Daily Scoop: January 4, 2012 – How is it this cold?
Seriously, it’s 23 degrees right now, feels like 13. How is that even a number that is applied to the weather? That should be against the law of nature. I am so cold! All I want to do is go home and snuggle up with my kitties under a blanket, either reading more Dresden Files or playing more Assassin’s Creed while sipping on some miso soup. Oooh, miso soup makes me think of Cousin Miso… now I want to play Katamari…
*shakes head* Stay the course, Nicole! This is a scoop, not your daydreams. Today’s Deal of the Day is the same as what GameStop is offering – a $75 promotional credit when you buy the Xbox 360 250GB Holiday Value Bundle, which comes with Fable III and Halo Reach. Now is a good time to pick up an Xbox, or replace your Xbox that red ringed over the holidays!

Epic Mickey 2 revealed in Disney newsletter
Stitch Kingdom, a blog on all things Disney, spotted a Disney newsletter today that confirmed the existence of Epic Mickey 2. The newsletter (and the post on Stitch Kingdom) was quickly dropped down the Memory Hole, but we do know that everyone’s favorite mascot will be pulling a multiplatform turn on the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 this time around. We also know that the game will include a two-player co-op mode with the second player taking control of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Luckily, Eurogamer nabbed the full text of the press release before it was pulled. Check it out here:
Disney Epic Mickey 2 is the latest game in the critically acclaimed Disney Epic Mickey videogame series. In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, Mickey embarks on an epic journey and is pulled back into a world filled with Disney’s forgotten characters. Players can choose to play single-player as Mickey or for the first time players can also choose two-player split screen mode. In the two-player mode one person can play as Mickey wielding magic paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world and the second player can play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – Walt Disney’s first cartoon star – with the power to fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges. Team-up and choose your path to save this forgotten world because the choices you make will alter the story and change the end of the game!
If the newsletter is accurate, Epic Mickey 2 will be released during the 2012 Christmas season.

Here’s the most pirated PC, Wii, Xbox 360 games of 2011
TorrentFreak has posted a list of the five most pirated games on the PC, Wii, and Xbox 360 (apparently, PS3 games aren’t pirated enough to be counted). Congratulations Crysis 2! You’re the most popular game that no one wanted to pay for (but still wanted to play) in 2011!
In addition to Crysis 2’s “victory” over the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as the most pirated game of 2011, we also learned that Super Mario Galaxy 2, Gears of War 3, and Xenoblade Chronicles were popular with pirates. Arr matey! Nintendo should have announced a North American release date for Xenoblade a tad earlier.
Notably absent from the list is GOTY stalwarts Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
But here’s the full list:
Top 5 Pirated PC Games
1. Crysis 2 (3,920,000 downloads)
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (3,650,000 downloads)
3. Battlefield 3 (3,510,000 downloads)
4. FIFA 12 (3,390,000 downloads)
5. Portal 2 (3,240,000 downloads)
Top 5 Pirated Wii Games
1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (1,280,000 downloads)
2. Mario Sports Mix (1,090,000 downloads)

4. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (870,000 downloads)

New Releases: PSP Dual Packs, NFL Blitz

Welcome to 2012! We’re starting things off a bit slowly in the first week of the new year with just three new releases. Well, actually, it’s six games being re-released as part of Sony’s PSP Dual Pack program.
New in stores this week you’ll find…
PSP Dual Pack: MotorStorm: Arctic Edge + Twisted Metal: Head-On
PSP Dual Pack: Patapon + LocoRoco
PSP Dual Pack: Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee and Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip
And that’s it. Though PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade fans will also be able to download the rebooted NFL Blitz this week, but more on that later.
The Official Mega-Super-Awesome Video Game Release Calendar for 2012

Dick Clark is in Times Square and the big ball will drop in less than 36 hours. That’s right folks, 2011 is coming to an end. But all that means is that 2012 is (quite literally) right around the corner. And with it comes a huge new year of gaming. In 2012, we’ll witness the launch of the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Wii U. We’ll also welcome back the bullet-time action of Max Payne, the knee-cracking excitement of NFL Blitz, and a rousing return to the world of BioShock. There’s also the tomb raiding rebirth of Lara Croft, another count of Grand Theft Auto, the first Kid Icarus game in over two decades, and the gravity-defying feats of Inversion.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s what else we’ll be playing in 2012 (Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments)… (more…)
Sega reveals Tails, Metal Sonic to return in Sonic 4 Episode 2

Ken Balough, Sega’s Digital Brand Manager, recently sat down with GameSpot to reveal that the publisher is still hard at work on Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II. What’s been taking so long? Apparently Sega is listening to the fan complaints and creating all-new graphics and physics engines for the game.
Oh, and they’re also inserting Miles “Tails” Prower as your sidekick and they’ve resurrected Metal Sonic to be the villain. Hit the break to view the entire interview.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II will be coming to the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and mobile platforms like iOS, Windows Phone, and Android in 2012 (sorry Wii owners). (more…)

The Apocalypse List
The bombs have fallen, the zombies have horded, food is scarce, and you’ve boarded yourself up in a bunker that’ll stand for a hundred years.
