Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will be available on September 16

theatrhythmfinalfantasycurtaincallSquare Enix has announced that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will launch on the Nintendo 3DS on September 16. But that’s not all: they’ve also announced that there will be a Collector’s Edition, which will be limited to 5,000 copies and will only be available through the Square Enix online store. You can pre-order both right now – the former for $39.99, and the latter for $69.99.

The Collector’s Edition, pictured above, will include a pouch for your 3DS, “The Best of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call” CD with 20 tracks, “Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call – Remix Selections” CD with five tracks, and five CollectaCards. I’m not sure exactly what makes this $30 more expensive, but I will most likely end up pre-ordering this once I let my guard down.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call will be out on September 16 for the Nintendo 3DS.

Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley will be released for 3DS this year

harvestmoonthelostvalleyDeveloper Natsume announced that they’ll be releasing a new title in the Harvest Moon series, entitled Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. It will be launching on the 3DS later this year, and is not to be confused with XSEED’s Story of Seasons, which is the true sequel to previous Harvest Moon games (Natsume owns the US trademark to Harvest Moon, so The Lost Valley is technically the first game in a brand new series).

President and CEO of Natsume, Hiro Maekawa, said “Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley is truly evolving the franchise. Hardcore fans will love it, players who haven’t played a Harvest Moon game in a while will want to try it out, and new players will be introduced to the unique and charming world that is Harvest Moon… But the incredibly exciting thing that really elevates the game is that while it does get back to what everyone loves about the early games, it also innovates in a way that no Harvest Moon game ever has.”

In The Lost Valley, you can customize your field however you want, with plenty of options in a world that is fully customizable. Fans of the series who will be at E3 next week can check the game out at Booth #615. Check out the full press release after the jump.

Tetris Ultimate set for a Summer release on PS4, Xbox One; PC version to follow in Fall

Are you ready to play the ultimate version of Tetris? I hope so, because Ubisoft plans to release Tetris Ultimate as a digital download for the PS4 and Xbox One this Summer. The game will also be available through PC download services in the Fall.

Tetris Ultimate will include six modes (Marathon, Endless, Ultra, Sprint, Battle, and Power-Up Battle) and multiplayer play for up to four people. We’ll get an extended look at the game next week during the E3 Expo and members of the public who make it down to Ubisoft’s Uplay Lounge at The Standard hotel will be able to try it out for themselves.

I have just one question, how has a Tetris game never used “Ultimate” as a subtitle before this?

Daily Scoop: June 4th, 2014 – New digital deals

I’m in need of playing some video games, my friends. I mean I really just want a full day where I do nothing at all but play video games. Ideally, I would take a break to shower (nah) and eat (ice cream) and maybe walk around (to the fridge to get more ice cream), but other than that, just video games until I noticed it had gone from day to night. Maybe once school is over, my dream can come true!

Anyway, let’s talk about some new digital deals I’ve stumbled across! Over at Indie Royale, they’ve got the brand new Phoenix Bundle. Pay the current minimum or more for Cognition Episode 4: The Cain Killer, Cognition Episode 3: The Oracle, The Cat Lady, Lost Civilization, Face Noir, and Reperfection: Volume 1. I want to make so many funny comments about The Cat Lady, but it looks like it’s a horror game and not a simulation of my life, so… yeah.

Over at Steam, you can grab Sniper Elite V for free, but only if you get it and install it before tomorrow at 10am PST. Their Daily Deal is Spore, which is on sale for $4.99. Scoop ’em up!

There are some awesome t-shirts today:

Watch Dogs sets new record for launch sales of an original property

watchdogsWatch Dogs has been flying off the shelves since it was released on May 27, selling more than four million copies in just one week. This marks it as the fastest-selling brand-new intellectual property at launch, and the best-selling first week game for Ubisoft. The record sales are (presumably) ongoing.

Ubisoft’s senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key was very pleased, saying “With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment… We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”

Over one million of those who purchased the game also got ctOS Mobile, the free companion app, which allowed them to check Aiden Pearce’s Chicago at anytime right from their mobile devices. This app also allows for dual-screen gameplay.

Watch Dogs launched last week for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It will be released on the Wii U system this coming Fall.

Mario Kart 8 now the fastest-selling Wii U game after 1.2 million copies sold over first weekend

mariokart8-header

In the kart race that is the 8th Generation Console War, Nintendo picked up a Blue Shell over the weekend in the form of Mario Kart 8. The latest addition to Nintendo’s popular racing franchise bowled over the competition and sold 1.2 million copies in its first three days of availability across North America, Europe, and Japan. That makes it the fastest-selling Wii U game ever and the seventh Nintendo-published title to sell more than a million copies.

“The early response to Mario Kart 8 demonstrates that the best days for Wii U are still ahead,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “This year’s E3 is just days away, and it will be all about the future games for Nintendo platforms. This milestone is a great place to start!”

So I guess that ultra-creepy live-action commercial actually increased sales of Mario Kart 8. Mean Mario means business!

Little Orbit adapting Falling Skies into a strategy RPG

img_0217 Fans of the TNT science fiction show Falling Skies will be happy to know that Little Orbit will soon be turning the show into a video game. The show will be made into a tactical strategy RPG, and will be released on the PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 as a digital download.

President of Little Orbit, Matt Scott, said “Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies… We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player.”

The game will allow players to see all of their favorite characters from the show, and will allow them to play in “a never-ending list of missions” in their fight against the aliens. There will be hundreds of unlockable skills and character upgrades, as well as dynamic enemy AI and map randomization.
