Generation of Chaos 6 to be released in US in February
NIS America is always up to something… or several somethings. On top of bringing Hyperdimension Neputunia V to America, they’ve also just announced they’ll be bringing Generation of Chaos 6 for the PSP as well. In America, the game will be retitled Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection.
Here’s the story thus far:
Dark clouds blanket the withered skies and block out the sun; cracked earth and choking fog rule the land. This colorless world, showing no signs of life, is known as Hades. The barren land is blasted by chilling winds that cut to the bone… This is where we meet our heroes—Yuri, a young girl cursed with a disease draining her life away; and Claude, her protective older brother who will stop at nothing to save her. As they travel in search of a cure, they find themselves embroiled in a conflict that will determine the fate of the world and, just maybe, the fate of the siblings. They’ll lose old friends, meet new friends, and travel on a path that will lead them to the very doorstep of destiny…
The real-time strategy of the battle system will allow you to set up your battlefield with your units to take over key locations – you know, all the RTS fun you’re used to. As you defeat enemies, you gain Alchemy Points, which can be spent on upgrades for your characters and weapons.
Look for Generation of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection on the PlayStation Network in February 2013.

Sony adds 17 games to PS Store including Counter-Strike GO, Dust 514 beta, more

Yesterday’s PlayStation Store update marked the final week of Sony’s PSN Play promotion. As promised, the publisher added Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to their download service. But they also added a few other games as well. Exactly how many did they add? How does 17 sound? Oh, and a closed beta too.
Ready? Here goes…
Two PS3 Full Games (Michael Jackson: The Experience and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron)… Nine PSN Games (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Way of the Samurai 4, Metal Gear Solid 2 HD, Metal Gear Solid 3 HD, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD, Deep Black, Retro/Grade, Crazy Strike Bowling, and Legasista)… Two PS Vita Games (Metal Gear Solid 2 HD and Metal Gear Solid 3 HD)… One PS2 Classic (GunGrave Overdose)… and Three PS Minis (Top Trumps NBA All Stars, Chopper I, and The Next Space).
And that’s not counting the launch of the Dust 514 closed beta, which began yesterday for PlayStation Plus members.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break. Or you can visit the PlayStation Blog for a rundown of this week’s new game add-ons. (more…)

Hey there, friends! It’s a beautiful day here in Philadelphia. It’s not supposed to rain, or so I’ve been told, so here’s hoping it doesn’t. But it is supposed to rain tomorrow, when the geeks take over the Academy of Natural Sciences for the Philly Geek Awards. It rained last year, so maybe that’s the theme, or something! Who knows. Either way, rained-on geeks are still happy geeks!

NCAA Football 13 is the bestselling game of July 2012
The NPD Group has released their list of the ten bestselling games of July 2012 and, surprising no one, NCAA Football 13 took the top spot.
The football sim was the only new release from the month of July to crack the top ten, but to be fair, there weren’t very many games released last month. Instead, the top ten is populated by holdovers like Lego Batman 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, and two Call of Duty games (Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3). According to Joystiq, this motley crew could only manage sales of $260.7 million, a 23% drop from July 2011’s take of $338.5 million.
The full top ten is available after the break. (more…)

Jay-Z named Executive Producer of NBA 2K13; soundtrack announced
2K Sports has announced that Jay-Z, the biggest name in rap and a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets, will serve as the Executive Producer of NBA 2K13. It would be easy to dismiss this partnership as nothing more than a simple soundtrack gig. But, according to 2K, “Jay-Z’s artistic vision and style will permeate the [entire] experience.” This will include “the overall look and feel of the game” as well as interactive in-game menus, and yes, the soundtrack.
NBA 2K13’s soundtrack will include 24 tracks hand-picked by Jay-Z. The collection includes multiple tracks from the man himself as well as his frequent collaborator, Kanye West. Coldplay, Daft Punk, The Dirty Projectors, Nas, Phoenix, Santigold, and many others also made the cut.
You can check out the complete soundtrack listing after the break or you can head over to 2K’s Facebook page to preview some of tracks. (more…)
New Releases: Kingdom Hearts 3D, Risen 2, Growlanser IV, More

We’re turning the calendar over to August this week, but that’s not going to put a stop to the Summer games drought. Although this week is a bit more loaded than recent weeks.
A big part of that is the release of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for the 3DS. Dream Drop Distance is the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series for the handheld and Square Enix picked a perfect time to bring it across the Pacific.
Another anticipated RPG makes its way to stores this week. Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time, from Atlus, is a strategy RPG for the PSP that was originally released on the PS2 (as Growlanser IV) in 2003. However, that version of the game never escaped Japan, so Wayfarer of Time is technically a “new” game.
Also available this week is the console version of Risen 2: Dark Waters. The pirate-themed RPG will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Finally, Myst comes to the 3DS with “a brand new age” and PC players will be able to try their hand at the budget minigame collection Nightmares From the Deep: The Cursed Heart.
