Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 given July 10 release date

Zeboyd Games has revealed that Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 will be available to download for the PC (from Steam) and for the Xbox 360 (from Xbox Live Indie Games) on July 10. A Mac version is being planned for further down the line and purchasing the game through Steam will net you a copy of Penny Arcade’s We Need To Shorten the Title on These Games 3 for both platforms.

As promised, the game will arrive with the very wallet-friendly price of $5 (or 400 Microsoft Points).

Mobile versions for the iOS and Android platforms are also in development, but details on those “will be announced later.”

Weekly Warp-Up: A New E3 Approaches Edition

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

The 2012 E3 Expo begins tomorrow! So talking about what happened last week seems just a little unnecessary. Or not, since most of the industry is already in “E3 Mode.” There were plenty of big announcements, promises of big announcements, and promises of promises of big announcements. Oh E3, don’t ever change.

But if you’d prefer to read about games that are already available I could point you towards our latest edition of Warpback, or better known as What We Played in May 2012.

Or maybe you want to find out which Warp Zoned staff members have an unhealthy obsession with Lollipop Chainsaw. The correct answer is all of us… OK, maybe it’s just me. But you won’t know for sure unless you check out our summation of The Games of June 2012.

But I know what you’re really after. Hit the break for more pre-E3 announcements from some of the biggest names in gaming from the week that was.

New Releases: Inversion, Madagascar 3, Pikmin 2, More

With E3 less than 48 hours away, it’s understandable if this week’s new releases haven’t registered with you yet. And game publishers are doing their best to keep most new releases away from store shelves while the industry indulges in a little spectacle over “what’s next.” But a few big titles will soon land on store shelves:

For example, there’s Namco Bandai’s gravity-defying shooter Inversion for the PS3 and Xbox 360. A PC version will materialize later this year.

There’s also a new version of Pikmin 2 for the Wii complete with Wii Remote/Nunchuk controls.

Finally, a tie-in game based on Madagascar 3 will stampede onto five platforms (3DS, DS, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360) and Katy Perry continues her transformation into a video game character with The Sims 3: Katy Perry Sweet Treats on the PC.

People Can Fly developing next Gears of War game

People Can Fly, the team behind last year’s underloved shooter Bulletstorm, have been named as the developer of the next Gears of War game.

Taking to Twitter, Mike Capps, President of Epic Games, had this to say about the game’s development:

RT “@stephentotilo: @adrianchm Do I detect People Can Fly involvement?” YES YES YES!

While it’s possible this is a fakeout, People Can Fly have been rumored to be involved with a “Gears of War prequel” for a while now. But we’ll find out for sure this Monday during Microsoft’s E3 2012 Press Conference.

Hitman: Absolution’s E3 2012 trailer is nun-tastic

Agent 47 is hurt and he’s holed up in some fleabag motel. A visit from a group of wandering nuns is probably just what he needs. But then the nuns drop their habits, revealing fetish gear and a small arsenal of guns and heavy ordinance. I guess it’s just another day at the office for ol’ barcodehead.

Hitman: Absolution will be on display at next week’s E3 Expo and will be released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 20.

The Games of June 2012

June seems like it’s going to be a slow and likely disappointing gaming month for most of us here at Warp Zoned. But have no fear: E3 will have you looking to the future! Sadly, it’s a future that’s likely still a year off, but it’s still something to look forward to. But for now, here’s what we plan on playing for the next 30 days!

Criterion-developed Need For Speed: Most Wanted confirmed as next NFS game

EA has been teasing the next Need For Speed game over the last few weeks, and today they’ve confirmed that it’ll be titled Need For Speed: Most Wanted. This won’t be the first Need For Speed game to carry that title. Another “Most Wanted” game was released in 2005 for the GameCube, PC, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360.

This new version will be developed by Criterion (makers of the Burnout series and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit) and will make its public debut at next week’s E3 Expo. To get you geared up for that reveal, EA has released a single screenshot of the game, which you can see on the right.

We’ll have more on Need For Speed: Most Wanted next week.
