Daily Scoop: October 31, 2011 – Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! What did you get dressed up as this weekend? Something video game related, I’m assuming! My boyfriend and I decided to go as Heisenberg and Jesse Pinkman (as you can see in this awesome photo). We even had some of the blue, yeah!

But today’s scoop is about deals, my friends, not about who had the awesomest Halloween costume (obviously we win that one). Amazon’s Deal of the Day in video games continues the Call of Duty pattern with Call of Duty: World at War for $15.99 on the Xbox 360. Amazon’s also got their new weekly deals, which are epic:

  • Buy Two Games, Get One Free – and not just the crappy ones, either. This list includes Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, and the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, as well as boatloads of older games. Seriously, this one is worth wading through all the pages.
  • 50% off L.A. Noire for the Xbox 360, making it $19.99
  • Homefront on sale for just $19.99
  • Child Of Eden for $14.99 used through the Warehouse

But wait! There’s more. Target’s having their own awesome buy two, get one free sale, so if you’re tired of throwing all of your money at Amazon, you can take it to Target instead. Righteous!

T-shirt wise, Ript‘s “Stars & Stripes & Bricks” made me LOL:

RE Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles go HD on PS3

Capcom held a special event in Japan today to honor Resident Evil’s 15th anniversary. Aside from the anniversary party and some cake, the company has also announced a new Resident Evil game, which is actually an old game repackaged for a new platform.

Resident Evil Chronicles HD will bring the light gun shooting of Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles to the PS3 in a single package. As with the recently released House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut, the Chronicles HD collection will include enhanced graphics and PlayStation Move support.

A North American release date wasn’t announced, but Capcom loves re-releasing Resident Evil games like a zombie loves brains. So I’d say it’s a… no-brainer.

Celebrate Halloween with a new Lollipop Chainsaw trailer

I think the whole world is aware of the fact that Lollipop Chainsaw is a ripoff of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” In case you had your doubts, the latest trailer for Suda 51’s next game introduces us to Morikawa, the old man who teaches cheerleader Juliet Starling how to slay the undead.

But after watching the trailer, I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who cares that Lollipop Chainsaw’s plot has been done before because it looks insanely awesome.

Lollipop Chainsaw will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

Hydrophobia Prophecy will make a splash on the PSN starting November 1

Get ready to dust off your Move controller: Hydrophobia Prophecy will be available on the PSN starting this Tuesday, November 1.

I’ve been pretty excited about this game since it first launched on the Xbox 360, and I know it’s evolved a lot since then. According to Dark Energy Digital’s Peter Jones, “The PlayStation 3 is now by far and away the best looking and best playing version of the game on any platform – it’s in a different league compared to the original release, with many game systems reworked from the ground up, compelling new mechanics and a deeper back-story. What’s more, the PlayStation Network release will also contain the Darknet feedback system, a first on console, allowing players to engage directly with us, the developer.”

Of course Sony chimed in about the Move compatibility as well. Andy Stewart said, “Hydrophobia Prophecy is a fantastic third person adventure game built around the PlayStation Move controller. The Move implementation is excellent and will considerably enhance the experience for gamers.”

Hydrophobia Prophecy will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and $7.99 for you sorry saps who aren’t. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go charge my Move controllers.

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded launch trailer is downright classy

James Bond doesn’t need a parachute, as he’ll show you in this trailer for GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, which launches this Tuesday, November 1, for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I am loving the remix of the classic Bond music, as well as Daniel Craig’s sexy voice. Keep it coming, Activision.

No, that’s not a typo. Welcome to the Weekly Warp-Up, your weekly wrap-up of the biggest and the best articles posted at Warp Zoned this week…

Get Warp Zoned!
It’s the end of October and we are, once again, in the middle of the Fall gaming rush. In case you weren’t aware, a nice little cold snap has reminded us all and tomorrow night’s Halloween festivities is another sign that the biggest games of the year have begun to trickle into stores. As if it wasn’t hard enough keeping track of all the new releases, Rockstar had to go and announce Grand Theft Auto V. Is it all a trick? I don’t think so, but the treat (the game’s debut trailer) will have to wait until next week.

Hit the jump for the rest of the Weekly Warp-Up.

Capcom dates RE: Operation Raccoon City, Asura’s Wrath

It looks like our return to Raccoon City will be delayed as Capcom has announced 2012 release dates for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Asura’s Wrath.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 20, 2012 with a PC release scheduled for later in the year. Capcom has also announced that their retelling of Resident Evil 2/3 from Umbrella’s viewpoint will be available in a Special Edition that includes a copy of the game, in a Steelbook case with exclusive art, stylized foil sleeve, Umbrella Security Service embroidered patch, Spec Ops Field Unit embroidered patch, and eight in-game bonus weapons.

Operation Raccoon City will be beaten to stores by action game Asura’s Wrath. Developed by CyberConnect2, the game will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 21, 2012.

These two titles join Capcom’s previously announced 2012 lineup including the Vita version of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (February 22), Dragon’s Dogma (early 2012) and Resident Evil Revelations (February 7).
