Nintendo Download: Stretchmo, New Super Mario Bros., Attack on Titan 3DS, more

It’s Thursday, so that means it’s time for another edition of the Nintendo Download. Eight new games will call the Nintendo eShop home this week. Some of this week’s new releases include…
- The first game in Nintendo’s side-scrolling New Super Mario Bros. series makes the leap from the DS to the Wii U.
- Capcom continues their Mega May promotion with the launch of Mega Man Battle Network 3: Blue/White, which was originally released for the Game Boy Advance, on the Wii U eShop.
- The first game based on the popular Attack on Titan anime, Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains, has been added to the 3DS eShop.
- Stretchmo is the latest game in Nintendo’s Pushmo series of puzzlers. Available now on the 3DS, players have the option to play a free-to-play version limited to the first seven levels or they can purchase additional level packs individually or as a bundle.
More information on all these titles (and four others) can be found after the break. (more…)

Lego Jurassic World will launch on June 12 with more than 20 playable dinosaurs
Eventually you do plan to have dinosaurs in your, in your dinosaur game, right?
Oh, umm, never mind, Lego Jurassic World will actually feature more than 20 playable dinosaurs and they’re all right here in this new trailer. In addition to this new look at the game’s adorable (and deadly) beasts, WB Games and TT Games have also announced it’ll be available in stores for the 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on June 12.
Players who plan to purchase Lego Jurassic World from select retailers will also receive a little bonus packed in with the game. These select retailers include GameStop (Lego Dino Trap Mini Playset), Target (Dr. Wu Minifigure), and Walmart ($10 Movie Cash Certificate).
The latest Jurassic Park film, Jurassic World, will also open on June 12, so that Movie Cash Certificate might come in handy.
Splatoon Global Testfire Impressions: Painting the Town Red… or Green… or Purple

I have to admit, I didn’t pay much attention to Splatoon when it was first announced. It’s not that the game looked bad, it’s just that the competitive gamer in me went into hibernation a while back. I understood the concept of the game, and I thought it looked great, but there was nothing that really drew me in. Not even the thought of adding more Amiibo figuress to my ever-growing collection was enough to warrant a second look. But after having an opportunity to play Splatoon during Nintendo’s open beta this past weekend, I must say it has my attention now. (more…)
These 24 songs will be featured in Guitar Hero Live

Guitar Hero Live will do battle with Rock Band 4 for the hearts and minds of plastic instrument virtuosos this Fall. However, before that we’ll have to deal with the inevitable series of announcements to reveal each game’s soundtrack. And Activision is first out of the gate with a list of 24 tunes that’ll be playable in Guitar Hero Live.
The publisher plans to announce new songs every Tuesday, but for now, here’s what we’ll definitely be rocking along with in Guitar Hero Live this Fall:
- Alt-J – “Left Hand Free”
- Alter Bridge – “Cry of Achilles”
- The Black Keys – “Gold On The Ceiling”
- Black Veil Brides – “In The End”
- Blitz Kids – “Sometimes”
- Broken Bells – “Leave It Alone”
- Gary Clark Jr. – “Don’t Owe You a Thang”
- Fall Out Boy – “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)” by
- Green Day – “Nuclear Family”
- Judas Priest – “Breaking the Law”
- The Killers – “When You Were Young”
- The Lumineers – “Ho Hey”
- My Chemical Romance – “Na Na Na”
- Pantera – “Cowboys from Hell”
- Pierce the Veil (featuring Kellin Quinn) – “King for a Day”
- The Pretty Reckless – “Going to Hell”
- Rage Against the Machine – “Guerrilla Radio”
- Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Higher Ground”
- The Rolling Stones – “Paint it Black”
- Ed Sheeran – “Sing”
- Skrillex – “Bangarang”
- Sleigh Bells – “Bitter Rivals”
- System of a Down – “Chop Suey!”
- The War on Drugs – “Under the Pressure”
Guitar Hero Live will be released for the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One this Fall. Prepare yourself for many more of these musical memos in the weeks to come.
Check out this 60-minute video from Nintendo’s Splatoon Global Testfire
In case you missed it, Nintendo held the Splatoon Global Testfire, their first-ever beta test, this weekend. By all accounts, the test was a huge success with Wii U owners getting three chances to jump into an hour-long test session with the and other players from around the world.
The Nintendo Treehouse crew also took control of a team of Inklings during the test and gave players a guided tour of the game’s Turf War mode. So get your Splattershot, Splattershot Jr., Paint Roller, and Charge Shot ready for over 60 minutes of colorful chaos.
Splatoon will be available exclusively for the Wii U on May 29.
Lego Dimensions will get Portal, Simpsons, Doctor Who expansions

