Square Enix has finally made it official after Steam leaked the news a week ago… Rise of the Tomb Raider will officially be available for the PC on January 28. Lara Croft’s latest will make the jump to the PC with a number of improvements over the Xbox version released in November, including Windows 10 support and a 4K resolution display option.
Players interested in purchasing Rise of Tomb Raider for the PC will get three different bundles to choose from:
- A $59.99 Standard Edition will be available in stores and online.
- A $89.99 Digital Deluxe Edition, available only online, will include the game’s Season Pass.

Microsoft offers a “snapshot” of their 2016 Xbox One/Windows 10 exclusives

Microsoft loved to promote their 2015 release schedule as the “Greatest Games Line-Up in Xbox History,” but the publisher plans to continue to use that tagline in 2016. Mike Nichols, the Xbox Division’s Corporate Vice President of Marketing, has posted a look back at some of Microsoft’s achievements from the previous year on the Xbox Wire, but the executive also gave us a “snapshot” of Big Redmond’s 2016 lineup of Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusives.
Most of these release dates are well known, but it’s nice to learn that the Windows 10 version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be released this Spring. And it looks like Keiji Inafune’s ReCore will also be released for the PC in addition to the Xbox One, though its release date has been changed from “Spring 2016” to “TBA 2016”:
Greatest Games Line-Up in Xbox History Extends to 2016
- Cobalt (Xbox One / Xbox 360 / Steam) – February 2
- Killer Instinct: Season 3 (Xbox One / Windows 10) – March
- Quantum Break (Xbox One) – April 5
- Fable Legends (Xbox One / Windows 10) – Spring (Open Beta)
- Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Windows 10) – Spring
- Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition (Xbox One / Windows 10) – Spring
- Crackdown 3 (Xbox One) – Summer (Multiplayer)
- Gears of War 4 (Xbox One) – Fall (Launch) / Spring (Multiplayer Beta)
- Halo Wars 2 (Xbox One / Windows 10) – Fall
- Gigantic (Xbox One / Windows 10) – TBA 2016
- ReCore (Xbox One / Windows 10) – TBA 2016
- Sea of Thieves (Xbox One / Windows 10) – TBA 2016
Microsoft has several other unannounced titles on track for 2016 and will make further “new title reveals” in the coming months.

Xbox Store Today: The Escapists on Xbox 360
Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios are going to make another grand escape with today’s launch of The Escapists on the Xbox 360. Originally released on the PC and Xbox One back in February, the retro-styled overhead prison break simulator can now be purchased on Microsoft’s previous-gen console for $19.99. And if you’re an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, the game is even more of a steal (just $13.39) for a limited time.
The Escapists is now available to download for the Xbox 360 through the Xbox Games Store. Here’s a little more information about the game, courtesy of Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios:
Experience a light-hearted insight into everyday prison life with the award winning indie hit, The Escapists. Master the routine, plan your strategy, then execute your escape in the break simulation sensation of 2015. Whilst the aim of the game is simply to escape, the detail is in the execution where in between attending roll calls, mealtimes and doing your allocated jobs, you should grab every chance to plan your escape.

Xbox Store Today: Tony Hawk 5 for Xbox 360, Ark: Survival Evolved, King’s Quest Ep 2, more

After getting delayed earlier this Fall, Activision’s Xbox 360 rendition of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is finally ready for release. The game, which resurrects the classic Pro Skater style of play for a new generation, is available to download now through the Xbox Games Store.
Also available this week is a Game Preview of Ark: Survival Evolved, Studio Wildcard’s survival game that includes more than 60 types of dinosaurs (right now) and two-player splitscreen support (eventually). The full game will be available sometime in June 2016, but if the idea of taming a herd of dinosaurs to protect your base from a different herd of dinosaurs appeals to you, you can purchase it now. A free demo is also available.
Finally this week, The Odd Gentlemen will release King’s Quest: Rubble Without A Cause, the second episode in their King’s Quest reboot, for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Young King Graham will have to battle a gaggle of goblins if he wants to rescue his people and save his kingdom.
More information about all of these games (and another new release or two) can be found after the break. (more…)

New Releases: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 for PS3/Xbox 360

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… and you know what that means… we’re about to be in for a serious drought of new releases for the next few weeks.
Case in point, this week’s only new release is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The skateboarding series returns to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in a package that’ll look very similar to this Fall’s PS4 and Xbox One edition. Players will be able to grind through Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 as one of ten pros, or they can drop themselves into the game with the Create-A-Skater mode. And if you’re feeling extra creative, players can also tap into their inner architect and build a brand new course in the game’s Create-A-Skatepark mode.
Even with the Christmas holiday right around the corner, be sure to check back later this week for a complete look at this week’s brand new digital downloads on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.
