Daily Scoop: October 15, 2014 – Still no code for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Well, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has been out for a day and a half now, and many people who received free vouchers from PAX East and PAX Prime still have not received the game. While I don’t want to complain about something that’s free, it’s hard not to be frustrated. I thought I’d already be level 10 by now, but instead, I haven’t even downloaded the game to my system yet. This is really bad form, 2K. There has been no official word on it – just people posting in forums, commiserating. Here’s hoping all of our codes come soon!

Anyway, it’s not like there aren’t plenty of other games to play in the interim! There are a couple of sales happening over at the Humble Store. Brand new Legend of Grimrock II is $21.59, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is $7.49, and Fotonica is $4.99. Over at Steam, the Daily Deal is 66% off Deponia: The Complete Journey, putting it down to $13.59.

There are some new games to pick up over at Indie Royale in their Mixer 9 Bundle! Beat the average and score Krunch, Jets’n’Guns Gold, Dungeons the Eye of Draconus, StaudSoft’s Synthetic World, The Legend of the Artifact, 8BitBoy, Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted, Chompy Chomp Chomp, Coldfire Keep, and Victim of Xen.

There are a few sweet t-shirts today – hit the jump to check them out!

Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, Minecraft PS Vita, Evil Within, and a lot more added to PS Store

minecraft-header

It’s another big week for the PlayStation Store as more than a dozen new titles are now available to download on the PS4, PS3, and Vita.

Leading things off is Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (PS3), 2K’s tale of what happened between the first and second games in the series. With a new location (Pandora’s Moon) and a new developer (2K Australia), it might just make your PS4 feel a bit lonely for the next few weeks.

But speaking of the PS4, it is now home to plenty of scares and a little bit of whimsy. The scares are provided by the haunted mansion of Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within (also available on the PS3) and the roving zombies of Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Come to think of it, the deadly Triad gangsters of United Front’s Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition are pretty scary too. To balance out all this blood and gore, you might like to know that PopCap’s adorable puzzle game, Peggle 2, was released for the PS4 this week as well.

Vita owners might like to know that Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition is finally available to download. Not only does the portable version of Mojang’s world-crafter include everything from the PlayStation 3 Edition, but it’s also a free download if you own it on the PS3.

Finally this week, if you love Duck Dynasty so much that you want to play a quickie tie-in game (also titled Duck Dynasty) on your PS3 or PS4, then Activision’s got you covered.

A complete list of this week’s new releases (including a few more that went unmentioned above) can be found after the break. And a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog.

Daily Scoop: October 14, 2014 – Delay on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel PAX Codes

I got a free code for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel back at PAX East, and Gearbox also gave away codes at their PAX Prime panel as well. They said they would be sending them out starting at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time), but so far, all I’m seeing are people complaining about not getting them. Though in all fairness, the people who DID get them are probably off playing the game and not sitting around refreshing Twitter. Here’s hoping we get ours soon!

If you’re not into those Borderlands games, don’t worry – there’s plenty you can pick up today. There’s the brand new Humble Mozilla Bundle over at Humble, which is all browser games. Pay what you want for Super Hexagon, Aaaaa! for the Awesome, Osmos, Zen Bound 2, and Dustforce DX. Beat the average to unlock Voxatron and FTL: Advanced Edition. Finally, pay $8 or more to unlock Democracy 3.

That’s not all. At Steam, the Midweek Madness deal is a massive sale on the Tomb Raider franchise, and the recent reboot is just $3.99. And over at Indie Royale, they’ve got the Soapsuds Bundle. Beat the average and get Asteria, Procyon, Revolution Ace, Morphopolis, Blast Em!, and Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome.

There are a couple of great shirts today, so let’s jump right in!

Microsoft details gameplay improvements and 8 new fighters coming to Killer Instinct Season 2

Microsoft will release the first wave of content for Killer Instinct‘s second season beginning tomorrow. To celebrate, the consolemaker has announced (via Xbox Wire) some new details on just what fans can expect from the new season as well as a pretty slick launch trailer.

Eight characters will be added to Killer Instinct’s roster in Season 2. Four returning characters (TJ Combo, Maya, Riptor, and Cinder) will be joined by new combatants (“an ancient Babylonian sorcerer, an avenging ghost, a battle-hardened war golem,” and a final character that is still a big secret). These characters will compete in a remade game that now offers an Ultratech-influenced interface, a rebalanced Season 1 roster, an enhanced combo system (now with “aerial recaptures” to take combos from the ground to the air and back again), and an improved ranking and leveling system.

TJ Combo and Maya will both be added to the Xbox Games Store tomorrow. And players who get their Killer Instinct kicks with the Free-To-Play version will be able to use TJ Combo tomorrow as well.

John Cena will curate WWE 2K15 soundtrack and team up with Wiz Khalifa for two tracks

wwe2k15-box2K Games struck gold when they decided to hand the last three NBA 2K soundtracks over to curators such as Jay-Z (NBA 2K13), Lebron James (NBA 2K14), and Pharrell Williams (NBA 2K15). Yesterday, the publisher announced they’re going to try again by giving the musical reins of WWE 2K15 to John Cena, one of the most popular “WWE Superstars” working today.

Cena took his duties very seriously and didn’t just pick a handful of songs to appear on the soundtrack. He teamed up with Wiz Khalifa to perform on two of the songs (“All Day” and “Breaks”), which will also be featured on a companion soundtrack album. Set for release as a digital download on October 21, the soundtrack album will include the following tracks:

  • Wiz Khalifa & John Cena – “All Day”
  • B.o.B (Featuring Future) – “Ready”
  • Rudimental (Featuring Emeli Sandé & Nas) – “Free”
  • Wiz Khalifa – “We Dem Boyz”
  • Flo Rida (Featuring Sia) – “Wild Ones” [WrestleMania 28 Version]
  • Knife Party – “Bonfire”
  • Big Smo (Featuring Alexander King) – “Workin’”
  • Mystery Skulls – “Ghost”
  • Royal Blood – “Come On Over”
  • Wiz Khalifa & John Cena – “Breaks”

Four additional songs can be heard in the game including Avenged Sevenfold’s “This Means War,” Dizzee Rascal’s “Heart Of A Warrior” (featuring Teddy Sky), Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll” (featuring Luke Bryan), and Rise Against’s “Zero Visibility.”

WWE 2K15 will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 28 and on the PS4 and Xbox One on November 18.
