Ninja Gaiden 3’s TGS trailer is red all over with new details

Ninja Gaiden 3‘s “Consequence” trailer is heavy on blood and disembodied voices crying out in lamentation. We see Ryu Hayabusa grunting around in pain while gallons upon gallons of blood, explained to be the blood and hatred of all he has slain, course through his arm. I almost want to see him use it to arm-wrestle with Nightmare from the Soul Calibur series.

In addition to the trailer, a multiplayer mode was announced at a pre-TGS event, set to pit would-be ninjas online against each other with the end goal of surpassing Hayabusa. I’m going to name my ninja Lag, because we all know that lag kills (cue the crickets).

It was also announced that two “play styles”, Ninja and Hero, will be featured in Ninja Gaiden 3. “Ninja” is the traditional style and the same way you’ve been playing the game for the past few iterations, while “Hero” will allow players to auto-block and auto-dodge if they just want to focus on the narrative.

So watch Ryu get a cursed arm capable of throwing a fastball from hell in the trailer above. Ninja Gaiden 3 is due in early 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Animal Crossing 3DS TGS trailer is all kinds of serene

A new trailer for Animal Crossing 3DS, set for release in 2012, was shown at the Tokyo Game Show. It features some really calming piano music in the background while showing you the improved graphics and interactions with neighbors. Perhaps the most noteworthy addition to the series is the ability to swim. I’m almost hoping to see Mr. Resetti, the mole who treats to you filibuster-like speeches if you reset without saving, pop out of the water in an inner tube.

Take a gander at your future anthropomorphic neighbors in the trailer above.

Nintendo Download: MotoHeroz, Mega Man

It’s another Thursday and that means a new batch of games have been added to Nintendo’s online stores.

The Wii Shop will receive MotoHeroz, a side-scrolling “platformer racer” from the creators of Trials HD that promises plenty of new thrills.

The 3DS eShop will receive Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge, the Game Boy classic that introduced the Blue Bomber to handheld gaming.

Finally, the DSi Shop will receive Defense of the Middle Kingdom, a tower defense game; and Bridge, a video game adaptation of the popular card game (that no one really knows how to play).

More details on all of these games can be found within the Nintendo Download weekly newsletter.

Battlefield 3 TGS trailer focuses on the vehicles of war

Japan’s aversion to first person shooters is pretty well known, so EA and DICE took a different tack when developing Battlefield 3‘s Tokyo Game Show trailer. Instead of focusing on the street level battles between soldiers like many of the American trailers do, the Tokyo Game Show trailer puts a heavy emphasis on Battlefield 3’s vehicles. Jeeps, helicopters, tanks, fighter jets… they’re all here.

So what are you waiting for? Drive up to the top of this article and check it out.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 coming January 31; new trailer released

Previously tagged with a January 2012 release window, Square Enix has gotten more specific and announced that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released on January 31. That’s a little over a month after the game’s Japanese release date, which is December 15. That’s a pretty quick turnaround for a Final Fantasy game, I must admit.

Something else that’s pretty is the game’s newest trailer, which was unveiled yesterday at the Tokyo Game Show. Check it out above.

Japanese PS Vita game list revealed!

Quite a bit of info about Sony’s new handheld has been released over the summer, but prospective buyers only had a few games to wrap their heads around. Now, a press release from Sony details a longer list of games, some additional system specifications – including battery life – and a list of accessories that will be available shortly after the system’s release.

First off, it looks as though the handheld’s battery life won’t be much better than that of the 3DS, with an expected gameplay life of 3-5 hours. It appears that charging the handheld from 0% battery life will take that same amount of time. Not too quick of a turnaround, it seems.

Most of the accessories are standard protocol – memory cards, earphones, etc. However, listed for Spring 2012 are a Vita Car Adapter and a Portable Charger. It looks like Sony is – at the very least – aware of the concern with battery life.

Anyway, onto the good stuff! Hit the jump for the list of games.

Max Payne 3 gameplay trailer is sunny and superawesome

Proudly proclaiming that “This trailer was made entirely from in-game footage,” the first trailer for Max Payne 3 gives the world a first look at the gritty glitzy and grimy sunny world of Max’s new stomping grounds, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

OK, it’s a little odd seeing a Max Payne game that takes place in the daytime, but this trailer is an awesome piece of action movie candy.

Max Payne 3 will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March 2012 (for real this time!).

Sonic Generations speeds onto consoles November 1

It’s been 20 years since Sonic blurred onto the screen and into our collective gaming heart. To celebrate, Sega is releasing Sonic Generations on November 1 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A 3DS version is slated for “Late 2011.”

In Sonic Generations, players will be treated to some nostalgia as Sonic and friends go back in time and meet their younger, fresh-faced counterparts. Watch them team up to save their friends and battle whoever it was that caused this affront to the space-time continuum in beautiful HD. You’ll race through Classic and Modern stages as both versions of the Blue Blur, saving friends and fighting iconic bosses while unlocking more levels and challenges.

If you hold out for the 3DS version, you’ll be treated to exclusive content in the form of new environments, an unlockable “special stage”, a two-player Versus Mode, and the chance to collect bonuses through Street Pass.
