Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will star Nolan North and Troy Baker

It sounds like Nolan North and Troy Baker will star in yet another video game as WB Games has announced that the prolific pair will voice the protagonist and antagonist of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with an original story written by Christian Cantamessa (Red Dead Redemption), Baker will star in Shadow of Mordor as Talion, a Ranger attempting to raise an orc army. He will be challenged by North, who will play his nemesis, the Black Hand. The beginning of their story plays out in the new “Story Trailer” embedded above.

Other actors who will lend their voices to the game include Alastair Duncan as Wraith, Laura Bailey as Ioreth, and Liam O’Brien as Gollum.

Finally, WB Games announced that award-winning composer Garry Schyman will create the music for Shadow of Mordor. Schyman previously composed the score for BioShock Infinite, which won a BAFTA Award for “Best Original Music” earlier this year as well as a D.I.C.E. Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition.”

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is in development for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It is scheduled to be released on October 7.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 4 will be released next week

It looks like things are getting downright hairy for Bigby in a new trailer for the next installment of The Wolf Among Us. Telltale Games has also confirmed they will release the fourth episode of their Fables adaptation, The Wolf Among Us: In Sheep’s Clothing, next week.

In Sheep’s Clothing will be downloadable for the PS3 through the PlayStation Store (North America only) and through PC download services on Tuesday, May 27. An Xbox 360 release is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, and the iOS version will follow a day after that on Thursday, May 29. Telltale has promised that they will have release date information for PS3 owners in Europe very soon.

Has the Wolf met his match? Beaten and bloody, Bigby is confronted by the realization that a society built on secrets is ripe for exploitation. And that the disenfranchised of Fabletown may see his prey not as the cause of their problems, but as their solution. Constantly caught between ‘the rules’ and doing the right thing, Bigby must tread a path fraught with danger in this penultimate episode of The Wolf Among Us.

In Sheep’s Clothing will be priced at $4.99 on each platform. And as always, it can also be accessed as part of The Wolf Among Us Season Pass.

Amplitude reboot is now fully funded on Kickstarter

amplitudehd-header

Things were looking awfully dire, but Harmonix’s Amplitude reboot has reached its funding goal after impassioned pleas (and pledges to match) from Insomniac, Markus “Notch” Persson, Jerry “Tycho” Holkins, and many more.

As of May 18, Amplitude’s Kickstarter campaign was sitting at about 50% funded with less than a week to go. That’s when Insomniac’s Ted Price got the ball rolling with a $7,500 pledge and a plea to get the game funded. Fans far and wide spread the word and the Internet responded with almost a full day to spare.

As long as everything goes according to plan, Harmonix expects to launch the Amplitude reboot on the PS3 and PS4 in March 2015. And with a fully-funded Kickstarter campaign, there’s nothing to stop them now.

WWE 2K15 bodyslams PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 on October 28

wwe2k15-header

Last week, WWE 2K15 was tagged with a “Fiscal 2015” release date by Take-Two Interactive in their quarterly financial report. Most of the other games were given a “Fall 2014” designation and many were worried that the different release window meant that WWE 2K15 would launch at the end of Take-Two’s fiscal year, which falls on March 31, 2015.

But never fear, the company’s “WWE Games” Twitter account set the record straight and WWE 2K15 will definitely be released thisyear:

WWE 2K15 is believed to be in development at Yuke’s, but Take-Two hasn’t officially revealed anything about the game beyond the information in the tweet above.

Nintendo Download: Street Fighter Alpha 2, Mega Man V, Swords & Soliders, more

nintendoeshop-header

Welcome to your weekly Nintendo Download report. This week, Nintendo has added four games to the Wii U eShop, three to the 3DS eShop, and one to the DSiWare Shop. Here we go…

The Wii U eShop is now home to Swords & Soldiers, a side-scrolling RTS; Squids Odyssey, a squiddy RPG; and Fit Music, a dancing/exercise game; and Street Fighter Alpha 2, a classic 2D fighter originally released for the Super NES.

Over on the 3DS eShop, Nintendo has added Mega Man V, the last Mega Man game released for the Game Boy; Turtle Tale, a turtley 2D platformer; and Alien On the Run, an overhead-style puzzle platformer.

Finally, Nintendo has added Lost Treasures of Alexandria to the DSiWare Shop. The game is, as you’d expect, a match-3 puzzler.

More information on all of these games can be found after the break.

Ubisoft @ E3 14: Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, The Division, The Crew, more

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft has announced their E3 2014 plans and it includes a lot of games we already knew about including Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Crew, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The megapublisher plans to announce a few additional titles during E3 Media Briefing, which will be held on Monday, June 9 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). Once again, Ubisoft’s presentation will be hosted by actress (and professional awesome person) Aisha Tyler and will be broadcast live on their YouTube Channel.

So what else will Ubisoft be announcing at this year’s E3 Expo? I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Blood Dragon 2 or the oft-rumored Assassin’s Creed: Comet, and you know a Watch Dogs sequel is in development somewhere within Ubisoft’s many development houses, but that probably won’t be an E3 2014 announcement.

You can find more information on Ubisoft’s E3 lineup after the break.

Deep Silver confirms Summer release for Metro Redux

After teasing Metro Redux back in March, Deep Silver and 4A Games are ready to officially announce that the compilation will come to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Summer. Priced at $49.99, the compilation pack will include enhanced remakes of Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and all of Last Light’s downloadable content. Metro 2033 has received the bulk of the enhancements including redone graphics and gameplay using the more advanced Last Light engine and “radically improved gameplay” such as…

  • Advanced enemy AI
  • Improved combat and stealth mechanics
  • Superior weapon handling
  • More responsive, intuitive controls
  • Weapon customization
  • Silent kills and take-downs

The complete “Redux” overhaul will also extend to each game’s unique play style. Players can now play through both campaigns using 2033’s “Survival Play Style” (a fraught slow-burn fight for survival with limited resources, deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds) or Last Light’s more action-oriented “Spartan Play Style” (more powerful weapons and more plentiful resources).

Finally, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light will both be available as individual downloads through PC download services, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Live Game Store. Each game will be sold separately for $24.99 each.

Minecraft coming to PS4, Vita, Xbox One in August; upgrade from current-gen for only $5

minecraft-header

Microsoft has announced that the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be available in August with a special offer for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition owners. If you currently own either version of the Xbox 360 Edition (the downloadable XBLA version or the retail disc), you’ll be able to upgrade to the Xbox One Edition for the low, low price of $4.99. If you don’t already own the Xbox 360 Edition, it’ll cost $19.99 to purchase the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.

According to a post on Xbox Wire, players who upgrade will be able to transfer their worlds into the Xbox One Edition as well as “most (but not all) of [their] downloadable skins and texture packs.”

Sony has yet to announce a release date for Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition, but I have a creeping suspicion that it’ll launch sometime this Summer too.

UPDATE: That was fast. Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will also be available for the PS4 and Vita in August. PS4 owners will be able to take advantage of the same $4.99 upgrade while the PS3 and Vita editions will be bundled together as part of the Cross-Buy program. So if you already own the PS3 version, you’ll be able to download Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition for free.

Minecraft for everybody (except Wii U owners)!
