Hell yeah! Sega has announced a release date for Hell Yeah!

Publisher Sega and developer Arkedo have finally announced a released for their downloadable game starring starring the Prince of Hell in a quest for vengeance. Oh, did I mention that the Prince of Hell also happens to be an undead rabbit with a mean streak and a giant drill-cycle? Because he is and he does.

Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit‘s release schedule will roll through the end of next month on three different dates. The PlayStation Network version will be available on September 25. The Xbox Live Arcade version will be released a day later on September 26. And the PC download will arrive a week after that on October 3. All three versions have been priced at $14.99.

If an undead rabbit sounds too family friendly for your tastes, take a look at the “Pimp It Up” trailer above to disabuse yourself of that notion.

Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad Review: Creating Dust Storm Warnings

Jeremy McGrath is no stranger to video games, having starred in a series of motocross titles in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Over a decade later, his name has resurfaced with Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad. However, rather than taking place on two wheels, this game places you in rally cars, trophy trucks, and buggies – it’s more akin to Dirt than anything bearing McGrath’s name in the past. Developed by Rainbow Studios spinoff 2XL Games, this $10 downloadable title delivers a racing experience you don’t see much of these days – straight up off-road racing. (more…)

Daily Scoop: August 9, 2012 – Get those guides edition

Today is my Friday! Woohoo! Take that, Thursday. And to top it off, I’ve actually got a pretty decent deal to share with you!

The weekly ad at GameStop has some deals, including a deal to get a free guide with select games. The games are Dark Souls, Max Payne 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, and Soul Calibur V. That’s a great selection of games with free guides, especially Dark Souls. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to have your spirit completely crushed, I would say this is as good a time as any.

Grid 2 skids into stores in 2013

Codemasters has announced Grid 2, sequel to 2008’s Race Driver: Grid. It’s now in full development after two years of pre-production, and will have an “expansive” career mode.

Clive Moody, Executive Producer, said, “Grid’s back and we’re going to make street, track and road racing exciting again. The core design philosophy for Grid 2 is that we treat the race as a character, not a consequence of simply putting cars on tracks. Everything that goes into the game impacts on that second-to-second, in the moment, blockbuster drama – the feel and personality of the race. We’re pushing boundaries once again with what can be accomplished in the genre via new tools, technology and innovations. In single-player, split-screen and online, the next-generation of the EGO Game Technology Platform will power graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements that will immerse players in the racing experience like never before. Like its predecessor, Grid 2 will put the sheer thrill and adrenaline rush of the race at the heart of the experience. It’s what we call Total Race Day Immersion.”

That’s a mouthful. Grid 2 will be out in the summer of 2013 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

XBLA Today: Hybrid

Developer 5th Cell has (temporarily) left the kid-friendly Scribblenauts series behind to delve into the frantic multiplayer action of Hybrid, their Xbox Live Arcade-exclusive shooter.

The game, which has been priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), is the fourth title in this year’s Summer of Arcade promotion. Also of note, in addition to the purchase price, Hybrid requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription to take part in the fight:

Hybrid is a multiplayer third person shooter in which two factions fight for world domination on a persistent world map. Take control of a soldier fighting for the Paladins or the Variants as they race to control the world’s most powerful resource; Dark Matter. Your victories on the battlefield directly affect the course of the war!

Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends Review: Encyclopedia Ferrarica

The last time we saw Atari’s Test Drive franchise, it was racing through the streets of Ibiza in Test Drive Unlimited 2. Since then, TDU developer Eden Games has run into some troubles, and the franchise as a whole seemed to be on the ropes. However, 2012 has brought us a very different use of the brand, with Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends. Developed by Slightly Mad Studios – the brains behind the short-lived Need For Speed: Shift franchise – this installment drops the open-world motif for a more traditional and narrowly focused racing experience, showcasing the lengthy history of one of the most exotic automobile manufacturers in the world.