Your wallet probably winced at the Lego Dimensions Starter Pack’s $99.99 price tag. But WB Games and The Lego Group are also planning to release dozens of Level Packs, Team Packs, and Fun Packs featuring some truly unexpected characters. Even though it’ll put a pain in your pocketbook, prepare those “Shut Up and Take My Money” images now…
Kotaku discovered a catalog on Lego’s official website detailing some of the upcoming expansions to Lego Dimensions including a Portal 2 set, a Simpsons set, and a Doctor Who set. Those three properties, along with a Back to the Future set, will be turned into Level Packs, in-game expansions that also include a variety of mini-figures and vehicles. And yes, players who buy the Portal set will get Lego Chell and a Lego Companion Cube figures.
Other packs featured in the catalog were a Scooby-Doo Team Pack (Shaggy, Scooby, a tower of food, and the Mystery Machine), a Juassic World Team Pack (which includes a Lego Tyrannosaurus Rex), three Lord of the Rings Fun Packs, three Lego Ninjago Fun Packs, three Lego Chima Fun Packs, a Simpsons Fun Pack (featuring Krusty the Clown), a Wicked Witch/Flying Monkey Fun Pack, and a Lego Movie Fun Pack (with Unikitty).
The inclusion of Portal, Simpsons, and Doctor Who sets says to me that WB Games is definitely going all in with the crossover craziness of the Lego Dimensions concept. Seriously now, who expected Portal? But this catalog barely scratches the surface on the insane number of add-on sets that’ll be available this Fall when the game launches for the PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 27. So who knows what other Lego universes we’ll get to visit?
Nintendo will host a Splatoon open beta tonight and tomorrow
Nintendo’s newest Splatoon commercial is so sugary sweet that I wouldn’t be surprised if it sends a few viewers into shock. But the whole thing is also so aggressively adorable that you can’t help but giggle in appreciation. Splatoon is being positioned as the anti-Call of Duty and Nintendo is clearly having a ball with how ridiculous it is.
If you wanted to test out Splatoon before its May 29 launch, you’re in luck. Nintendo has announced plans to hold an open beta test (excuse me, a “Global Testfire”) for Splatoon tomorrow. Players can download the demo version now and join one or all of the three demo tests scheduled for tonight and tomorrow:
- Friday, May 8: 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)
- Saturday, May 9: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM (Eastern Time)
- Saturday, May 9: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Eastern Time)
Nintendo also announced that Splatoon will receive a variety of post-launch content all Summer long including new Turf War stages, weapons, battle modes, and gear. These updates will be supplemented by community events known as Splatfests. During a Splatfest, Splatoon players will join a side (For example, do you prefer cats or dogs?) and then blast the other side in online matchups. The first Splatfest will be held on June 20.
Once again, Splatoon will be available in stores exclusively for the Wii U on May 29.
Nintendo Download: SMT Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, Mega Man & Bass, more

It’s games we’ve seen before and games that look like games we’ve seen before on today’s Nintendo Download.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker is a 3DS remake of the handheld RPG, which was originally released for the DS in 2012. The remake will include a brand new scenario, “Triangulum Arc,” as well as enhanced graphics and new downloadable content.
Also available this week is Mega Man & Bass, the first offering from Capcom as part of their Mega May promotion. Originally released only in Japan for the Super NES, Mega Man & Bass is the ninth entry in the original series. It came to America for the first time in 2003 on the Game Boy Advance, and now that version is available to download through the Wii U eShop.
Finally this week, High Strangeness is available on the Wii U eShop. High Strangeness was the first game project to ever reach its funding goal on Kickstarter and is also billed as the world’s first “12-bit” title. The action RPG is “a deftly blended hybrid of 8 and 16-bit games,” that also includes a talking cat.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)
