Microsoft’s midweek update for the Xbox Games Store is ready, and Xbox One owners will have several new options to choose from.

The Xbox One debut of Klei’s Don’t Starve Together is one of today’s highlights. As is the launch of Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, 47 Games’s NASCAR Heat 2, and EA Sports’s NHL 18: Young Stars Edition.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Tooth and Tail, more added to PS Store

Welcome to Wednesday… and it’s time for another update to the PlayStation Store.

This week, PS4 owners will be able to download Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, the latest RPG in the long-running series, as well as Bethesda’s Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (a spinoff starring Rosario Dawson), Pocketwatch’s Tooth and Tail (an animal kingdom RTS), and a quartet of sports games (NASCAR Heat 2, NBA Live 18, NHL 18, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2018). Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 is also available for the PS3, and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana can also be found on the Vita.

Okami HD announced for PC, PS4, Xbox One… Frictional Games will bring Soma to Xbox One

A pair of games are on the move this afternoon. Capcom has announced that Okami HD will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One this year, and Frictional has said that Soma is in development for the Xbox One.

Apple removes Home Button in new iPhone X and also announces iPhone 8

Apple held their annual iPhone unveiling today and it looks like the company’s war on buttons will continue. The iPhone X will remove the Home Button and replace it with a fully glass screen. Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 will offer an incremental upgrade over the currently-available iPhone 7, and it’ll retain the Home Button.

Call of Duty 2018 might return to modern warfare… Bethesda’s Pete Hines said they’ve got another unannounced game coming in 2017

Unannounced games are always full of promise… because we don’t really know anything about them. While they’re not ready to announce them just yet, Activision dropped a few hints about Call of Duty 2018 and Bethesda has one more unannounced game on track for a 2017 release.

NES Classic Edition coming back in 2018… Axiom Verge will be released on Switch eShop on October 5

You can put away your Reggie Fils-Aime voodoo dolls, Nintendo has announced that more NES Classic Edition microconsoles will be released in 2018. In other Nintendo news, Thomas Happ has confirmed that Axiom Verge will be available to download through the Switch eShop on October 5.

Content Crash #12: Should Game Journalists Be Good at Games?

Welcome everyone to the Content Crash podcast. I’m your host, Dan Hartnack. And with me, as always, is Keno Eastmond.

We’re chasing a number of stories this time including another look back at Gamescom 2017 and PAX West 2017 and the possible plotline for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. But the one discussion I’d like to have is if game journalists should be good at game.

This question came about because a journalist from VentureBeat uploaded a video of a playthrough of Cuphead. Recorded during Gamescom, Cuphead is an upcoming side-scrolling shooter with a highly-stylized Disney feel, and it looks amazing. But anyway, the journalist uploaded a video of his experience with Cuphead and he is just downright bad at the game.

So, should game journalists be good at games? Let’s discuss it.
