Guerrilla Games exits Killzone to work on original project
Guerrilla Games has confirmed that Killzone: Shadow Fall will be their last contribution to the franchise for the foreseeable future. Speaking to Eurogamer, Lead Designer Eric Boltjes revealed that the developer is ready to move on to something new and original.
“As a studio we do want to branch out, and we have started work on a new IP, something completely different to Killzone. I don’t want to say anything about it right now, but as a studio we do want to keep it fresh,” Boltjes said.
Killzone: Shadow Fall will be available on November 15 as part of the PlayStation 4’s launch lineup, but obviously, Boltjes kept any details about Guerrilla’s next project to himself during his discussion with Eurogamer.
Precursor puts Shadow of the Eternals on hold

It looks like the dream of a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness is dead. Or, at the very least, in a very deep sleep.
Precursor’s Denis Dyack has announced, via the company’s Official Forums, that Shadow of the Eternals has been put “on hold.” Most of the team will be taking a break, though the forums will remain in place for those who want to talk about a game that will likely never come out. Though that might not be fair as Dyack also said: “Is the project dead? No, but we feel it needs a rest too. We have all agreed as a group that when and if the time is right we will get together and start it up again.”
But after two failed Kickstarter campaigns, I’m not sure it’ll be that easy.

Ubisoft has released Just Dance 2014’s full tracklist

Ubisoft has released the complete tracklist for Just Dance 2014 and it includes all the songs the kids are into these days like Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters,” Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime,” and The Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.”
OK, the kids today are probably more interested in Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause.” But points to Ubisoft for including a few tracks that people over 21 can appreciate.
You can dance the night away with Just Dance 2014 when it’s released for the PS3, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360 on October 8. A next-generation edition for the PS4 and Xbox One will follow in November.
And you can view the full 45-song soundtrack after the break. (more…)
Deep Down will be Free-To-Play with an open beta available in early 2014

Capcom’s Deep Down is like an enigma that just keeps getting enigma-ier. OK, that’s not a word. But the game’s development has taken a ton of twists and turns since it was revealed earlier this year.
First, we thought it would turn out to be multiplatform. Nope. Deep Down is a PS4 exclusive. Then, we thought it was a medieval dragon-fighting epic. Nope. Turns out the whole thing takes place in New York City about 80 years into the future. Now, Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios division, has tweeted that Deep Down will be released as a free-to-play title:
Capcom just announced that "deep down" will be a f2p game on PS4, planning open Beta near the launch of PS4 in Japan. @Yoshi_OnoChin
— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) September 21, 2013
When you stop and think about it, it actually makes a weird kind of sense. From what we’ve seen of the game so far, players in Deep Down start in some futuristic hub level and then descend into the demon-infested dungeons below. Selling some of the dungeons to players piecemeal while keeping a small selection of them free could work. If nothing else, it’s very similar to how Microsoft is handling Killer Instinct.
The PS4 is scheduled to launch in Japan on February 22, 2014. Hopefully the open beta will be available internationally so we can all find out how it works together.
Transistor PAX Prime 2013 Impressions: The Impossible Elegance of Supergiant Games

Any fan of the hit indie game Bastion already knows the name Supergiant Games, and is probably already following their latest work of art, Transistor. In fact, Warp Zoned’s very own John Scalzo played Transistor at PAX East, and he had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. I played it at PAX Prime, after the game had been announced for the PlayStation 4, and I was ecstatic at the gameplay (and at getting my hands on a DualShock 4). I loved Transistor so much that I went straight home from Seattle and immediately began playing Bastion, from start to finish, over the course of three days. All it did was make me wish it was 2014 already so I could play the rest of Transistor. (more…)

NBA Live 14 will be released for PS4, Xbox One on November 19
After a multi-year hiatus that included an aborted rebranding and the cancellation of two different games, the NBA Live series will finally return this Fall with the release of NBA Live 14. Yesterday, EA Sports revealed (via their Twitter account) that the game will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One on November 19. So it’ll be available in stores three days ahead of the Xbox One launch, but four days after the release of Sony’s PS4.
EA Sports also released the first official in-game screenshot for NBA Live 14, which you can see to your right. Be sure and click the image to get a closer look at the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard shooting over NBA Live 14 cover boy Kyrie Irving.

The Evil Within terrifies the Tokyo Game Show with a new trailer
Shinji Mikami, “The Father of the Survival Horror Game,” is hard at work on his next gore-riffic game, The Evil Within. Part of that work includes plans to showcase the game at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. But for those that can’t make the trip across the Pacific, Bethesda has released a new story/gameplay trailer for the title. Be sure and check it out above, but you might want to leave the lights on.
The Evil Within will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One sometime next year.
Mighty No. 9 reaches PS3/Xbox 360/Wii U stretch goal

The Kickstarter campaign for Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 has reached a huge funding milestone. Shortly before midnight, the total pledged amount crossed $2.2 million, ensuring that the spiritual successor to Mega Man will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. The console editions of Mighty No. 9 join the previously confirmed PC version (which also includes Mac and Linux options) and all versions of the game are expected to be completed by Spring 2015.
There’s still two weeks remaining before Mighty No. 9’s Kickstarter campaign is closed to new pledges. That leaves plenty of time to cross the PS4/Xbox One threshold, which is currently set at $3.3 million.
