Dante, Sackboy, Spike, Ratchet & Clank added to PlayStation All-Stars
News of Sony’s Smash Bros.-like PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale turned from a trickle into a pour over the weekend, as the company announced four new fighters at Germany’s Gamescom. Alongside previously announced combatants such as Kratos and Big Daddy, Sony revealed that Dante (from the Devil May Cry series), Spike (from Ape Escape), LittleBigPlanet‘s Sackboy, and the deadly double duo of Ratchet & Clank will be joining the fight.
If that were not enough to make even the staunchest critic salivate, a new stage was shown based on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Labeled “Stowaway,” it takes place on the airplane Nathan hid in and ultimately crashed into the Arabian Desert. Players will not only have to contend with other fighters, but the constantly changing, shifting level as items come flying out of the plane.
I don’t know about you, reader, but I cannot wait to pummel Kratos with Sackboy. So what do you think? Is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale going to be a Super Smash Bros Clone? Or is it going to be something special in its own right?

Sony launches PS3/Vita “Cross Buy” program
Earlier this month, Sony released Sound Shapes on the PlayStation Network as a special PS3/Vita bundle. During their Gamescom presentation in Cologne, Germany this week, the publisher revealed that they’ll be expanding the program to retail releases this Fall.
This new bundling scheme will be known as the “Cross Buy” program, and starting this Fall, any gamer who purchases a “Cross Buy” PS3 title at retail will receive a voucher for a free downloadable copy of the Vita version. The first wave of “Cross Buy” titles will include PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale (due out November 20), Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (due out sometime this Fall and known as Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force in Europe), and Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time (due out in 2013).
While the “Cross Buy” program is currently limited to Sony-published titles, the company is actively courting third party publishers to commit to it as well.
“We’ll obviously encourage third-parties to adopt it but ultimately whether or not a game includes Cross Buy is a publishing decision and it will be at the third parties’ discretion whether or not they want to go down that route,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
First Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified trailer released
It’s time for PlayStation Vita owners to get excited: Call of Duty is coming for you. Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, a Vita exclusive, is set to bridge the gap between the stories of Call of Duty: Black Ops (there was a story there?) and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It’s got “familiar elements like Create-a-Class, Perks, Prestige Levels, and of course, dual analog stick controls,” according to the PlayStation Blog.
It wouldn’t be a CoD game without multiplayer: Declassified’s “multiplayer game modes include 4v4 Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, and Drop Zone,” according to Neven Dravinski, the game’s producer at Activision, who says there will also be other modes.
Not only that, there’s also some touchscreen integration as well. You’ll be able to make melee attacks and throw grenades using the touchscreen, as well as use Near technology to share your loadouts with other players.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is due out this November. If you haven’t picked up your Vita yet, you might want to start saving up for one.

LittleBigPlanet creator announces Tearaway
Media Molecule is at it again! They’ve been working on an amazing PlayStation Vita game, Tearaway, in which you play as a character named Iota living in a whimsical paper world. He’s on a mission to deliver a special message to you, the player. In fact, his cute little head is an envelope! There’s a stamp and everything. Check out the announcement trailer above for all the cuteness, as well as MM’s uncanny ability to choose the perfect music for all of their videos, ever.
You’re basically a god to this paper world – you can “poke” your fingers up through the back of the Vita to fight enemies and solve puzzles. You can also blow into the microphone to cause gusts of wind, or shout into it to make Iota give a mighty roar. You can even take pictures of stuff in your real life environment to make skins for creatures in the game. Oh, and you can make that elk in real life, too. Just download this papercraft model!
For more information on this cute and quirky game, check out the PlayStation Blog, go to the game’s official site, and/or like it on Facebook.

Daily Scoop: August 15, 2012 – Playkachu
Well, yesterday was a wonderful day! I got to play three board games I’d never played before last night – Race for the Galaxy, Blood Bowl Team Manager, and Heap. They were all pretty fun! I had a blast. My lovely boyfriend is taking me out to dinner sometime this week to celebrate our anniversary as well. I don’t mind celebrations that last a week long, for sure!
What’s up with deals today? Well, just one, and it’s really for those of you who have been waiting on a deal with the PlayStation Vita. It’s not a price drop on the Vita, but it’s enticing. It’s at Amazon, and it’s a deal to buy a PS Vita, get Mortal Kombat and a 4GB memory card free. Not too shabby! Though a price drop would be pretty nice…
Two t-shirts today, one that’s just ok and one I want to buy immediately! (more…)

Killzone: Mercenary coming to Vita in 2013
Sony has released the first trailer for their upcoming PlayStation Vita title Killzone: Mercenary. The FPS has been designed specifically for the Vita’s graphical capabilities and unique additional touchpad controls to offer a new take on the Killzone franchise. For the first time players will be able to fight alongside the Helghast as well as the ISA as they take on mercenary contracts during the brutal war between the two sides. The game will allow plays more customisation than previous games as they select weapons ideal for a specific job.
No word yet on how it fits in within the Killzone timeline, especially given the explosive ending of Killzone 3. I guess we will just have to wait until 2013 to find out in this new chapter.

PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale pushed back to November

It looks like we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get our hands on Sony’s PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale. Thankfully, it’s only been pushed back a single month and will launch on November 20 instead of the game’s original release date of October 23.
Chan Park, the President of developer SuperBot Entertainment, said that his team needed a bit more time to polish the game. He also confirmed that they’re taking feedback from the recent beta and incorporating some of those suggestions into the final fame:
This [delay] will let us spend more time polishing and tuning the game, and it will give us a chance to incorporate some of the great feedback we’re receiving from the current limited beta to ensure we are creating the best possible fighting game experience. While it is our greatest desire to put this game into the hands of our fans as soon as possible, we do not want to do so at the sake of quality. The additional time will be well worth the wait, and are excited to know that our fans will have the ultimate brawler in time for the holiday.

Jet Set Radio HD tagged with a September release date
Yesterday, Sega tagged every version of their high definition remake of Jet Set Radio with a release date and a very nice price. Ready? Here we go…
If you’re interested in purchasing the game from the PlayStation Network, it’ll be available to download on September 18. However, if you’re a PlayStation Plus member, you’ll receive early access to Jet Set Radio on September 11. Either way, the game will set you back $9.99.
PC and Xbox 360 owners will be able to download the game through Steam and the Xbox Live Arcade, respectively, on September 19. Once again, whichever version you choose will be priced at $9.99 (well, it’ll be listed as 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360).
Finally, the Vita version will be downloadable from the PSN on October 16, and it too will carry a 9.99 pricetag.
Not bad Sega, not bad. Now where’d I leave my roller blades?
