice 2. Batman even tries to impart his “No Killing” code on his son, but unfortunately, things don’t turn out well for the Caped Crusader.
NetherRealm is currently testing Injustice 2 with a Closed Beta, so keep an eye on your inbox for an invite. For the rest of us, the fighting game will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.

Resident Evil 7, Yakuza 0, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8, more added to PS Store
It’s a big week for the PlayStation Store as developers and publishers plan to add more than a dozen new games to the digital storefront this week…
Let’s start things off with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the latest game in Capcom’s long-running zombie saga. Resident Evil 7 promises to switch things up on the PS4 and many of the franchise’s most familiar characters won’t make an appearance in the game. However, there is a deranged family of cannibals to deal with, and full PlayStation VR support for the first-person horror title.
PS4 owners interested in a different sort of wild ride might want to look into Yakuza 0, which will travel back to the beginnings of Sega’s gangland tale. Players will learn all about how Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima got their start in the Yakuza, and they’ll experience the “unbridled decadence” of Tokyo in the 1980s.
Also available this week is a trio of RPGs that will most likely offer more uplifting stories. Square Enix has remade Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (previously a 3DS exclusive) for the PS4 as Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue. Bandai Namco will expand the Tales series with the pirate-themed PS4 adventure Tales of Berseria. And Snowcastle Games will bring their retro-inspired RPG, Earthlock: Festival of Magic, to the PS4 later this week.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)

In addition to outfitting your favorite characters in new gear, from now until February 13, Overwatch players will also be able to compete in a brand new game mode… Capture the Rooster.
In Capture the Rooster, teams will face off on Lijiang Tower, attempting to secure the enemy flag while the opposing team does the same. In this fast-paced brawl, players will need to get creative with their team compositions as they attempt to construct a lineup that’s built for offensive speed and defensive stability.
More information about the “Year of the Rooster” event can be uncovered at Overwatch’s official website or by watching the trailer above. You can also hear Game Director Jeff Kaplan’s thoughts on Capture the Rooster in the latest Overwatch Developer Update, which is available after the break. (more…)
