Daily Scoop: November 21, 2012 – Thankful for so much

It’s not even Thanksgiving, and I’m already thankful for so much. I’m thankful for the good friends I spent last night with, laughing until we were in pain. I’ve never had that much fun at an IHOP! I’m thankful for my boyfriend, who just wrote his first article. I’m thankful for my family, who I got to see this weekend (and surprisingly survive a game of Cards Against Humanity with). I’m thankful for so much!

Day three of Black Friday deals at Amazon is upon us, and again, I’m just copying from John Scalzo’s hard work:

I might get Spirit Camera… NO!! No, I won’t! Don’t do it, bro!

Three awesome shirts today – see if you can resist them!

Be thankful for a PSN update including Epic Mickey 2, PS All-Stars, Family Guy, more

PS3, Vita, and PSP owners will have a lot to be thankful for this week as Sony has added more than a dozen games to the PlayStation Store in an attempt to steal some of your Black Friday dollars.

Leading the way are a trio of PS3 Full Games that includes mascot brawler PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, artistic sequel Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, and the cartoonish chaos of Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse. PlayStation All-Stars is also available to download on the Vita.

But there’s even more to be thankful for, including…

  • The final episode of Telltale’s The Walking Dead adaptation, “No Time Left.”
  • Doom Classic Complete, a PS3 compilation that includes Ultimate Doom, Doom II (plus “The Master Levels”), and Final Doom.
  • A Vita-exclusive remake of Persona 4, subtitled “Golden.”
  • The wild Grasshopper Manufacture shoot ’em up Sine Mora (on PSN and Vita).
  • The Vita remake of Sega’s cult classic, Jet Set Radio.

And that’s still not everything that was added to the PlayStation Store yesterday. You can hint the break for more information on every new release or visit the PlayStation Blog for a list of this week’s new game add-ons.

Torchlight II Review: Diablo II Never Looked So Good

Torchlight II builds off of Torchlight‘s rock solid foundations to create a game that fully delivers on developer Runic Games’ goal to “give [the players] what they’re asking for.” Oddly, even though the game was in development long before Diablo III‘s release, what the players wanted seems to be all the things Diablo III got wrong.

Blizzard’s Diablo III is certainly the 800-pound gorilla in the room, and some might try to write a review of Torchlight II without mentioning its major league rival, but I’m not going to bother. Anyone who is a fan of the click n’ loot fest likely has played the Diablo games at some point, and that series pretty much defines all the core elements, so I see little reason in avoiding the comparison. Considering Torchlight’s developers include Max and Erich Schaefer, the co-founders of Blizzard North and co-creators of the Diablo series, it’s interesting to see how much Diablo has diverged while Torchlight II has remained true to its origins.
