WB Games will release The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game in September
It looks like WB Games and TT Games have another Lego game planned for this Fall, and the two companies will release The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game to go along with this September’s premiere of The Lego Ninjago Movie.
In the game, players battle their way through waves of enemies with honor and skill as their favorite ninjas Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Master Wu to defend their home island of Ninjago from the evil Lord Garmadon and his Shark Army. To do so, they must master the art of Ninjagility which allows them to traverse Ninjago by wall-running, high-jumping and battling the foes of Ninjago to rank up and upgrade the ninja’s combat skills. Players can harness the power of Spinjitzu combat to defend Ninjago together.
Players will fight their way through eight locations from the film and compete in Challenge Dojos against a neverending stream of increasingly tougher enemies. The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game will also include a variety of Battle Maps for competitive splitscreen for up to four players.
The Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game will be released for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on September 22. Be sure to check out the Announcement Trailer embedded above.

Xbox Store Today: Valkyria Revolution, The Golf Club 2, Poi, more
Four new games are now available to download through the Xbox Games Store for the Xbox One…
Leading the charge is Sega’s Valkyria Revolution, an action-packed spinoff in the popular Valkyria franchise. Sidestepping the franchise’s traditional turn-based mechanics, Valkyria Revolution includes real-time combat on the front lines and a new art engine that brings its gouache-inspired watercolors to life.
Also available to download today is The Golf Club 2, the latest golf simulation from HB Studios and Maximum Games. Players will be able to compete in the game’s extensive Career Mode, or strike out on their own with a “new and improved” Course Creator.
Finally today, Xbox One owners will also be able to pick up Poi, a 3D platformer featuring two kids on a grand adventure; and Crazy Strike Bowling EX, a wacky anime-inspired bowling game.
More details on all four games can be found after the break. (more…)

Super Mario Odyssey wins “E3 2017 Best of Show” from Game Critics Awards

A marquee upcoming release for the Nintendo Switch has once again claimed “Best of Show” from the Game Critics Awards at the E3 Expo. Super Mario Odyssey took home the big prize this year, along with additional wins for “Best Console Game” and “Best Action/Adventure Game.”
Altogether, Nintendo took home top honors in six categories. Super Mario Odyssey’s trio of statues were joined by “Best Handheld Game” for Metroid: Samus Returns, and “Best Original Game” and “Best Strategy Game” for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
The editors that make up the Game Critics Awards panel made a lot of obvious picks in the rest of the categories, but they also threw in a few surprises. Strong debuts from Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (“Best Action Game”), Destiny 2 (“Best PC Game”), and Forza Motorsport 7 (“Best Racing Game”) lead to a few big wins, but I’m not anyone was expecting Arc System Works to surprise the crowd with Dragon Ball Fighter Z.
All of this year’s winners can be found after the break. (more…)

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto is now available to download
Square Enix has announced that Episode Prompto, the next expansion for Final Fantasy XV, is now available to download on the PS4 and Xbox One.
Players will venture to a “snowy wilderness” and battle alongside Aranea Highwind in Episode Prompto. And don’t worry, you’ll also get plenty of chances to take more pictures:
Description
Prompto fell from a speeding train and became separated from Noctis and his comrades during a point in their journey. Days later, Prompto is caught wandering alone in the snowy wilderness by imperial forces and imprisoned in a facility where he will discover previously unknown, shocking truths about himself. Along the way, he encounters Aranea Highwind, as the two fight alongside one another to escape the imperial army.Features
- A brand-new storyline where Prompto, lost in the wilderness and battling against the Imperial forces, must find his way home and discover the truth about himself in the process
- Fast-paced, third-person gunplay battles featuring a wide variety of weapons, including basic handguns, sniper rifles, flash grenades, bazookas and more
- A new lightning fast snowmobile vehicle can be driven for taking down enemies and perform death-defying jumps while venturing through the wilderness
- Commodore Aranea Highwind and her mighty lance return to journey alongside Prompto
- Selfie Action… Players will have the ability to snap selfies along the way, carrying over Prompto’s Snapshot skill from the main game
In addition to the expansion, Square Enix also made another free update available for Final Fantasy XV today. The update includes a new “Type-D” upgrade for the Regalia that gives it the ability to travel off-road, as well as new in-game music from Episode Prompto, and various fixes.
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto is part of the game’s Season Pass, but players can also purchase it as a standalone download for $4.99. A Launch Trailer for the expansion has been embedded above.

Find out where the bodies are buried when Serial Cleaner launches for PC and consoles in July
Harvey Keitel really helped popularize the idea of a “Cleaner,” someone who disposes of blood and bodies after a murder-for-hire, when he portrayed “The Wolf” in 1994’s Pulp Fiction. Curve Digital and iFun4All really ran with this idea when they created Serial Cleaner, a crime scene cleanup that’ll make its debut on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in July.
Serial Cleaner is set in the swingin’ 70s, and it’ll ask players to hide evidence in a lengthy Story Mode and a tricky Challenge Mode:
Set in the 1970s, Serial Cleaner has players sneak around bloody crime scenes to clean up incriminating evidence by disposing of bodies, covering up bloodstains and hiding murder weapons all while avoiding the police. To succeed players must explore, experiment, and make swift decisions in order to avoid police detection. Get caught and players earn a black mark on their protagonist’s career.
Players must also be wary of their environment as the game uses real-world data to modify levels accordingly with the current time of day in a player’s whereabouts. Noise detection and “sneakability” will vary between night and day, and mean the difference between freedom and jail.
Serial Cleaner will be available for the PS4 on July 11, with a PC and Xbox One launch to follow on July 14. A gameplay trailer has been embedded after the break. (more…)

Content Crash #3: Will New Games Always Cost $60?
Welcome everyone to the Content Crash podcast. I’m your host, Dan Hartnack, and with as always, Keno Eastmond.
Today’s topic… we’d like to talk about the pricing of games. The standard has forever been that a brand new AAA release comes out and it is $60. That happened way back in the 90s with Nintendo and the Super NES. And all the way to today, that number has not changed, for the most part.
But why is that? And will it ever change?

New Retail Releases: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Valkyria Revolution, More

This week’s New Retail Releases report is packed full of remakes, sequels, and spinoffs, which is perfect for the start to a likely lazy Summer…
Let’s start things off with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a compilation of the first three games in the series, now remade for the PS4. Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped helped put the original PlayStation on the map, and now’s a great time to play them again.
And Activision is striking back again this week with the upcoming standalone re-release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on the PS4. You might already own it if you purchased the Legacy Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last year, but if not, here’s your chance.
Also available this week is a pair of spinoffs to two very Japanese franchises. First up is Sega, who will launch Valkyria Revolution on the PS4 and Xbox One, and add real-time combat to the franchise for the first time. Meanwhile, NIS America will deliver a side-story in the sprawling Danganronpa saga with Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls on the PS4.
NIS America will also bring RPG Maker Fes to the 3DS this week. Players won’t be required to have any programming skills, but they’ll be able to create (and share) their own RPG all the same.
Finally this week, two long-forgotten franchises will return to store shelves. Codemasters will zip around the house with the diminutive automobiles from Micro Machines World Series for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And the famed Elite series will fly again thanks to Elite Dangerous: Legendary Edition on the PS4 and Xbox One.
You can read up on all of this week’s new releases after the break. (more…)
