XBLA Today: All Zombies Must Die!
The final addition to the Xbox Live Arcade this year is All Zombies Must Die!, a twin-stick shooter from Square Enix and Doublesix that looks remarkably similar to the genre classic Zombies Ate My Neighbors.
For 800 Microsoft Points ($10), you can find out how similar they are for yourself. Square Enix is practically daring you:
Go on! Do it! Spend those points! Hurry up!: time is of the essence. Someone has to take care of all those zombies and who better to do that than a gifted gamer like yourself! Think – in a short while – you could be blasting your way through ranks of brain-hungry monsters, making bizarre weapons and completing crazy quests. All that could be yours if you just buy the game! Remember, All Zombies Must Die! We need you!

NFL Blitz coming to XBLA on January 4
Microsoft’s Major Nelson has revealed that EA Sports’ revamped and rebooted NFL Blitz will be available to download from the Xbox Live Arcade on January 4. As expected, it has been given a price of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). If history is any guide, the game should be available on the PlayStation Network on January 3, but right now only the XBLA release date is official.
Major Nelson has also supplied us with a septet of new additions to the Games on Demand service. Four of the games were released today while the remaining three will be available next week:
December 27
Child of Eden
Resonance of Fate
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Wipeout: In the Zone
January 3
Backbreaker
Naughty Bear
Super Street Fighter IV
First Modern Warfare 3 DLC coming January 24
To your left, you’ll find a screenshot from “Park” (click to enlarge), a Central Park-themed map that’ll be included in the first round of DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. According to Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert Bowling, the DLC pack containing “Park” will be available for Xbox 360-owning Call of Duty Elite users on January 24.
But here’s where things get interesting. Activision signed an agreement with Microsoft to release all Call of Duty DLC on the Xbox 360 first. But, the publisher has also promised all Call of Duty Elite subscribers that they will receive DLC before the general public. As those two statements can’t be easily reconciled, somebody (probably PS3-owning Elite subscribers) is going to get screwed.
PC and PS3 gamers had to wait a month after the maps were made available to Xbox 360 owners to play Black Ops DLC. Who knows what a staggered release schedule with five separate groups will look like?
We’ll have to wait until 2012 to find out more, as Activision confirmed that more information on “Park” and the rest of the DLC pack will be released next year.

Game of Thrones RPG gets a new website, snowy trailer
The new Game of Thrones RPG for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 is actually looking pretty promising. The new trailer, titled “The Wall,” shows some of what you’ll be up against in a Westeros we aren’t exactly familiar with.
They’ve also got a shiny new website, and I’m digging that they’re using the music from the show. It’s shaping up to be an interesting amalgam of the book and the show. Also, if they get enough “Likes” on their Facebook page, they’ll open up more areas to explore on the site. So start unlocking! It’s a long way to early 2012… oh wait, no it’s not. Oh well. Unlock anyway! I’m impatient.

XBLA Today: Trine 2

The puzzle platformer Trine 2 is now available on the Xbox Live Arcade from publisher Atlus and developer Frozenbyte. The multiplayer adventure has been priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), which is a pretty good deal for the sequel to one of the best-reviewed games of 2009.
More on Trine 2 can be found right here:
Experience a world of stunning beauty, potent magic, and perilous adventure… one in which you may travel alone or with friends. Play as the powerful knight, the swift rogue, and the crafty wizard in this physics-based, action-platformer with 3-player local and online multiplayer. Make the most of each character’s unique skills and tools to find your way through each puzzling stage of this breathtakingly beautiful adventure. Brought together by chance and bound by a powerful ancient magic, a knight, a thief, and a wizard must now work together to undo the spell cast upon them and defeat an undead army threatening the kingdom. Each is uniquely specialized; the knight is master of strength and steel, his mighty sword capable of felling any foe. The thief is fast and dextrous, highly proficient with bow and arrow. The wizard dominates his surroundings, manipulating the environment around him. Together, there is no enemy or obstacle that can stand in their way.
Gears of War 3 “Fenix Rising” map pack announced

Hot on the heels of the release of “RAAM’s Shadow,” Microsoft has announced the next Gears of War 3 expansion will be available on January 17. Titled “Fenix Rising” and priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10), the DLC pack will include five new maps, four new character skins, and new “Re-Up” level progression bonuses.
The “Re-Up” system will allow players who’ve reached level 100 to sign up for another tour of duty in the Locust War. By completing a second, third, and fourth march to level 100, players will be able to unlock exclusive weapons (Re-Up Plasma, Re-Up Omen, and Re-Up Electric) and exclusive rank colors (Red, Green, and Gold).
Hit the jump for an in-depth detailing on all five new maps and all four new character skins. (more…)

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron timeline hints at future games in series
Activision has released a very cool timeline for their original Transformers games, War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. The timeline reveals that Fall of Cybertron will center on the creation of a Space Bridge and the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons as they travel to Earth in search of Energon.
But a mysterious fourth section, titled “The Journey,” shows that there is at least one untold tale in this version of the neverending war between the factions:
Did the Autobots and Decepticons fly directly to Earth? Or did they bounce from one corner of the galaxy to the another before meeting their destiny? These questions remain a mystery as they illustrate an unwritten chapter of the lore.
If that’s not confirmation that there’s another original Transformers game in the pipeline, I don’t know what is.

Original Dante rides again in Devil May Cry HD Collection on April 3
Capcom plans to give Dante a reboot in 2012 with the Ninja Theory-developed origin story DMC: Devil May Cry. But the original Dante from the days of yore (by which I mean the PS2 years of 2001-2005) is still alive and kicking. He’ll be making a reappearance on store shelves next year with the Devil May Cry HD Collection, which is due out April 3, 2012.
The HD Collection brings together Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition all in one package. In addition to an HD overhaul, the compilation will also include bonus content and support for Achievements/Trophies.
The Devil May Cry HD Collection carries a nice $39.99 retail price.
