MLB developing R.B.I. Baseball 14 for Spring release

rbibaseball14-logoThe R.B.I. Baseball series is stepping back onto the field for the first time in almost 20 years!

Major League Baseball announced that its MLB Advanced Media team is hard at work on R.B.I. Baseball 14 and will release the game across “current and next generation consoles and smartphones and tablets” this Spring. If you’ve never heard of MLBAM, there’s a reason for that, R.B.I. Baseball 14 will be the team’s first game development effort. Their previous duty was managing and developing Major League Baseball’s web presence including MLB.com and the websites for all 30 MLB teams.

Little else is known about R.B.I. Baseball 14 as a mostly empty teaser website is all we really have to go on. But with Spring right around the corner (and only 22 days left until Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training), we should learn more soon.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes Review: Amazing, Spectacular, and Fantastic

legomarvelsuperheroes-header

I’m normally not one to get into the Lego games. I played Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Lord of the Rings, but I usually found myself moving on to other games after a few hours of play. But not so with Lego Marvel Super Heroes. I’ve been playing this game nonstop, without touching any of my other PS4 titles. It’s that much fun. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a huge Marvel fan or if I have a serious case of OCD, but I’ve put over sixty hours into this title – and I’m still only at 85% complete. And most importantly, it has kept my interest the entire time. (more…)

Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC Pack to be available on XBL Store on January 28

Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that the first map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Onslaught, will be available to download from the Xbox Live Store (for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One) on January 28.

The coolest map is clearly “Fog,” a love letter to the horror films of yesteryear. Players will even be able to become Halloween‘s Michael Myers and deliver the killing blow with a bloody axe. Players will also be able to frag their friends in the California boardwalk of “BayView,” the war-torn Mexican village of “Containment,” and the aging Florida space launch facility of “Ignition.”

Onslaught will also include a new weapon, a dual-purpose Assault Rifle/Sniper Rifle known as the Maverick, and “Nightfall,” a new chapter in humans vs aliens Extinction saga. In “Nightfall,” players will guide a small strike team to a snowy Alaskan base in search of the origins of the alien invasion (and to battle the biggest boss Infinity Ward has ever created).

Once again, Onslaught will be available to download through the Xbox Live Store on January 28 with a release on other platforms to follow. The DLC pack has been priced at $14.99 individually and will also be included as part of the $49.99 Season Pass.

More details about all of Onslaught’s maps can be found after the break. (more…)

2K Games will not produce Major League Baseball 2K14

majorleaguebaseball2k13-boxIn a move that’s just as heartbreaking as the strike of 1994, 2K Games has confirmed they will no longer continue their MLB 2K line of games. Furthermore, all online outposts for the series are gone… the Facebook page has been taken down, and the 2K website features no mention of the series (though the actual webpages remain, for now). The games have also been pulled from Steam and the Xbox Games Store.

2K told Polygon earlier today that they chose not to renew their license to produce games with Major League Baseball:

“We have decided not to renew our MLB 2K series for 2014. We are very proud of the achievements made by the MLB 2K team and look forward to their contributions to our future titles, including NBA 2K — our industry’s #1 rated and #1 selling basketball franchise.”

Without Major League Baseball 2K14, this leaves Xbox and Wii U gamers with no baseball title for 2014. As well as any PlayStation owners looknig for an alternative to Sony’s MLB 14: The Show, which is is set to be the only major player this season.

The Walking Dead Season 2: All That Remains Review: Keeping That Hair Short

walkingdead-season2-header

Please Be Advised… This review contains spoilers from Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 1.

When it was released nearly eighteen months ago, the first season of The Walking Dead was met with near-unanimous acclaim. Critics praised the game’s gripping story, deep characters, and heart-wrenching choices. The first season won several Game of the Year awards – deservedly so – and changed the way we look at narrative-driven video games. It even made Warp Zoned’s Apocalypse List for 2012. Having recently finished the first season in a matter of a few days, I can certainly agree with these sentiments. Never before have I been this emotionally involved in a game, and when characters I had grown attached to died, it hit me hard. Lee’s death was just as traumatic to me as it was to Clem, but we both knew we had to move on.

And here we are again, continuing our ride through Hell on Earth, hoping that one day we can find someplace safe, someplace secure. Someplace like home. It’s that hope that keeps us moving, keeps us alive. But after playing the first ten minutes of All That Remains, that hope was completely shattered, and I thought to myself, this is going to be quite the bumpy ride. (more…)
